:lmao:

Troy Baker sounds great as Joker from the previews we saw

You know something, I managed to tolerate this a bit in the animated form, and the scenes of Batman vs Joker are really good, I love that Joker pushed Batman far enough to finally do what needed to be done a long long time ago
But yeah, I agree on disliking that story

Why do fans praise it so much? Its incredibly dated, the artwork is meh, there is no central plot and the Superman Battle at the end felt so forced and out of place with the rest of the comic.

I am willing to check out the animated version of it though. Is it very similar?

Being dated is not an issue, Frank Miller's GOOD Daredevil run is real good stuff, and it was published before Miller's jump to Batman
Although I don't understand why they like this arc

It's like Watchmen the movie, adapted frame by frame

Have been listening to this song so many times now!

From what I understand, there is a similar Spider-Man story called "Spider-Man: Reign." Is that any good?

I haven't read the whole things, but parts of it on the Internet. To me, it looks like a TDKReturns rip off. I mean, it isn't exactly a rip off. I'd compare it to how every studio now wants to ape Marvel Studios with building connected universes of superheroes.

I also don't like [blackout]the reason MJ is dead[/blackout]

Its definitely inspired by TDKR, but I don't know if its a rip-off based on what I've heard. They are still very different stories it seems, but I could be wrong.

LMAO I heard how MJ dies... so wrong.

As I said, it's not a direct rip-off, but it feels like a "Oh hey Batman has one, and it was successful, we better write such a story too!" comic.

Haven't read it, but it's in my top 3 of "wanting to read" stories.

I'll probably go over to B&N later and give it a read. It looks really good IMO... love the classic artwork.

I have read Spider-Man: Reign, and it's clearly trying to get a similar approach to TDKR.
There are great parts about it, like the new Sinister 6 (Sinner 6), the old suit recovery at MJ's, and it has a good epilogue. I even liked the explanation for [BLACKOUT]MJ's death, it seemed plausible[/BLACKOUT].

But damn, 60 year old Peter Parker is no 60 year old Bruce Wayne. Parker is really ****ed up here. And JJJ, what the hell are you doing here with those children?

That's what I love about Peter Parker as opposed to Bruce Wayne... he is always struggling to get by, and his life is one big uphill battle. Read the quote in my signature. :)

It always seems like Bruce Wayne, no matter what the situation is, can get out of trouble so easily. Its as if he is more super human than Spider-Man or even Superman.

Good quote, from where is it?

Imagine how bad Peter Parker life is in Reign that (SPOILERS)...
He gets fired from his job at a flower shop, he has nightmares about MJ every single night (and about her death), his house gets completely destroyed by a missile, he's unmasked in public, put into shame by the Sinner 6 because his advanced age and, finally, he actually gets his hands dirty, even if he doesn't want to.

And yet, at the end, [BLACKOUT]he assumes that he has responsabilities, and that he can't leave the mantle[/BLACKOUT].

It takes notes from Civil War, or viceversa, not a direct rip of The Dark Knight Returns
The Sinister Six are unleashed by the government
And I think it maybe inspired Bendis in a way, he made [blackout]Jonah respect Peter Parker, knowing he is Spider-Man[/blackout]

I was playing Injustice and for some reason I remembered the Marvel fighting game that came out in 2005, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. Ah, the memories. I really enjoyed that game back then. I just listened to the soundtrack because I remember liking it, and it does hold up. If only I could play it again. The good ol' days.

I hate to say it, but I miss the days before the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before anyone cared about who had the rights to what.

I wouldn't say I don't miss those days, but I am happy we are drastically evolving. Just don't let it bother you when people complain that Spidey or Wolverine aren't in The Avengers. Marvel has enough characters to form Avenger teams with, they haven't even begun to run out of ideas for the "original" team. I kinda wish that Marvel had FF though. Doctor Doom, Galactus, and the Skrulls have to be a part of the MCU.

I really want a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe more than anything.

I like the MCU idea.

I don't like that every single studio is applying it for every single franchise lol

Fox qualifies for having a cinematic universe because they have the X-Men, X-Force, X-Man, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, and Silver Surfer (not to mention countless other mutants I didn't mention here).

Although Sony only has Spider-Man, I think that the Spider-Man universe has plenty of stories to tell that could result in spin-offs and tie-ins (Venom, Sinister Six, Black Cat, and other Spider-Man incarnations such as 2099, Unlimited, Ben Reilly, or Miles Morales).

I think we have to first think about what "cinematic universe" means. Its a universe that is being portrayed through the film medium. So technically the Raimi films are set in one cinematic universe. The Nolan Batman trilogy is set in its own cinematic universe. Spin-offs and tie-ins are not required for a film series to be considered a "cinematic universe," but they are very good at expanding it.

I think it would be awesome to get standalone films for characters other than Spider-Man. The obvious choice is Venom, but what about Doc Ock? A young Green Goblin? How about creating a Spider-Man multiverse?

Fox, Marvel, and WB will have universes and they rightfully deserve them.

Sony is gonna have to be careful. They have Spidey, Black Cat, and Venom. Hell, I think it's their best interest to purchase Daredevil if they possibly could. That would be a nice universe. It's small compared to the universes I mentioned above, but it'd work.

The thing is.... Sony doesn't need to make a cinematic universe full of spin-offs and tie-ins. The focus will always be Spider-Man. They could make a good 6-7 Spider-Man films straight and that would be good enough. At most here and there make a Venom spin-off and maybe one Black Cat film, and that's a golden Cinematic Universe (if the movies are good of course).
