JoBlo caught up with Will Smith, who revealed that a Hancock sequel is "definitely" happening:

When we asked Will if he'd ever be up for playing another superhero he replied that there were a lot of unexplored characters in the HANCOCK universe that would be ripe for a sequel and confirmed that we'll definitely see the rumored HANCOCK 2 in a few years.

The Peter Berg-directed film, which was made for $150 million, earned $624.4 million worldwide.

There's a Hancock universe now...?!?

I haven't seen the first, but I've heard many mixed things about it. I heard about the big reveal/spoiler and I though i sounded lame.

I like Will Smith, but Hancock just doesn't interest me.

it was a mediocre cg-fest...

not great but not bad

i didnt really like Hancock...so Im not really interested...but hey I mite end up seeing it if im bored when it comes out

I don't don't know why everyone hates it for.

I liked it and would like to see more.

I liked Hancock, but mostly because of the character arc.
Him becoming a hero was interesting, seeing another generic superhero movie starring that character doesn't interest me at all.

It reminds me of Unbreakable and how people wanted a sequel to that. Both films in my view are much better as stand-alone films, stories after these origins aren't nearly as interesting.

Hancock Prequel would be better, but...

It's completely unneccessary. As is the I Am Legend one.

GIMME BAD BOYS MUTHAFUGGIN 3!

I just watched it tonight and thought it was  :down

Nothing special and I don't see the point for a sequel. Maybe a prequel perhaps, I dunno.

I thought the guy said sequels were a bad idea..

Maybe the character can relapse or something. Hancock was a good movie IMHO, the sequel would have the advantage of a script that hasn't been totally written over in the course of a decade.

^Exactly, I really enjoyed the first movie, and sequel can look into Hancock and Mary's past and the others of their kind that eventually died. A sequel has a lot of potential. Also a sequel can explore the significance of the Eagle to Hancock also.

Hancock was coo to me. This was just the first one. The sequel might be way better. That happens a lot. This movie was on the same level as Iron Man and Iron Man wasn't that great either.

the concept of a lost and jailed hero has alot of potential.

if they retconned some of the ideas they put in the film, it could make a decent comic book series

imagine a jailed superhero who has to serve the government in order to get time of his sentence.

He ends up bagging baddies that end up in the same facilities with him and formulates plans to break em out and bring em back in order to schemingly work down his sentence.

heck he even invents some supervillains and pays people to pretend to terrorise others so he can bring them in.

he fakes earthquakes and typhoons and natural disasters and basically plays the dirtiest bastard you'll ever meet crossing all forms of dignity and decency while still remaining likeable.

Agreed I thought Hancock was awesome and I would like to see more from the character.

I liked the first one. A sequel could be cool, if done well. We'll see I guess.

The phrase quit while you're ahead and also the movie TOMB RAIDER come to mind.

I wouldnt quite say it was as good as Iron Man, though I find Iron Man over-rated, but it was as good as TIH and better than Wanted for me. I think a sequel has places to go, and I am interested in seeing them explored.

:shock We agreed again, this is happening to much lately :cwink:.

WHY Tomb Raider?

saw the original for the first time yesterday. loved the first half, the 2nd half was a mess sprinkled with a few instances of genuinely good movie moments. unfortunately the 2nd half is the part that really counts and it killed any desire for me to see a sequel.

Hunter you should have a poll for whether or not this is a good idea, just a suggestion.
