Xbox Xbox Series X|S Thread

^ well, I had never heard of either until now.

I am beyond baffled that Microsoft felt that this was a good idea. Sort of left it wide open for Sony to blow off the doors.

Bright Memory is on Steam and it's pretty much a tech demo for Infinite. Made by one person too...

Scorn was revealed few years ago in a Kickstarter campaign.

They both look interesting, but don't have that next gen leap just yet.

the titles in the 1st couple of years in a new console cycle probably won't show off that much of a generational leap, since most will likely still have to cater to the prior gen consoles as well. especially 3rd party titles.

1st party titles are where we should see bigger leaps early on. which is why the July event is going to be crucial. MS HAS to knock that event out of the park and blow everyone away.

I don't quite get the hate today's event seems to be getting. It wasn't THAT bad - I've certainly watched worse events. And it added 4 or 5 titles to my radar that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. The event just didn't offer anything super mind-blowing.

The July event HAS to be mind-blowing, though. It HAS to be the E3 equivalent event in terms of hype and delivering on that hype. If the July event garners the same kind of reaction that this event did, then that would be a serious miss on MS' part.

Sony hasn't exactly been blowing off doors either. They have to actually show stuff. They've remained quiet for too long now.

I'm half-surprised they didn't stealth announce something today to try to steal MS' thunder. But I think it's way past due for them to show the actual console and to show their own games.

Sony should announce the date for the PS5 reveal, be it this month or next, to get people anticipating that date. And then we'll see if they can blow off the doors with their presentation. Continuing to remain silent is not going to do that, though. It's time for Sony to make their move.

They have two months before Xbox shows off their first party. A window big enough for Sony to swoop in

regardless, MS can't afford to play it safe at their July event.

If Sony swoops in and reveals the console AND 1st party titles in May or June, then MS has to answer back with a strong event in July.

Or, if Sony waits till after the July MS event to show their stuff, then MS still needs to hit a home run in July to shield/blunt against whatever Sony shows afterwards.

So there is some confusion as to which 3rd party games shown at yesterday's Inside Xbox are coming to PS4/PS5 as well. Playstation Lifestyle did a helpful breakdown.

Which Inside Xbox Next-Gen Reveal Games are Coming to PS5?

Looks like some games may be not only Xbox exclusives (at least timed) but next-gen exclusives as well. To summarize:

Bright Memory:
PS5 - Not confirmed(but likely?)
Crossgen - Yes

Dirt 5:
PS5 - Yes
Crossgen - Yes

Scorn:
PS5 - No
Crossgen - No

Chorus:
PS5 - Yes
Crossgen - Yes

Madden 21:
PS5 - Yes
Crossgen - Yes

Vampire Masquerade:
PS5 - Not confirmed(but likely)
Crossgen - Yes

Call of the Sea:
PS5 - Not confirmed
Crossgen - Yes

Ascent:
PS5 - No
Crossgen - No

Medium:
PS5 - Not confirmed
Crossgen - No

Scarlet Nexus:
PS5 - Yes
Crossgen - Yes

Second Extinction:
PS5 - Not confirmed(no, for now)
Crossgen - Yes

Yakuza Like a Dragon:
PS5 - Not confirmed(but likely)
Crossgen - Yes

AC Valhalla:
PS5 - Yes
Crossgen - Yes

I'm surprised MS didn't highlight some of those games being Xbox exclusives, either outright or timed. Kind of a missed opp if you as me.

Also, I'm surprised that Bandai Namco anime game, Scarlet Nexus, isn't outright confirmed for PS5. But Xbox needs more exclusive JDev games, even if just timed. I've been wanting a melee hack-n-slash with psychic powers game for a long time, so Scarlet is right up my alley. If it is indeed an Xbox exclusive (timed or outright), it could be one of the games to sway me to the Series X.

Edit: Bandai Namco has confirmed Scarlet Nexus is coming to PS4 and PS5, so I've edited the list accordingly.

I have to say, most of what I saw was not very exciting. Scorn has been in development for years with a gameplay trailer for Xbox One released in 2017. That being said, unless Sony really showcases their first-party support, I think I’ll be buying a Series X in the next couple of years.

12 minutes of Ascent gameplay

Hopefully other games, like Chorus, Scorn, and Medium, get gameplay videos like this. And AC Valhalla.

Though, more footage like this should have been shown during the Inside Xbox event (albeit not as long).

The Ascent should be a decent ARPG. I love the cyberpunk setting so I'm looking forward to playing it on PC.

I thought this was going to just be 3rd party non-exclusive games only. It’s a bit strange they didn’t make this clearer.

yeah, I assumed all these games would be coming to PS5 as well. but when you start reading about some games being Xbox exclusives, from outside sources, it is strange that Xbox didn't make a big deal about that.

I've said it here and in other threads, 3rd party exclusives are just as important as 1st party ones. Quite a few of the exclusive Playstation games that I like are in fact 3rd party. And, I dare say, I'm more interested in the 3rd party exclusives than the games from Sony's 1st party studios.

So, if Xbox has any 3rd party exclusives, they need to promote that, too!

Yeah it looks interesting. I might try it on pc too.

After the July show they should have a list of everything so that it's clear for everyone.

We'll probably have to rely on a 3rd party outside source, like IGN, to list and organize which games are exclusives, cross gen, etc.

I don't think the Xbox site would list whether a game is also on PS, and vice versa for Sony.

Yeah, I hope one of those sites gives us a clear list when the conferences are done so we can see what's what.

You guys heard the name Michael Pachter right? Notoriously known to be unreliable although he has had some correct predictions in recent memory. He was on a podcast with a couple of other guys discussing how mS is gonna undercut Sony with pricing. So if Ps5 comes out at $500, Series X could do $400 and while mS would be taking a loss with that, they have pockets deep enough to do so and it would attract a lot of customers.

Starting to sound like Stadia PR. They were saying all games will be 4k 60fps. Then changed their tune to.. it's up to the developers to decide how their game performs.

MS .. promoted the best case scenario to the point of making it seem it would be the norm... 4k 120 fps. .. to .. it is up to the developers and we now see 4k at least 30fps. Fairly different than from what they were pushing a month ago.

I don’t think it was meant to be both 4K and 120 FPS at the same time as that is a ridiculous jump from the console trajectory. But up to 4K resolution and up to 120 FPS while sacrificing ok one to achieve the other makes sense.

I was playing Forza Horizon 4 on my One X and as amazing as that game looks I cannot imagine how INSANE Horizon 5 will look on the Series X *drools*
