  • The Animated Series

The two are about even in my book. Live action is always more impressive than animation but anything is possible in animation while live action is restricted.

The movies.

The show pretty much ****ed up Angel turning into Apocalypse's Horsemen. I didn't expect a suicide attempt, but him wanting to get cured was the polar opposite of his character.
Eh the setup was poor for Angel, but the execution of his character afterwards was brillant...he was much better in Evolution.

I rewatched it at 21 once and was sitting there going "ya know, Wolverine is not stabbing anyone:( :down "

Hehe...thats was the main thing about TAS that I didn't like, they really wussified Wolvie since he couldn't stab people well, for a kiddies show I guess that was the limit.

Comics - but only cuz there were so many and i loved so much fo them...

If they have 20 odd movies (like the Bond Movies) then I would probably prefer the movie's! But as it is now, i can't compare 3 movies to a few years worth of cartoons!

I dunno about TAS vs. Evo. I mean TAS was classic and nearly ripped from the pages. Evo was an attempt at something new. Alot of people hated the de-aging. Some loved it. It was a great oppurtiny to start fresh, new personalities, realationships, storylines, etc. (Although another wasted oppurtinity for ROLO...that might be fixed when the new Evo comes out next year)

Another good question would be Evo vs. UXM

Now i think it would be interesting if they tried doing a UXM cartoon, if done right it could be very interesting.

Afterwards, yes.

I'm not expecting suicide attempts, but Warren wouldn't have wanted to get cured. They messed that all up.

However, I haven't seen Evolution.

How the hell can you ask us to make a decision between the movies and the cartoon, both are entirely different worlds.

The animated series wins hands down in my opinion. The movies other then being live action, can't hold a candle to it. X-men: Evolution was also very good and interesting take on the X-men story be messing with the ages and setting.

The movies is to much of the "Wolverine Show" in it's presentation. I could understand the first film since he was joining the team and was the big brother figure for Rogue. And even the in the second film since it dealt with the Weapon X storyline. He should not have been the focus in X3 though. That should have been Scott all the way. They basiclly took roles that should have been for Cyclops and put Wolverine in them.

That isn't my only problem with the movies though. That's just the one that really stands out when I compared the films with the cartoon. Also because the cartoons were on for a long time they were able to expand on things a lot better.

The cartoons while not a direct copy of the comic, had a much better presentation of the X-men world and characters. I'd galdly watch it any day of the week.

The orginal cartoon i have seen all of them and i loved it! I also love evolution as well.

To me, this is no contest. The animated series was fantastic. It was Marvel's best series (except for maybe the very short lived Silver Surfer, so sad it only lasted one season). The series stayed faithful to the comics for the most part, and the voice acting was fantastic (especially in the cases of Wolverine and the first person who voiced Magneto). I only wish the final episode of the animated series was two parts instead of only being one.

TAS by default :o

Take the best eps from TAS..turn it into a real life film 95% of the fans probably wouldnt be complaining

*SPOILERS!*

So you consider Graduation Day with Xavier dying a high note?

Magneto took over so yes.

TAS>>>>>>>>movies

Movies

I just went back and watched an episode from TAS and it was pretty lame. For all the people complaining about lack of character development in X3... damn, TAS is just lame. Too... cartoony.

I did like Evolution though.

For me it's both Singer Movies and Evolution.

I watched TAS when I was younger, but today it just seems too corny and some of the voice over's are just horrid. Juggernaut, Wolverine and Xavier come to mind. :(

I liked TAS is much more. The movie has too much wolverine, enough of that guy already.
And I loved the butt-kicking Rogue from the cartoon, movie Rogue was worhtless.

The first season or so of the animated series was fantastic. Even held back by things like not being allowed to ever show Wolverine cut loose, it really nailed it.

But everything after that season and maaaybe part of the second season, was just a consistently steady decline into cheesy mediocrity and confusingly complicated adaptions of all the non-mutant related comic book storylines.

So overall, as much nostalgia as I have for that cartoon.... I go with the movies.

TAS.

The first two movies were toned down versions with mature storytelling of TAS. Well done.

The thrid movie felt like a hammed up version of Evolution.

TAS was consitantly good and not 1/3 crap, so it wins.

The cartoon was great...but went downhill after the Dark Phoenix saga. They changed Gambit's voice, and the animation was sub-par.

I couldn't stand Storm's voice on TAS. It was so melodramatic!
