I shall update the first post regularly to show the current box office total. Let me know if you disagree with any of the information at any time.

This is primarily an information thread, not to be confused with some of the older box office threads, but on topic discussion is welcome.

You will see a huge weekend. The question is, will it last after the word gets out.

X3 will be X2's opening weekend.

Ooh, this is intense!

Good idea for a thread, I/P.

I'm expecting $100m+ for the four day weekend with very significant falls in future weekends.

I just realized my ticket stub reads "The DaVinci Code"! Oh no!!!! :p

Judging from the sold-out show I saw this afternoon, and the mob scene waiting in line for the next shows, I'm guessing this one is doing pretty well this weekend.

I talked 4 people out of seeing it today!

No really, I did!

We'll soon find out how damaging the "Heretic Effect" is.

what word is my question, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean everyone wont

if it hits BOM's perdiction of 102 over memerial day X-men will see it's 5th life

The stupid ticket man charged my ticket as an adult price...that better helped! :p

if x3 does not make over 200 mil it'll be a clear sign to fox that what they did was a step in the wrong direction. also if it does not beat out x2s opening weekend of 85 mil.. word of mouth will spread and you will see the they will hurt the movie financially..

Word of mouth happens for every movie. Positive and negative. You saw MI3 hold steady. You saw Matrix Revoltion drop. Get it?

I have no doubt it will make at least 85 million.

Is that supposed to be sarcastic?? well pally, I will have you know that the Heretic Effect has managed to keep girls away ever since high school.

Its gotta impact ticket sales or else itd just be pathetic.

okay, its pathetic either way.

The midnight showings were tracking ahead of Harry Potter's last outing...so this film could have made 8+ million just from midnight shows...expect a huge first day!

The movie has been tearing our theater apart...We have 21 theaters and We have X3 on 5 screens, so we've been showing X3 almost every 35 minutes. Pratically every show from noon to midnight today (Friday) were sold out. I've never seen anything like it..

Anything under $200m will be a mini-disaster. The film will still be profitable with international box office, dvd and other products but the chance of a studio taking a risk on X-Men again in the near future would fall dramatically.

It wouldnt be a risk if theyd make a decent movie.

sorry but theres no way its not going to beat X2's opening weekend.. there were 4 showings after 12am last night... and all 4 showings sold out and wrapped around the block

Early reports have this doing better than Spider-Man 2 so far... we'll see Saturday morning.

I'll make an adjustment to the BO figures to strip out the H effect.

From what I can tell the general audience who are not comic book buffs are loving the movie...my father's exact words were... "That was awesome!" And let me remind you that he is not a big comic book movie fan. lol.
