X3's competition getting slammed by critics!

Very solid weekend for that movie but X2 sold more tickets. Ticket prices are higher today. So if X3 sells the same amount of tickets as X2 then X3 should make make more than X2's or DaVinci's first 3 days plus the Holiday so 100 million is right there...if not more now. The only question is how will DaVinici hold up in the actual #'s. Still I think X3 will get repeat viewings in the first 4 days while DaVinici won't.
 
The numbers have not been talied yet....


I only trust Box office Mojo and even they estimate for Sunday
 
Well, Da Vinci made 77 million in the U.S., 224 million worldwide. Not the biggest opening ever, but the biggest this year. I have a sneaking suspicion that it will drop a lot by next week.
 
Yeah...OTH deserved to make more...It was better than Ice Age 2 and way better than The Wild...

I wouldn't be surprised if they made a sequel for it...

In point of fact, the only cast member used to having such box office success is Sir Ian McKellen. This is only his second-biggest opening after X2: X-Men United's $85.6 million. It is also a total he might surpass in seven days, as the actor is poised to make box office history next Sunday. If X-Men: The Last Stand opens as well as tracking would indicate, he will become the first actor with a major role in consecutive $70 million opening weekends. While no one argue he is a box office draw on his own, McKellen is quietly assembling a resume worthy of Harrison Ford. The Da Vinci Code and X3 appear likely to become his fifth and sixth $200 million films. Gandalf is living large these days.

Next weekend, X-Men: The Last Stand will be the sole new opener over what has traditionally been a very lucrative Memorial Day holiday. We're looking at consecutive weekends over $70 million, a feat that is none too easy in this day of tricky box office trending and consumers who are willing to wait for DVD.

yea im postive x3 should beat that next wkend. im going with my brother and my 3 nephews, including me. thats 4 tickets. peace.
 
I saw DVC and it wasn't as bad as the critics said it would be! So it really doesn't matter what the critics think about X3 b/c they're in their own little world!lol

Yeah less then expected but just barely. Most thought it would come in with 80 to 85 million. So it just missed the mark. Let's not try to spin this into some sort of failure now. And yeah X3 has a very good chance of beating it. It's a very hyped up film, and its a sequel to a very successful and much enjoyed franchise. I won't be suprised to see it hit close to $90 million over the 4 days.
 
I think DVC will make more internatonally.
 
Despite critsm the movie has become an instant hit which is what i expected.77 Million is a fantastic debut.

I think the bad reviews were a double edged sword...... it made people wonder why it was supposed to be so bad............. I saw it saturday, it was actually pretty good.........

my GF wanted to see it really bad, so what could I do...... it was a decent movie, it doesn't deserve all the bad reviews, it was filmed very well, I love the flashback scenes, and the supporting actors were great, specially Ian, I think he is the best actor out there right now.
