Xenoblade Chronicles X

Xenoblade Chronicles X Introduces A Couple More Members Of BLADE. January 29, 2015 . 1:40am

Nagi is the former captain of the White Whale. Meanwhile, Guin is a member of the Doll Squad.

We’ve already been introduced to the sharp-tongued commander of BLADE, and this time, the official website updates us with a couple more new characters, including one that has a thing for Irina.

Guin:

A member of the private military organization, BLADE. Back on Earth, he worked as a subordinate of Elma and Irina as part of the government spec-ops vehicular instructor corps known as the Doll Squad.

He occasionally messes up here and there, but he’s an honest character who admires Irina and also has a bit of a crush on her.

Nagi:

Nagi is the former captain of the White Whale, an interstellar immigrant ship. He currently serves as the military director of the autonomous government of NLA (New Los Angeles).

In order to protect the livelihood of those living on Planet Mira, he works himself to death on a daily basis with government affairs.

You can read more about the organization BLADE and some of the roles its eight different faction called Unions have, in our earlier report.

Yes, Xenoblade Chronicles X Will Have An Off-TV Play Option. January 29, 2015 . 9:00am

Off-TV Play via the Wii U GamePad would be nice to have for Xenoblade Chronicles X, and luckily, the feature has finally been confirmed.

With Xenoblade Chronicles X’s Planet Mira being five times larger than the world of Xenoblade Chronicles, Off-TV Play via the Wii U GamePad would be nice to have, and luckily, this week’s issue of Famitsu confirms that the feature will be supported.

In our previous report, there were details about how you’ll be able to use the Wii U GamePad as an information terminal while exploring Planet Mira. As you explore, you accumulate data about the world, which can be viewed on the GamePad, You also use the GamePad to teleport to areas you’ve previously visited. A feature with Tetsuya Takahashi in Famitsu mentions that, even though the GamePad has a bunch of support features, you can also use it for Off-TV play.

Meanwhile, the Xenoblade Twitter shares a few other bits of info. Xenoblade Chronicles X’s key developers have been sharing plenty of information on Twitter lately, and they recently spoke about how they barely managed to fit the entire game onto a single Wii U disc—which can hold 25GB of data—with some difficulty.

Shingo Kawabata, producer of Xenoblade Chronicles X, took to the game’s official Twitter account and tweeted, “Xenoblade Chronicles X almost uses up an entire Wii U disc’s capacity to its limits. Really, it barely fits in (it got to the point where we were concerned that one disc wouldn’t be enough).”

Kawabata continued, “You’ll be able to play comfortably while [the console] continuously loads the vast and seamless map (Monolith’s programmers worked hard on making this possible), but Nintendo assisted us by implementing a mechanism that improves it even further.”

“I believe we’ll announce more details on the official website [in the future], but on behalf of the developers, I’d like to recommend those of you that plan on purchasing the retail version of the game make use of this feature.”

Judging by Kawabata’s tweets, it sounds like Nintendo could have worked out some sort of data install option that will allow the game to more efficiently stream its gigantic maps without the need for loading.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release in North America and Europe later this year, and April 29, 2015 in Japan for Wii U.

Unlike Xenoblade, Xenoblade Chronicles X Will Track Your Playtime Beyond 100 Hours. February 2, 2015 . 8:29am

Xenoblade Chronicles X director Koh Kojima follows up on a comment made by executive director Tetsuya Takahashi.

Xenoblade Chronicles X director Koh Kojima took to Twitter earlier today to follow up on a comment made by executive director Tetsuya Takahashi in Famitsu magazine.

“As always, thank you to the users for their support. I’m Xenoblade Chronicles X’s director, Kojima,” he wrote. “The embargo on a lot of information pertaining to the game has been lifted, so I will be talking about it here.”

“First of all, as a greeting, I’ll talk about the game’s playtime display. There was talk about how, now matter how long you played, Xenoblade Chronicles would be completed in 99 hours and 59 minutes. And so, we’ve changed that this time around.”

Here, Kojima is referring to a bug of sorts in the original Xenoblade Chronicles, where the Japanese version of the game wouldn’t keep track of your playtime beyond 99 hours and 59 minutes. It appears Monolith have made sure to avoid this issue in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

“In the Famitsu interview a few days ago, Takahashi mentioned the time of ‘300 hours’ and of course the playtime will be properly displayed [this time around],” Kojima continued. “Of course, we’ve made it so there will be no problems even if you play beyond that amount of time.”

We’ll learn much more about Xenoblade Chronicles X this week. Nintendo will be streaming a presentation on the game this Friday in Japan, and we’ll be covering the event as it happens.

Nintendo detailed the world of Xenoblade Chronicles X during a 24 minute-long Japanese live stream this morning.
The game is set on Mira, an uncivilized planet on which players crash land. Mira is made up of five continents: “Primal Wilderness,” “Luminous Forest,” “Forgotten Canyon,” “White Tree Continent,” and “Black Steel Continent.” On this planet, the city of New Los Angeles is established. It consists of industrial, commercial, residential, and military areas.
In the video, you’ll get a look at the game’s basic systems and exploration, including the “Navigation Ball,” which guides players to their next destination, and the “Hopper Camera,” which lets you see your surroundings from an aerial perspective. Players will be able to freely travel across land, air, and sea, walking to places accessible on foot, or using the Doll mecha to access areas otherwise inaccessible.
Towards the end of the live stream, Nintendo announced a Wii U bundle including a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X, an original design 1,000 yen Nintendo pre-paid card, a map of the game, and an art book will be released alongside the game in Japan on April 29 for 35,000 yen.

Take A Tour Of New Los Angeles, Your Home In Xenoblade Chronicles X. February 6, 2015 . 6:04am

Monolith Soft and Nintendo showed off the latest gameplay footage of Xenoblade Chronicles X today, starting with a look at New Los Angeles.
Monolith Soft and Nintendo showed off the latest gameplay footage of Xenoblade Chronicles X today, focusing on the look of the game’s world. At the start of the live stream, they showed off some of the key areas in New Los Angeles, often abbreviated within the game as NLA.

Not much is known about Xenoblade Chronicles X’s planet Mira, so NLA is basically the only safe haven that allows mankind to sit back and relax as they continue living their everyday lives.

2_thumb.jpg

Near the entrance is the industrial area of NLA, where BLADE create the latest tech and mech-like weapons, Dolls, which are piloted by humans. The area is also used for making food for its citizens, and is basically filled with different factories used to help the lives of NLA citizens.

The commercial area has everything from various shops, cafes, and restaurants. It was made as a district that allows the citizens of NLA to sit back and relax, and it kind of brings back feelings from the way things were back on Earth.

Last edited:

The residential area is where the NLA citizens have their homes. Similar to the commerce area, it looks quite similar to places on Earth, which gives a more homely feeling, where the citizens can all feel safe and at-home.

Finally, the BLADE area is the heart of NLA, and it’s the center of the private military organization that is known as BLADE. This is where members gather, give and accept quests, and so on.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release in Japan on April 29, 2015 for the Wii U.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Info On Exploring, Questing, And Bonding With Citizens. February 6, 2015 . 6:32am

The vast world of Xenoblade Chronicles X has plenty to explore, but you’ll also be required to help the citizens of New Los Angeles as a member of BLADE.

The vast world of Xenoblade Chronicles X has plenty to explore, but you’ll also be required to help the citizens of New Los Angeles as a member of BLADE. Monolith Soft and Nintendo shared a look at more on your duties as part of the private military organization during their live stream today.

Your role as a member of BLADE is to find “Life” on Planet Mira, as there are still some cryogenically-frozen humans sleeping in pods that got scattered across the planet when the ship from Earth crash-landed onto the planet’s surface.

You’ll find these pods as “Life Points” throughout Mira. Since the humans inside them are frozen-asleep, it’ll be up to you to find them, then bring them back to safety in NLA.

The next important role as a member of BLADE, is to help in the exploration of Mira. Since we don’t know too much about the planet, it’s crucial to learn more for the safety of mankind and to further help finding Life Points.

The Frontier Net exploration system will help you do just that. You’ll access it using the Wii U GamePad, and it’ll have plenty of information about the land and your current location. The hexagonal parts represent different areas, and they’re known as “Segments”.

more on this

As you explore Mira, you’ll find various places that omit lights as signals. These are known as “Frontier Net Spots” and it’s where you’ll go to collect data of the land by using the “Data Probe” machine.

After probing the data from the land, it will show up as information on the Segment parts of the Frontier Net. The symbols on the Segments indicate mission objectives, such as defeating monsters, and finding treasure.

The more areas you discover with Data Probe, you’ll have more objectives to do through quests. Finding more areas will also change and affect what the citizens of NLA are talking about.

Data Probes do more than just provide information to your Frontier Net, as they can also be customized to perform various functions. For example, turning it into a Mining Probe will increase the resource output you get from them. There are also Probe customizations that can increase your power in battle when you’re around one.

In addition to all the exploring you’ll do as a member of BLADE, your other role will be to help the citizens of NLA. They’ll provide you with various quests simply by talking to them, while the main quests can be acquired through talking to key characters of BLADE..

There’s also a quest board at the headquarters, used to look at all the different quests available. Upon clearing them, you’ll be rewarded with items, money, and experience points.

By talking to citizens and helping them out with quests, you’ll increase bonds with them as part of a bonding system. Deepening your bond with citizens will further increase your chances of creating new ones with different people, which you can see in the above image on what appears to be a relationship chart.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Has Online Multiplayer For Up To 4 Players. February 6, 2015 . 6:55am

Xenoblade Chronicles X is up for pre-downloading in Japan, and the game’s store page confirms that it will support online multiplayer for up to four players.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is up for pre-downloading in Japan, and the game’s store page confirms that it will support online multiplayer for up to four players. (Thanks, Hachima Kiko)

Monolith Soft have made it so up to four players will be able to undertake quests together; however, they’ve also added a feature whereby up to 32 players will be able to exchange information and trade items with one another.

In a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, Xenoblade Chronicles X executive director stated that the game would allow for a more loose online connection between players, and this raised the question of whether online multiplayer would still be included in the game. Luckily, it looks like it will be.

The download version of Xenoblade Chronicles X in Japan takes up 22.7GB of hard disk space. Previously, Monolith Soft said over Twitter that they recommend buying the digital version of the game as Xenoblade Chronicles X has a seamless world with no loading screens in between areas and streaming the game’s data would be smoother off a hard disk.

However, the retail version of the game will feature some sort of mechanism that allows the game’s maps to load seamlessly as well. At the moment, this is presumed to be some sort of data install feature, although how exactly it will work remains to be seen.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released on April 29th in Japan and later this year in North America and Europe.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Shares A Look At Its Vast Continents. February 6, 2015 . 8:16am

Nintendo and Monolith Soft shared a look at all the different parts of planet Mira in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

While we still don’t know too much about Xenoblade Chronicles X’s Planet Mira, the one thing we can say for sure is that it’s huge. Nintendo and Monolith Soft shared a look at all the different parts of the planet, during their latest live stream for the game.

Mira is made of various continents that range from mountains regions to icy or volcanic areas. Here’s a look at some of the main areas you’ll explore, while looking for Life and monsters to hunt down in Xenoblade Chronicles X:

Starting Field:

The starting field where New Los Angeles is located. It has plenty of hills and vast fields.

second to last

Forest of Nightglow:

This continent is filled with all kinds of different plants, including glowing ones, along with various other creatures.

Valley of Oblivion:

The Valley of Oblivion is mostly a desert region that has some oasis-like spots and large creatures roaming around.

3rd

Continent of the White Trees:

A continent that looks straight out of some sort of myth and nothing like what was on Earth.

Continent of Black Steel:

The entire continent is one large volcanic region, but there appear to be some man-made structures like the bridge the characters are shown running on.

The continents are all much larger than what’s shown in the images, as they all have various other regions with them. As you explore different areas, the game will notify you whenever you run into one, along with its different landmarks.

Since that’s an awful a lot of land to explore, there are various features that will help make travel a little easier. Characters can dash and jump around, and even teleport using the Data Probe Segments on the GamePad.

For those of you without the best sense of direction, the glowing Navigation Ball can be used to help lead to your objective area.

The Hopper Camera is another device that will help you not get lost, as it launches a camera high into the sky, allowing you to get a better look at your surroundings.

In the end, it looks like the Dolls will be the best way to travel around. Once you acquire a Doll, it’ll increase your travel speed and also help you reach areas that you previously couldn’t get to; however, you won’t get one right away, as only BLADE members with proper licenses can acquire them.

And done

From small to large, calm to violent, Mira is home to all kinds of different creatures. While you can simply avoid stronger monsters, there are also special monsters with different names mixed in with others. While these special monsters may look the same, they’re extra tough, so you’ll need to be careful out there.

In addition to having other characters that look like Tatsu, in the Nopon race, Mira has various other races. The blue-haired character is from the Lu-Sylphe race is named Luu. he’s a bit strange, but he’s actually a good guy that likes to sell his artwork.

Earthlings aren’t the only aliens to Planet Mira, as there’s also the friendly Manon race. These guys have exceptional knowledge when it comes to technology. Then there’s the Vaias race. These guys are nowhere near as friendly as the Manon, and they’re a hostile race that are out to get rid of all the humans.

Off-TV Play In Xenoblade Chronicles X Was Requested Mainly By Western Fans. February 9, 2015 . 9:32am

At first, Kojima says, he was uncertain whether or not the Off-TV Play feature would work as intended.

Last week, Monolith Soft and Nintendo streamed a presentation containing information on Xenoblade Chronicles X, their upcoming Wii U RPG. During the presentation, Monolith shared a look at various aspects of the game, including:

During the exploration segment, Monolith showed off how the game will utilize the Wii U GamePad by displaying area information and certain convenient applications on the screen. In addition to this, as we’ve reported in the past, the game also supports Off-TV Play via the GamePad, and director Koh Kojima touched upon this on Twitter.

In a series of tweets made today, Kojima stated that Off-TV Play is a feature that was requested mainly by Western fans, which is interesting to know.

At first, Kojima says, he was uncertain whether or not the Off-TV Play feature would work as intended, just due to the sheer amount of information displayed on the screen during battles, but ultimately it turned out okay so the feature was implemented.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Shows Off Its Wide Range Of Character Customization. February 12, 2015 . 5:01am

Once you start a new game in Xenoblade Chronicles X, you’ll be prompted to make your own avatar, and there’s a lot to choose from.

Xenoblade Chronicles X has quite an in-depth avatar maker, where players will get to make characters ranging from fun and animated to realistic and serious. The official website had been updated with a new video that shows us more on making characters.
[YT]1WxvPIzZ5ok[/YT]

Once you start a new game in Xenoblade Chronicles X, you’ll be prompted to make your own avatar. The immediate choices you have are gender, face types, body size (female character also get bust size) and more.

Going a little deeper into the system, you can customize skin with its color tone, freckles, cheeks for the face, scars, and moles. Hairstyle, hair color, eye form and colors can all be customized as well. As for makeup, there are options for eye shadow color, lip color, and face paint.

Voice selection includes the type of voices like a military-type or a “bro” type, or maybe a “tsundere” voice or princess voice. Each of these voices are marked with their respective Japanese voice actors as well. You can check out samples, here.

Additionally, some of the Monolith Soft staff members shared a look at their own characters, so you can get an idea of the different types of characters that can be made:

Here’s What Xenoblade Chronicles X’s New Los Angeles Looks Like At Night. February 12, 2015 . 1:03pm

The game’s official website shares another look at the city, and what it looks like at night.

Citizens of NLA (New Los Angeles) in Xenoblade Chronicles X are living on a different planet, but their home emulates the look of the one back on planet Earth before it was destroyed. The official website shares another look at the city, and what it looks like at night.
[YT]X33U4hgs7Sc[/YT]
In this video, we have Elma and Lynlee flying in an aircraft above NLA to give us a little tour of all of its areas. It starts out around the industrial area, where they test aircrafts, grow food, make weapons, and develop the mech-like weapons known as Dolls. This place has an exit to the west, so you’ll be passing by frequently.

Next, at the 1:00 mark, we see a little bit of the commercial area. As the name implies, the place is has all kinds of shops, cafes, restaurants, and apparel shops. All kinds of people gather here, and it’s one of the more lively places of NLA.

The residential area is where the NLA citizens have their homes. It has a homely feeling similar to what they had back on Earth, including a church and a large park. Elma says it’s a nice area to go to when you want a quiet place to read a book, or if you have some thoughts you need to sort out.

Finally, the BLADE area is considered the heart of NLA. This area is split into the upper and lower area. The upper area has the BLADE homes, where the organization’s members all have a place to sleep. The bottom area has space that’s used to upgrade and repair Dolls. This is also where BLADE members gather, give and accept quests.

Here’s a look at some screenshots that show the various continents of Planet Mira.

The official Xenoblade chronicles X website updated with voice samples today, the problem being, they are in Japanese. Well gameFAQS user Gessenkou, whom is well known in the community for his translation for this game, has roughly translated the voices. You can check out the voice samples here on the official website.
The samples seem to be the same kind of party banter that the first Xenoblade had, confirming that your customized character will have a voice, at least in battle. Interestingly enough, the actors that played Shulk, Reyn, and Melia in the Japanese dub, seem to have returned to offer their voices. Might this be an indicator that when the game is dubbed in English, Monolith Soft might bring in veteran Xenoblade English voice actors?
PLEASE NOTE: These are rough translations provided by a fan.

Hungry for more Xenoblade Chronicles X news? Well, another fan has taken it upon themselves to translate another piece of information about the game.

This trailer details some more about New Los Angeles, such as the various districts and the quest system. It seems that unlike the original Xenoblade Chronicles, which required you to seek out quests from people in towns (and could be very cumbersome given all the different people and schedules involved), in Xenoblade Chronicles X, you’ll accept quests from a main hub, which should make the process much easier. And since quests were the simplest method of level grinding, this new system should make the whole process much faster. We also get a few translated details about the character creation process.
What do you think of the new quest system? Let us know in the comments.
