As noted, TNA President Billy Corgan was today’s guest on ESPN Radio’s Dan Le Batard Show, and the following are more highlights from Corgan addressing the current TNA sale situation.


Corgan said the current TNA situation is complicated because pro wrestling is struggling with revenue, and a pro wrestling show will typically generate much lower revenue than a show with similar, or even lower ratings. Corgan added not only is there a money struggle within TNA right now, but there is also a creative struggle.


Corgan confirmed Vince McMahon’s interest in buying TNA, but he said as of right now Vince has not purchased the company and Corgan would be the first person to know since he has a stake in TNA.

When asked about his pro wrestling philosophy, and how he would create a unique wrestling product compared to WWE, Corgan admitted WWE has really been the only wrestling company with a winning philosophy.


Corgan thinks he could create a different type of product with TNA, but there are obstacles in the way as others in the company have a completely different vision for how TNA and Impact Wrestling should be presented. Corgan also stressed the importance of consistent capital for TNA, which is something he said the company has not had in a long time.

I was a little surprised by Mandy Rose. She's not a great wrestler, but as CM said, she's at least better than Eva Marie. She throws effective-looking strikes, which a lot of women wrestlers historically have had trouble with, so if you factor in a learning curve and her stripper-quality looks, she might really make it in the business.

Mandy Rose seems to be putting in lots of work at the training center as do most of the women they signed since the women's wrestling revamp. Rose seems to be doing ok, she looks good and she can talk. She has a solid gimmick/character as well. If Eva Marie wasn't signed to the same agency as The Rock and the WWE hadn't invested so much resources into her then I think Eva would of probably been fired by now. Rose can already probably do everything Eva can do and do it better.

Got my Bound For Glory e-mail confirmation so I guess everything's okay for the show?

He had everything you need for a Main Eventer nowadays, but the wwe never really pulled the trigger with him.

I think they had big plans for Ziggler since he was hot with the crowd back then, but once he got the concussion, that killed whatever plans McMahon had for him. I think being injury prone is also why officials gave up on Bray Wyatt.

It's the race horse mentality.

Yeah, I can't hate on The Bellas either despite their rumored backstage shenanigans. I met them shortly after they left WWE hosting a party in Vegas (I posted the picture here 4 years ago) then when I met them again for a signing 4 months later in Los Angeles, they remembered me!

So, someone not knowing about a dance crew makes them dumb? Not everyone has heard of them. I only know who they are because they showed up on TV for 5 minutes and I don't forget random things like that.

Dixie Carter doesn't have the money for another set of tapings. There's question about whether or not they'll even be able to put Bound for Glory on.

If they don't make it to their next set of tapings it will violate TV and PPV deals and all their broadcasters can essentially drop them. That would be the end.

For everything to get settled in time to put on the PPV and subsequent TV tapings, they'll have to know for sure by tomorrow.

The potential situations are (not ranked in order of likelihood):

1. Nobody buys TNA, it just dies
2. WWE buys TNA, absorbs the tape library and some wrestlers, guts the rest and shuts it down
3. Billy Corgan buys TNA, changes the name, tries to get house shows running again, things continue basically as normal otherwise
4. Aroluxe buys TNA and moves to more of a Lucha Underground model with just a few huge sets of TV tapings per year
5. Some unknown player buys TNA. There had been speculation in the past about Sinclair Broadcast Group, the parent company of Ring of Honor, but I haven't heard their name mentioned in a little while.

A big issue is that TNA has many co-owners and creditors, so whoever buys it will have to deal with a lot of red tape. Dixie Carter owns 70% with the rest split between Billy Corgan, Aroluxe, and Fite TV.
