World War Z Sequel

Fincher is not doing this. There is just no way.

I feel like this is something that'll be a crazy story for a bit, then will be mostly forgotten and eventually will just never materialize.

So I see we're already on phase two...

You were right on the money. I can't see this going anywhere.

Like Burton's first Alice in Wonderland, I think the film made money out of certain circumstances (good timing, maybe weak competition?) but I can't see the sequel doing well.

Damn :csad: wonder what will happen to this Now?

If they want a director, get the guy who did The Girl With All The Gifts, it's a great zombie flick.

They are better off not doing a sequel and just sticking with this one. Not everything needs to get a sequel.

The movie is good, but it pales in comparison to the book.

The book adaptation should have been a tv show, but it might have clashed with The Walking Dead, even if they are different.

Brad Pitt’s ‘World War Z’ Sequel Set for June 9, 2017

Paramount Pictures has set a June 9, 2017, release date for the sequel to “World War Z.”

Variety reported a year ago that the studio had hired Steven Knight to write the sequel, which is co-financed by Skydance. J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”) will direct the zombie tentpole with Brad Pitt returning in the starring role.

Plot details for the film, based on Max Brooks’ novel, have been kept under wraps. Pitt will produce the tentpole alongside Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner for Plan B.

“World War Z,” directed by Marc Forster, earned more than $540 million worldwide in 2013 and became the highest-grossing film of Pitt’s career.

The sequel is the second title dated for June 9, 2017. Fox has also set “Fantastic Four 2″ for the same date.

This movie and FF 2 was supposed to be released one week after Wonder Woman, both movies lost their chance though.

Well The Walking Dead doesn't have a monopoly on zombie TV shows. There are more then one.

SyFy has Z nation. Netflix has Santa Clarita Diet.

CW has iZombie.

Santa Clarita Diet is a zombie show? When I first got an alert about it, I thought it was some nutrition advice show.

David Fincher closes deal to direct "World War Z 2" (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/2pnplIr

After previously taking the film off its calendar, Paramount Pictures looks to be moving forward with a “World War Z” sequel, with David Fincher directing and Brad Pitt back to star, thanks to the studio’s new chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos, according to knowledgeable sources.
While Gianopulos has not officially official greenlit the movie yet, he is expected to do so in coming weeks. This will likely be among the studio chief’s first greenlit movies.

Sources say that production would probably begin in the first quarter of 2018.
A spokesperson for the studio has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Variety first reported last summer that Pitt had been courting Fincher to direct the pic and that the director was intrigued by the idea. The plans had to be put on hold while Pitt dealt with his divorce from Angelina Jolie, and were put into question once the studio, then headed by Brad Grey, took the film off the calendar to consider whether or not to move forward with the tentpole.
Gianopulos has since taken over the studio reins and over the past month, has been weighing which projects to pursue and let go from the previous regime’s slate.
If the deal is finalized as expected, it would mark a big milestone in the long development process that started last summer. Pitt met with a handful of directors but nothing materialized until he decided to reach out to Fincher to try and woo him for another collaboration.
Gianopulos has a long standing relationship with the director, going back to Fincher’s most recent film, 2014’s “Gone Girl,” which Gianopolus gave the go-ahead to when he was chairman at 20th Century Fox. Fincher and Pitt made their 1999 feature “Fight Club” at Fox.
Fincher hasn’t directed a film since “Gone Girl.” The filmmaker has been turning his attention to television as of late. He recently shot the Netflix pilot “Mind Hunters.”
Sources say that Fincher, who is weary of sequels, having aired his displeasure during his time on “Alien 3,” has always been open to listening to Pitt when the actor reaches out. The duo nearly collaborated on a reboot of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” for Disney a few years ago, but that project never move forward.
A Fincher-Pitt reunion on “World War Z” would mark their fourth film together, having previously worked on “Se7en,” “Fight Club,” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

I mean, if Fincher really wants to do it then I'll be first in line. Still, this seems like such an odd choice for him.

He expects top money be spent on his projects. It was budget disputes that killed all his HBO shows. So his options are kind of limited. If he wants a 100M+ budget (and probably total control) he gets it on WWZ. Plus gets to work with Brad Pitt again.

This should be interesting...
Now get Sorkin on it. <__< >__>

Fincher doing a zombie movie. It makes a weird kind of sense.

I'll be damned.

I really (really) hoped he'd take notice of the success of Interstellar and Arrival and try to bring back his adaptation of Rendezvous with Rama but I guess this'll do.

I'm a big fan of Fincher.

I liked the first one. I understand the production was troubled but it didn't deserve the hate it got

Fincher doing this after Alien 3 fun time?

He must need the money.

Good lord, I can't imagine what Paramount must've promised him in return.

Well, the former Fox head is now in charge of Paramount. He likely guaranteed Fincher creative freedom and final cut, provides that he deliver the film on time and on budget.

Well this is gonna be interesting because he won't :funny:

I'm excited by the idea of Fincher zombie movie . Hope it doesn't fall through again.
