I've heard news that Marvel has stated Wolvie won't be smoking anymore. In light of the recent fiasco with Casino Royale I'm prone to beleive this.

I find this irritating as they can show people killing, drinking, and haveing multiple sex partners but they can't show them smoking now as that might be impressionable to kids.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

I think that would be terrible man! Theyre totally trying to *****fy Wolverine...Im not saying that if u dont smoke ur a p*ssy but c'mon man theyve already changed him quite a bit particularly in the movies.

WTF??? Wolvie smoking cigars will influence kids to smoke them too?? When was the last time you saw a teenager walking around smoking a cigar.... they taste like **** anyway, how would kids feel the need to do that because of a comic/movie..... this is bull

Oh man, pretty soon he will be walking around with gum or having nervous breakdowns, from the lack of nicottine, but if they do that to him, Hellboy will be stuck with suckers. Let the man smoke, its not like he is walking into the movies and handing out cigarettes.
Another note: Doesn't he only actively smoke it once, in the second movie in cerebro, cause in the bar and truck in the first movie it is not lit, and in the third one he is trying ot get his last one lit, but that is the end of it in that one.

Yup I agree.
I think it's a bit insulting to kids and parents I think....To kids: you can't think for yourselves....To parents: you have no control over your kids.

Also, I can't think of one person that started smoking because of some fictional character.

This would be an unjust in the world of comics. For Wolverine to lose one of his most image oriented traits would piss me off. I never smoked cause he did, nor would others. It's just an association that I've always thought Logan had. One of the main differences between us and him is that it doesn't hurt him. He heals and it wouldn't leave to bad lungs and what not. It's not like Marvel is sponsored by cigar companies, ya know? To me its part of the animal that is Wolverine. What's next...he can't drink beer? This is crap if Marvel does this I'm gonna be pissed.

Don't get me wrong I don't want people to smoke, though I do. I just want people to realize that Wolverine like all comic characters needs to have his traits on camera. We all know that more than half the enjoyable parts is seeing the visual traits. The anti-goatee, the hair, the snarling look, the boats, all that. We need it and want it to continue. The only thing I'd change about Wolverine is giving him a more torn english than how Jackman speaks. You know, "Aint that the truth!" or "Hey Bub, you aint goin no where." He's smart but his accent has to be there.

It's similar to the whole debacle with Tom N' Jerry a few months ago. A parents group got all signs of smoking edited out of Tom n' Jerry cartoons because it might give kids the wrong impression.

Think about that for a moment. A cartoon in which the two main characters maim each other, bash each other with heavy mallets, set each other on fire, slice each other to pieces, blow each other up, etc. etc. etc. and the material that needs to be edited out is smoking?

Since when has smoking been more dangerous than direct violence?

Good point. I agree.
