would you major in something because of the money or for the love of it?

This is one of the major reasons why a Liberal Arts degree is becoming both popular and respected by businesses now.

Liberal arts is pointless. Quite frankly I don't see the point of a college degree period unless you're studying something specific that requires it in your field of study. If you're undecided about what you want to major in halfway thru just drop out before you spend a fortune in student loans you'll never be able to pay back. A huge debt will hold you back more when you graduate than lacking a college degree.

Actual education, you know, bettering yourself, classical learning and all that. That's always a nice thing to do. They have vocational schools too, that's what you're talking about more than college.

None of those things are necessarily synonymous with a college degree. Most ppl don't even remember the things they learn.

That's not what I'm talking about at all. For instance students studying business or science should attend college and major in those fields in order to pursue their career. But what am I going to do with a liberal arts degree? Great I'll graduate college and then wait tables.

For the love of it... If you work 8hrs a day in something you hate it isn't worthy.

If you love what you do then (suposedly) you will put your effort on it and do it in an awesome way, therefore money won't be a problem.

Technically you can get rich doing anything, as long as you get smart and work hard.

For the cash, sometimes you can find something that pays well that you enjoy and that's awesome. But you're not going to be having a good time if you can't pay your bills.

I took herpetology because you can make decent wages if you get the right job and I loved the work. But I also took business as a back up plan, thank god I did. I hate the dull job of a manager but the increase in a pay check is what keeps me from sucking on a shotgun.

I want to major in ice cream and puppies.

but ice cream and puppy majors are underpaid. :csad:
