Box Office's official Twitter account has tweeted that "Untitled Wolverine film" has been scheduled to open March 3, 2017.

It's possible it could move around, but wow, Fox is trying the off-season month again. Hopefully it'll stick.

We need a new forum for The Wolverine 2 since it is confirmed now.

Fox Is really thinking outside the box. Captain America opens In early april well we will
open next wolverine In early march.

The Hollywood Reporter: Fox Sets Dates for 'Wolverine,' 'Fantastic Four' Sequels

The studio announced The Fantastic Four 2 will open July 14, 2017, while an untitled Wolverine film will open March 3, 2017. Fox has also slated an untitled Marvel film for July 13, 2018.

Fox owns the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, so the mystery 2018 Marvel film could draw from either of those. It's not unthinkable that the project might even be a crossover between the two.

James Mangold is returning to direct the sequel to The Wolverine, which earned more than $414 million globally last year.

If Hugh says he doesn't want to do it, it's perfectly understandable. I never would have predicted it would still be on-going ten years ago. I've been waiting to see if FOX would just reboot the film series (First Class has proven to just be a prequel, not a reboot) but they keep it going. If this is his swan song, I hope they make it a real one. Strong ending with no post credits scene or anything like that.

I don't know about the March release date.

But I'm happy they already got a release date for it!

Since Hugh was talking to Fox last fall about another film with Mangold and we know he's
doing this film I think it's very likely he's back as wolverine In this film.

I don't think a film coming out less than 10 months after Apocalypse which Is sequel to DOFP will be recasting wolverine.

Hugh's involvement with apocalypse or the mystery 2018 film Is the real question mark
I think not the next wolverine film.

Old Man Logan could be a great send off for Jackman.

I wonder if he'll be in Apocalypse. I wouldn't mind it if he wasn't.

Great news about Mangold returning to direct,Wolverine is one of my top favorite heroes and I love Hugh but I kinda hope this is the end for him or at least lose a lot of the heavy focus!!

Old. Man. Logan.

Title and storyline right there. If Fox is unsure, Wolverine: Old Man Logan.

Also, Yukio. :o

Breaking out my Wolverine shoes and doing my happy dance. :awesome:

I am not entirly sure this will be hugh's last wolverine appearance.

Now with this coming so soon after Apocalypse it's entirly possibly he sits out
Apocalypse.Although maybe Apocalypse will have mid or post credit scene to
setup or tease next wolverine film just as The Wolverine did with DOFP.

Then there Is question what Is the mystery 2018 film. Be it X-Men/FF,X-Men sequel or even X-force Wolverine's appearance is not out of question especilly
If the mystery project Is X-Men/FF film or OT sequel directed by Bryan Singer

On twitter it was pointed out if hugh Is in both this and Apocalypse he would have been in 3 trilogys as wolverine

1:OT
2:Solo Wolverine
3:FC

#LoganRogueAndYukioVersusOmegaRed

I accept nothing else.

Rogue was considered for use In the wolverine so that's not a crazy notion.

I wonder if they would hook up WOlverine and Yukio in film.At times after Mariko and Jean Yukio was considered a great love of Logan's.

Would love to see Liev Schrieber back as well.

Would love to see Liev Schrieber back as well.

As the best actor hired for orgins with possable exception of Ryan Reynolds at begining I wouldn't be opposed to that. There was hint on twitter that james Mangold might be open to that.

Great news! I also think the March release date is a very smart strategic move as well, especially if The Wolverine 3 is going to have a smaller focus like the previous film.

Can't wait to hear more news.

I would love for them to adapt Old Man Logan or create an original tale with Wolverine and Rogue.

I'd prefer to see Wolverine team up with Kitty myself, if given the choice between her and Rogue. The idea of Jackman and Paige playing off each other for an entire movie appeals to me. Of course Yukio must return as well, there's no question about that. I'm wondering if the mystery film might be Jeff Wadlow's X-Force movie?

Just, please none of the creepy fanfiction that turns them into a couple.
No, that's what Yukio is for. She and Wolverine are long-time bang buddies in the comics after all and he did declare herself to be his "bodyguard." :cwink:
