WTF? I thought the Cold War was over

Movies gets it, that's why he's a Survivor staple, because he gets stuff. And Movies, never tell me to take it like a man again, not since that month in prison anyway.:cmad:

Typo, don't you look stupid now

Shh! as we trap that pesky noob with the bait, you see noobs have no sense of reality, kainedamo will completely ignore the fact that my comment is italized, and then jump at the oppertunity of bashing Darthphere, let's sit back and watch the fun...

All right WTF... kainedamo goes on about how everyone doesn't like Darthphere and what not... Someone posts against this and he disappears... I CALL COWARDICE!! :cmad:

Okay, so maybe not communism. But some socialistic tendencies sure couldn't hurt. It's just never going to happen, because a bunch of hypocritical aristocrats 250 years ago wrote that "all men are created equal" and then proceeded to allow only 10% of the population to vote.

this statement deserves applauses

The Cold War ended in the 1970`s..but was truely ended when the Soviet Union fell appart.

^^^

Actually, I doubt it was ever ended. As long as Russia and USA aren't friends, Cold War won't end :(

But there is hope that it will, right after next year, when presidents of both countries will be changed by new ones. They will either continue this war or forget about it and become real partners (it could happen in early 60s, when Kennedy and Khrushchev started to improve relations between USA and USSR; or when Ronald Reagan and Gorbachev became close friends; even when Clinton and Yeltsin developed demecratic way of politics in Russia after break-up of Soviet Union).

I dig that. To add, Russia and US have a long history, one wants to outperform the other in everything like 2 rival co-workers in a big company. And Russia believes it's still a superpower and ofcourse the US is just as proud to be one. The cold war, hot war, lukewarm war, or whatever war they're into now won't end. :csad:

as I said, it won't end until two countries will get new presidents, who will ecome close friends and forget about the war (and I've already mentioned the examples of real partnership between USA and Russia) ;)

The Cold War ended after the Soviet Union collapse. For god's sake, I thought that that was an historical fact.

The cold war was the conflict between the communist world leaded by the Soviet Union and the capitalist, leaded by US . Communism is dead, therefore there is no more Cold War.

Yeah, it ended after the Soviet Union collapsed, but it was pretty much over in the 1970's where it was pretty clear that that United States would be the victor. And then Reagan handed them their ass by his massive military spending.

anyone see a good side to this new cold war they can use the cold war subplot for blonskys origin in the new hulk.

J/K trying to shed some humor on the subject.

Putin: Missile tests response to U.S.
The Associated Press
Article Launched: 06/01/2007 12:00:00 AM PDT

MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that tests of new Russian missiles were a response to the planned deployment of U.S. missile defense installations and other forces in Europe, suggesting Washington has triggered a new arms race.
In a clear reference to the United States, he harshly criticized "imperialism" in global affairs and warned that Russia will strengthen its military potential to maintain a global strategic balance.
"It wasn't us who initiated a new round of arms race," Putin said when asked about Russia's missile tests at a news conference after talks in the Kremlin with Greek President Karolos Papoulias.
Putin described Tuesday's tests of a new ballistic missile capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads and a new cruise missile as part of the Russian response to the planned deployment of new U.S. military bases and missile defense sites in ex-Soviet satellites in Central and Eastern Europe.
He assailed the United States and other NATO members for failing to ratify an amended version of the 1990 Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty, which limits the deployment of heavy non-nuclear weapons around the continent. "We have signed and ratified the CFE and are fully implementing it. We have pulled out all our heavy weapons from the European part of Russia to (locations) behind the Ural Mountains and cut our military by 300,000 men," Putin said.

"And what about our partners? They are filling Eastern Europe with new weapons. A new base in Bulgaria, another one in Romania, a (missile defense) site in Poland and a radar in the Czech Republic," he said. "What we are supposed to do? We can't just sit back and look at that." Putin and other Russian officials have repeatedly rejected U.S. assurances that the planned missile defense installations are meant to counter a potential threat from nations such as Iran and pose no danger to Russia.

It was over.

Thank you President Bush for starting it back up!

Dude, George Bush didn't start this one. Russia would have probably would have developed this anyways. This is Putin we're talking about.

Well if its Putin we're talking about then I think he is right on the money in his and Russia's response.

So the correct response to a missle defense system is to target nuclear weapons at Europe?

Yeah, I can't see that working out badly at all.

I think the USA should worry about the REAL Cold War brewing on the horizon...

Maybe Putin should just bake them a cake and wish them luck with their plans for Global domination.

The only difference between this and what we did is that the U.S. was strong enough to get away with it and Canada isn't.

If he did that he would be kick ass in everyone's opinion and would have made the US look like war mongering @ssholes but instead he completely does the most @ick move anyone could think of and decides to point nukes at denmark. WTF did denmark do except take a system designed to protect against missle strikes?

That's the sad part. It's like the fat kid at school beating kids up for their lunch money :(

Well if its Putin we're talking about then I think he is right on the money in his and Russia's response.

But chances are that if America didn't build the AMD shield, Russia would have still gone through with it.

Putin still acts as if Russia was in the Cold War by arrogantly thinking that the former Soviet republics and satelites belong to Russia and eroding democracy.

That's official statement. But if we don't count it, Cold War still exists and nothing will stop it until both USA and Russia becomes real friends (sadly, we aren't seeing it right now) :(
