Woman Asks 911 For Permission To Kill Intruder

On the other hand, another friend lives in Kentucky, where you apparently have the right to shoot an intruder at any point, whether they are in your house or just in the lawn. You just can't shoot them in the back.

This guy.

Funny you should post that. I bought Aragorn's dagger as a Christmas gift to myself this year. It's one of the knives I was talking about earlier. It doesn't have an edge (yet) but has a very sharp point on it. I plan on getting an edge put on it very soon, as it is a very nice replica and would be ideal for actual use.

Nice. I've got his Ranger sword. Been looking for the scabbard to go with it for years, but always turn up empty handed.

I just read that this young widow's late husband was 58, and she's just 18. First of all, the age difference was 40 years?! And secondly, 58 is actually quite a young age to die, although he died from lung cancer. I'm just wondering how she will be able to take care of a baby while she's still a teenager and living by herself and the baby.

Anyway, it's terrible for a teenage girl who has a baby to care for when she should've been experiencing colleges and other things that 18-year-olds do.

Cancer kills young people. My dad was 56 when he died from lymphoma.

The age difference is pretty astronomical. I hate to be that guy but....it makes you wonder about certain things.

Its similar in my state. We have a Castle Dictrine which states that your home is your castle and that if you are in your home you do not have to needlessly retreat and that you can stand your ground and defend yourself in whatever way is available to you. You cannot however pursue them outside of your house.

Yeah, there was a huge age difference, and she got married to him at 16. So?

In the UK a farmer was locked up for blowing away from robber low life.
He eventually got out and everyone agreed he was awsome. Then he joined the BNP and people thought, maybe not so awsome.

The thing that the media is forgeting, or not mentioning on purpose, is that the BNP is not a growing problem as they call it, but a symptom of a growing problem.

It IS a reaction to something, and there is a very good chance a lot of people in the UK are feeling something they may not have words for, but somethings seems very not right, they can feel it like a growing anxiety.

It does not help that the government has take away what is one of the most basic human rights. That is the right to self defense.

You cannot by force unarm a civilization, and then fail miserably in unarming the criminals. That will only embolden the criminals, and turn the honest people into waiting victims.

Then people are shocked when there is a growing backlash.

And some people in this country want to abolish guns.

Actually, there was a case not that long ago where someone used a Japanese sword to kill a burglar. Don't rob Samurai Jack's house.

People often underestimate how deadly swords can be.

I've never really known anyone who holds a sword around their house. Then again, I live in England, where weapons aren't stupidly legalised. (I know, I know in some states).

I used to have several swords and daggers but sold them all once I had kids. I just didn't like the idea of them being in the house while the girls were so young. Now that they're almost 6 and 8 I might get some more. And you better beleive that I will run Excalibur through some dude breaking into my house.

I think the fact that you actually know the sword is named Excalibur kind of negates any level of threatening demeanor you may have. :o

Not really.

Most of these guys know the name of Arthur's sword. And if your average criminal broke into their house without a firearm and saw them standing there with a replica in their hand, they would probably turn tail and run.

Yep isn't it great? Only criminals now have guns, and you can go to prison if you defend yourself.

I never understood why they don't change that law. You would think the riots last year would have made some people rethink that one. But you can still own a crossbow in England last I checked.

Scotland actually has a law on the books that states that it's illegal to be drunk in a public place while in possession of a crossbow. Only in Scotland.

The United States has a number of laws dealing with carrying swords in public. But they don't come up much. They are allowed in private homes though far as I know.

This is true. I'm not sure about in public however. I would not be frightened if I saw someone with a sword.

As for walking around with a gun, most states that allow people to take their firearm out of the home require a permit to do so. The permit (often called a conceal and carry) requires the person to take a safety course, as well as a course on the laws involved, when you can and cannot use it, as well as a proficiency test so that if they ever have to use it they don’t accidentally shoot the wrong target.

When there are situations with riots and gun violence in general, those weapons are usually not legally bought and sold. There is a massive influx of illegal firearms that enter the country every year, likely from the same trafficking that involves drugs. Our drug policy is another failed program all together.

If someone who legally owns a firearm is convicted of any violent act, even simple assault, even if it is not involving the firearm, they lose their firearm and any permits they have along with it.

Besides our constitutional 2nd amendment (the document is of a lot of importance in the USA) the other reason they are still legal to own, is that illegal ones have not been completely removed from the hands of criminals, or even close to it.

If someone wants to live in a country where only criminals are armed, there are a lot of places they can live.

I feel plenty safe living in an area where a lot of honest and competent responsible people are armed, as I have piece of mind that if someone pulls a gun on me, there will always be a good guy close by who can tell him to put down his weapon, and back it up with one of his own.

If it were possible to remove firearms from every bad guy, but as a condition I had to give up mine too, I would be fine with that and gladly hand it over. That is a perfect world scenario. I doubt we will ever see it come to pass, but in an effort to get there we should not be disarming the honest people first. That is the wrong order of events.

I have a samurai sword on a base on display in my house. It's quite sharp.

Self-defense should be a fundamental right. And accordingly people really should be allowed to own whatever the standard weapon of the time is. In the Stone Age, it would have been a club, in the Iron Age, a sword, etcetera.

Governments that forbid their citizens from legally owning weapons of any kind don't seem to have a high opinion of their own citizens. Or they're just terrified of them.

Most of my neighbors own guns. It's surprising that people try anything around here

I have a Kitana sword and I'm not afraid to use it. :awesome:

HERE'S THE LINK

It's so sad what this woman's gone through and then to be put in this position. The fact that she had the state of mind to feed her baby so that it would remain quiet impressed me. I think she handled this situation perfectly.

I hope she shot twice.

Not sure if it's been brought up yet but she followed the exact protocol you're supposed to in those situations. Everything was 100% legal (if it happened here in PA).

Props to her for keeping her cool and protecting her child

Good for her.

Those *******s deserved to die, if they had to resort to robbing people's houses. It's not like she killed someone innocent.
