Okay, officially colour me team broken. I've been won over by the absolute bat **** insanity of it all.
I've had a weird journey with Matt Hardy. I can't help but root for the underdog so when The Hardys broke up, I was willing him to be a success. For me, Version 1 was very much that, but ultimately held back by the era it was in.
Then Matt got fired, let himself get dragged into the gutter and get rehired into a ******** shoot feud that was never going to play to his strengths (but did play to the strengths of his rival). After that, Hardy never really recovered. They gave him the odd token run but you knew it wouldn't go anywhere, and even worse, Matt seemed fine with that. He became complacent.
And then he was gone. Out of shape, domestics and sleepwalking through the next few years out of his head, for years he's just look like a guy who was going to crash and burn. And I genuinely feared Matt was going to end up a number like so many before him.
But in the last year or more he's turned it around to an almost insane level. Back in shape and the architect of one of the most interesting things done in the industry in years, he's so over again that people are chanting his phrases on WWE TELEVISION. For someone called Fat Hardy and treated like dead weight around Jeff by fans not so long ago, that is truly unbelievable.
I'm so happy for the guy and that Jeff and Reby are getting to partake in it too. I know there's dubious rumours about WWE looking at him again but I don't want him to go back, because I know how it will end up. But I know Matt said he'd like one more run so I wouldn't begrudge the guy (or Jeff), but I honestly don't think they need it.
