Not anymore ;)

Also my vote wasn't simply to tip the scale, I genuinely like TASM2 as my favorite Spider-Man movie.

:woot: 2 ahead now! I still need to see it again before I make my definitive judgement on the film , right now TASM1 is my favourite.

Spider-Man 2 - Better made 'movie'.
ASM2 - Favorite 'Spider-Man' movie.

Was easy to vote ASM2 over SM1 however, I actually think ASM1 is also better than SM1 as when I saw SM1 in 2002, I was very 'meh' for the half the movie but thought the climax was incredible. In constrast, ASM1 I liked the characters better, they just seem more 'real' to me even though I thought the action was poor (aside the Spidey vs the Police).

I'm glad that TASM 2 maintained TASM's heart, which was Peter and Gwen's relationship. I can't understand people that say that it was a passionless movie. So, in order for a movie to have heart, it needs to be goofy and cheesy?

Thats a good way of looking at it :yay:

I preferred the characters too, I'll take characterisation over action any day :woot:

What about the school scene? :cwink:

Exactly, these were by far my favourite parts of TASM2. I don't see it as passionless, rather that Electro somewhat suffocates those scenes with empty CGI blockbuster scenes IMO. Times Square was very cool though admittedly.

When i said passionless i meant TASM. I thought it had heart.

People think TASM is passionless? Never thought that! :wow: For me it was the most emotional Spidey film yet, not just because of Gwen and Peter!

It was for me too. Probably, the fact that it was made in order for Sony to keep the rights blinded a lot of people.

Yer, seems to be the first thing my mates mention about the film, as if it negates the positives..

Yeah, some awesome stuff in this series, I think if it were the first spiderman series we saw there'd be far less complaints about it.

Relationships are the big thing in this series, humanity is. It makes the film stand out from others in my opinion

With regards to ASM1, I think the origin is clumsily told but I gave the movie a pass because;
A) The couldn't stray too far from the source material
and
B ) The origin had already been told

so their hands were basically tied. I read a lot of reviews and I saw some comments that said 'the origin should have taken its time' and other comments that 'they spent too long on the origin'. So they weren't going to please everyone regardless. Imho they should have skipped the origin altogther and trusted the audience to work out Gwen not MJ, mechanicals not organics and so forth.

With the exception of Spidey vs the Police, I couldn't get into the action, I don't know if that was just poor action or the fact that I was finding Peter/Spidey a little unlikeable, a problem they fixed in ASM2 because I liked Peter AND the action.

Basically I enjoyed ASM1 but I think retelling the origin (even though I personally was engaged thoughout) was a HUGE misstep because I would say some people skipped the movie because they had seen the origin already and the people that turned up (because 750m for reboot is a hit not matter who tries to spin it otherwise) didn't see enough of a difference to warrent coming out for future sequels as we are seeing with ASM2.

Hindsight is 20/20 but the scene in ASM2 when Spidey is dropping out of the sky at the start of movie and cracking wise with the criminal in the truck should have been the opening scene of Amazing Spider-Man 1 and the Parent storyline should have been a self contained story for the first movie. Meaning Harry and Peter would have had more time and scenes in the sequel. Basically, it would have been better for the audience to have been confused with the differences between Raimi's trilogy and the new movies but have them watch something completely new and fresh than answer questions about the new webshooters (for example) but having the audience retread old ground.

Live and learn.

I-I--I'm...nothing? :waa:

You're defined by your lack of avy. :yay:

So, I went to the Comic Book Store today, and picked up a lot of stuff.

All New X-Men issues 1-5, The "Evil Deadpool" tbp, a diamond select Thanos, A Troubled Mind: Superior Spider-Man and the first issue of the new Spidey book. :yay:

I'm enjoying the All New Amazing book, it's very good.

5 more days and I can be defined :cwink:

Yeah, I finished All New Amazing. I'm gonna read X-Men later. :word:

It's a great first issue in my opinion. :yay:

You don't get to read it until your next break? (I assume you have breaks?)

Awesome :word:

That gives me something to look forward to! I leave uni at the end of the month so thats when I'll get my chance :yay:

I technically don't have a break, 15,000 word dissertation due at the end of summer :csad:

The Flash is one of my favorite superheroes, after reading the comics of both Barry and Wally I still prefer Barry Allen, but I appreciated Wally West more than I used to, and I love both Flashes a lot more after reading the entire series for both

And I'm looking forward to seeing the Flash, I didn't pay attention to Arrow, I like Green Arrow, but somehow I can't get myself invested enough to care about his show

I'd love to have the powers of the Flash, with a mix of Spider-Man powers. Flash is better than Quicksilver cause he can do more, and both masked Flashes are known for being mostly noble and less of a jerk, Pietro is reputed to be quite the jerk

You don't have to use it, I just though his face was funny! :funny:

If I could have superpowers, I would love wall-crawling.

and flight, but I can only fly at like 30mph.

Haha cheers, I have a few possibles lined up already too :woot: His face is funny, looks like he just heard Spidey died!

My username isn't to do with him but those are actually my initials too, just a coincidence I used for the sake of these boards :oldrazz:
