Xbox Xbox Series X|S Thread

I was playing Forza Horizon 4 on my One X and as amazing as that game looks I cannot imagine how INSANE Horizon 5 will look on the Series X *drools*
Graphics on Forza have been great for many years now. They will probably use the next Forza to showcase that again on Series X. A really good racing game series.

yeah I have all 4 of them even part 1 looks good being a 360 game and I play it on the One X

Imagine how good it will look by the end of this coming gen once they’ve really got to grips with the new technology!

yeah I started backwards and played 4 first and I was blown away right from the opening how seamlessly it transferred from game movie to game play and how REAL the cars looked with the realistic lighting and things like WORKING mirrors where you can see the cars behind etc and the sounds etc. I have not even seen a trailer for FH5 but I already know it is a must buy LOL!

I started with Forza 3 and then went back to the earlier games. Really love this series. It was definitely a step up in racing games for me.

Yeah I dabbed in FH3 I was bummed that I can only have my 58 plymouth aka christine in FH3 and not 4 cause it was only given out when you did a fall challenge back when the game came out.

is there been any more info on what the price is gonna be and if they are doing any preorders for it?

nothing official yet.

but both the Series X and PS5 official websites have been "updated" recently, suggesting both companies are perhaps gearing up to release new info.

we know Xbox is doing a "service/platform" event in June, so it's possible that is when they will reveal the price and preorder.

also, it's now been heavily rumored that Sony will be doing a PS5 even next week, around June 3.

so, we could be getting more info soon.

Yeah, massive month coming up! Can’t wait.

I started with regular Forza 3 rather than Horizon 3. I’ve still got a bit of catching up to do with the Horizon games.

yep! it's time for both companies to go big and put all their cards on the table.
Hopefully they both have amazing presentations so that the future of gaming can really start moving on. This would be good news for my pc going forward too.

I want it to be July already to see that gameplay. They better go all out and bring out the goods for each new game

agreed. they both need to sell us consumers on the FUTURE of gaming. So far, neither has really done so. though, the Series X reveal and the UE 5 tech demo both got me excited. But I still don't know why I actually need to go out and get a PS5 or Series X this Holiday at launch.

Nice!! was just about to post this. and here's the related IGN article.

Xbox Series X To Launch With 'Thousands' of Games - IGN

I like how they clarified in the IGN article that their intent is to get every game that's playable on the X1 playable on Series X, barring licensing and tech issues.

I'm also impressed at all the enhancements the BC titles will get on the Series X, running natively on the Series X hardware and not in some kind of "boost mode." Especially the part about "adding HDR" to older games.

This is one area where Xbox definitely has a leg up on Playstation, not just in terms of the messaging but also in the sheer volume and breadth of the BC library of games.

I'm really curious about the gamepass titles during launch. Not just series x games but what original, 360 and xone games will be on the service by that time

Yeah, this whole side of it makes the console worth the money for me even if there were no next gen games. A bit like getting a new pc. Obviously the next generation of games over the next 7 or so years is a massive bonus!

yep.

It also makes the transition to next gen smoother and more seamless, especially at (and shortly after) launch when the new game offerings may not be that robust or less than ideal.

I remember at PS4 launch, I bought some titles like Killzone and AC Black Flag, not because I was particularly interested in those games, but because I felt I needed to buy something to play on the new system. If the PS4 had been BC with PS3 games, I could have just sold my PS3, but keep my PS3 library to play (enhanced) on the new system. And then I would have felt less forced to buy launch PS4 titles I didn't really want to buy.

I always felt I got into the PS4/X1 gen too early, and that I should have waited another year, because that's when more games I was actually interested in starting coming out. That first year (and the first few months especially), I didn't really feel like I got much out of my PS4. And the X1 wasn't really an option for me at launch, because it was $100 more expensive and came force bundled with that stupid Kinect camera.

I also remember how on my 360, I could play certain OG Xbox games like KOTOR, and on my PS3, I could play PS1 games (too bad PS2 BC was removed). It was certainly a nice feature to have on those consoles.

so, it's a good thing that both new consoles this gen will have BC at launch, and MS has the leg up in this area. If the PS5 really is BC with only a handful of top PS4 games at launch, while Series X launches with BC with practically every game playable on X1, then that could be a factor to make me switch to Series X instead of PS5.

hopefully Sony will shed more light on their BC approach in the coming months, starting next Thursday.

BC isn't necessarily a must-have feature for me, but it's certainly a nice-to-have feature. and the more robust it is, the better. Plus, it's always fun going to the used game stores and hunting down those retro game finds. It just would be nice to be able to play those retro games on the current gen console!

It’s one of the most important factors as I love continuity between generations and continuous progress. One reason why I love achievements on your gaming profile carrying across from 360 to X1 and now to XSX. You could play a game from 2026 and then play one from 2006 and they will both appear in and count towards the same list. I like viewing gaming as a leisure career and full BC For their entire back catalogue by all the big guns from here on out would be my dream.

I made a new account when I went from 360 to XBO. Kinda regretted it at times but I like the clean slate and new username. Might do the same for series x

but then, wouldn't you lose access to all your digital games, DLC, achievements, etc.? all of that is tied to your account, isn't it?

yes. and it's always nice, when possible, to get an entire gaming series on one console, even though the series spans multiple console generations.
