No, I think Oct. 1 was around the time they went off air and went strictly to the site.

Well crap. I miss Velocity and Heat.

Wait, what's Jimmy Yang going to do now that Velocity is gone?

CM Punk and Francine are scheduled to make their ECW debuts this Saturday at the first ECW house show at the old ECW Arena. Test may also make his debut.

Ugh put Cm Punk on SD with his own incredibly hot Girlfriend, don't lumber him with that old lockeroom swallowing sow:mad:

Is Punk gonna totally attack Sandman or something?
I hope not,Sandman will not be any help for Punk and it would probably be a rehash of his ROH angle with Raven

This begs the question...

When will Punk debut on television?

The FallenAngel said:
Well, he returned to work on Heat, so I'm guessing he'll stay there.

I had no idea. I can't watch the webcasts of the shows.

Punk should really be on Smackdown, but I guess we have to make due. I have no idea how they'd introduce him, though.

I'm thinking that's what they're setting up for. Sandman will keep destroying the lame gimmicks. One day, it'll be a lame gimmick and that person will be revealed to be Punk, who would proceed to beat up Sandman

And doesn't Punk's "straight-edge" gimmick kind of mesh with Sandman's gimmick?

Yeah it does mesh with it but thats the same angle he did with Raven already and carrying Sandman will be death for Punk,Sandman should stick to run ins and the odd match with guys who can afford to look sh1tty

I'd like to see Punk work an angle with, well, Angle. Dream match for me, personally.

I still don't know how I feel about Test going to ECW.

It might just be a small-time thing just to help introduce Punk though.....

If he kills Sandman dead within the first 3 weeks then ok but if it becomes an actual storyline Punk is Sunk:(

Speaking of ECW...after this whole interpromotional angle ends (which is hopefully at Vengeance) ECW needs some PPV's.

That, and they need to start utilizing guys like Justin Credible and C.W. Anderson.

Hopefully the whole "low lockerroom morale" thing is just pseudo dirtsheet bull****.

They have another PPV in December as for the lockeroom stuff,it's hard to blame the older ECW guys for feeling they have basically taken a job on a glorified HEAT

December?

Ugh, they need to do PPV's like Heatwave and November to Remember if this thing is ever going to get off the ground.

I don't think they should be all upset just yet...the show has just started. It's going to be very difficult for ECW to come out of its shell and go back to its old ways with the McMahons so closely involved. But I have confidence that Paul can pull it off.

I agree but the last i heard from Meltzer was December which they may use to do a Massacre on 34th street

Well i think it's gonna take a miracle, one hour a week,so many WWE guys over there and only 2 PPV's a year BUT the biggest thing is they must get away from taping the show after SD and get inot their own smaller venues

I hope that's how it ends up...but you know Vince couldn't bear something associated with the WWE in small time venues on television every week.

While that is the ideal situation, ECW will have to make due with what they've got right now.

Although getting away from SD and doing a large portion of their shows in the Hammerstein Ballroom might not be too hard to pull off.

Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch burst onto the RAW tag team scene on Sept. 5, 2005 and within mere weeks, the duo had risen to the top of the mountain and become World Tag Team Champions. They had catapulted to great heights in no time, but almost as suddenly, the duo lost the gold and parted ways. After a few months of trying their hands at singles competition, both Cade and Murdoch came to a realization. As singles competitors they were forces to be reckoned with, but as a cohesive unit, they are damn near unstoppable. Now, the former World Tag Team Champions are back together and looking better than ever.

The decision to reunite as a tag team was an obvious one according to Cade.

“There hasn’t been a tag team as good as us since around WrestleMania 2000. “We never should have broken up in the first place. It was a bad decision on our parts. We’re not living in the past, though. We made the decision, we accept that we made it, but we realize it was a bad decision.”

Cade also added that if they hadn’t broken up, then perhaps they wouldn’t be dominating the way that they are right now.

“Sometimes you have to take one step backwards to take two steps forward. That’s exactly what happened during the winter. We took a step backwards when we did the singles thing for about five months, but I think we took two steps forward during the European tour after WrestleMania. And I think we’ve taken steps forward every month since then. I think we’ve been taking a huge step here in June, and the same thing is going to happen in July.”

Busta Rhymes
Murdoch seems to share the same sentiment as his partner, but he put things a little more bluntly.

“Lance and I together are the baddest mother F’ers here. I don’t care who hears it. I don’t care who knows it. And together, there ain’t no one that can stop us, and we both know that. If you watch us wrestle, then you’ll know it too,” said Murdoch.

Cade & Murdoch have been racking up wins left and right as of late, but the former Champs have more on their mind than just winning matches.

“There ain’t no stopping us right now,” said Murdoch. “What you’re looking at right now is a train with one destination. We’re going to keep going through people until we get what we want, and that to become the next World Tag Team Champions.”

So, even though the current World Tag Team Champions, the Spirit Squad, seem to have their hands full with D-Generation X, Cade & Murdoch have also put a target on their backs.

“It’s pretty easy to hold onto the Championship when there are five guys,” said Cade. “We’re two guys. This is a tag team. This is a traditional tag team, and there is no other tag team in WWE like us. I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it again, there is no tag team that trains together, rides together on the road, stays together in hotels, gets in trouble outside the building together, gets in trouble inside the building together…”

“Drinks together, chases ladies together,” Murdoch was sure to add.

“There used to be so many tag teams in professional wrestling, but somewhere along the way that changed,” said Cade. “It’s not a lack of talent, it was just lost. It was lost because there were too many selfish individuals that wanted all the glory for themselves. Trevor and I can get what we want, which is the same as what everyone else wants, but we can do it together.”

Cade & Murdoch’s confidence has obviously reached all-time highs as they have even been providing their own commentary during their matches. While one member of the team is brutalizing his opponent, the other has been giving their own, unique version of the play by play action.

“Lance and I want to make it a point to everybody in the WWE locker room that we can kick your ass,” said Murdoch. “And not only can we kick your ass, but we can tell you we’re going to kick your ass while we’re doing it, and there ain’t nothing more embarrassing than that.”

“We just do whatever the hell we please,” said Cade. “There’s no other way around it. You can turn our microphone off, but we’re going to kick your ass and if you have another problem with it, then have the balls to come out and stop us. No one has yet, so…”

Not only do Cade & Murdoch sound different with their unique commentary week in and week out, Cade in particular has a different look than the last time he was teaming up with Murdoch. When the duo debuted, Cade was sporting flowing, blond locks, but he has gone to a more rugged look with his natural black hair.

“I thought I’d go back to my natural color of dark, because you know what? I’m not going to be ashamed of who we are anymore,” said Cade. “We’re two bad rednecks. We’re not cowboys; we’re not truckers; we’re rednecks. We live, breathe and do our own thing. It’s a way of life we have, and I’m not going to be ashamed of it just because we’re here in WWE. We are who we are, and we’re not afraid to tell you.”

In fact, Murdoch’s message is loud and clear.

“We just want to make sure that we put everybody, all the WWE Superstars, on notice that Cade & Murdoch are back in town, and we’re out for blood. Y’all think about that.”

Interesting read. But their push won't last very long anyhow.

If WWE plans to take the ECW brand seriously they need at least quarterly PPVs, starting with Heatwave in August. This is a way they can showcase all their stars and set up some non-WWE related storylines pushing the ECW talent.

Most Extreme Player for 6/22
By Joey Styles
June 22, 2006

Before getting down to business, I would just like to go on record as saying that I loved this week's episode of ECW on SciFi as much as I hated last week's premier.

In fact, I feel that this week's episode of ECW is almost ( I say almost because I hate fireworks at wrestling shows and I always will) exactly what the NEW ECW needs to be in order for ECW to eventually be as strong a brand as RAW is in terms of worldwide television ratings, pay-per-view buys and live event ticket sales.

I predict that within five years, the NEW ECW will sell out 20,000 seat arenas like The Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and Madison Square Garden in New York rather than small venues like The ECW Arena and Hammerstein Ballroom respectively. I am not downplaying the signifigance of those smaller arenas in the history of ECW but I need to see and hear 20,000 extremely passionate ECW fans chanting "E-C-DUB!" before I can consider my career complete.

For you internet cynics who are instinctively replying "Dream on, Joey!" to your PCs and laptops, keep in mind that "Dream on, Joey!" is the same response I received from everyone who ever knew I wanted to become a pro wrestling television announcer. However, here I am penning (actually typing) this column as the Voice of ECW, cable television's new ratings powerhouse. In short, the only person who tells me what is and is not possible is me and I know that the true ECW fans reading this column agree with me.

Now let's get down to the business at hand.

Choosing this week's ECW Most Extreme Player is going to be difficult because there are so many qualified candidates such as...

The Sandman for being a perfect example of what a REAL bad ass looks like and disposing of yet another sports-entertainment brain-fart named Macho Libre. In fact, I would like to suggest the following opponents for The Extreme Icon for future episodes of ECW on SciFi:

Doink the Clown
Papa Shango
Akeem
Repo Man

Tommy Dreamer, the heart and soul of ECW, for asking for and withstanding the most extreme ass-kicking that The Big Show has ever dished out and never backing down. In fact, my friend Tommy was smiling as he struggled to pull his battered body up off of the ECW canvas. Terry Funk would be proud of you Tommy and so am I.

The Big Show for delivering the aformementioned extreme ass-kicking. I guess The Innovator of Violence can inspire more emotion in the world's largest athlete than male cheerleaders could.

Randy Orton and Edge for bringing with them RAW television viewers only to show them and the millions of others watching what the rest of us already knew; that ECW's wrestling rebels are tougher than RAWs sports-entertainment superstars.

Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam for winning their tag team war and heading into Vengeance this Sunday with the confidence that they can (and will) beat Randy Orton and Edge respectively.

Kelly for two reasons.

and this week's Most Extreme Player is...

Sabu for making the most of the opportunity to FINALLY wrestle for more than 3 million television viewers by showing the world that The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying Maniac is the most innovative and dangerous competitor ever to compete in the greatest sport in the world.

Cynics and ECW haters can send feedback to me at [email protected]

I actually agree with him, and I give him big props for speaking out.
