Do you really need another one? The existing movie is pretty mediocre in retrospect.

The X-Files TV show ran for a decade, I think that's more than enough. The show ran out of creative juice long before the end.

Better to remember Mulder and Scully as icons of the 90's rather than has-beens in the 00's.

the way the show ended they need at least 1 more movie to tie up all the loose ends and explain what the f**k was going on

There is still talk of a movie but it would be a stand alone. So no clearing up loose ends. Well maybe a couple.

I started to hate this serial after 2nd season :down

Oh no, that when it really started to get good. It went downhill the year before Mulder left show.

i agree the movie was mediocre (i cant remember a single scene)

but they can do it WAAAAAY better now.

just dont have rob bowman to direct it again

Running away from bees.....running away from huge collapsing hole in the arctic....running away from helicopters in a field.....running away from an exploding building.....

I always thought the movie was great, and would have ended the series beautifully. Scully believes, the X-Files are reopened, and the bad guys are still out there.

LOL!!...the bees were funny.
hell id run too!

but like i saidkeep rob bowman away:down

I thought it was confirmed that there would be a sequel. I remember hearing Anderson and Duchovny said they would do it.

Unfortunately FOX decided to milk The X Files for all it was worth, hence there were seasons that need not have been. Supposedly the movie was supposed to be a lead way into Season 5 but whether they half a$$ed it or that was the best they could come up with, I don't know.

thats was back then.... im sure with todays technology and stuff they could make some sweet ****.

xfiles has had prob the best alien story there is...... all others are cheap imitations

I actually really liked the movie  of course I never saw the show :(

Duchovny Says 'X-Files 2' Negotiations Almost Complete

Hey, remember back in the day when there was this TV show called The X-Files? And, based on the success of the show, they made a movie? It's okay if you don't remember, the film came out -- I dunno -- nine freaking years ago! Since then there's been talk of a sequel ... and more talk of a sequel ... and even more talk of a sequel. Heck, two years ago David Duchovny actually said that an X-Files 2 was taking shape and would go into production sometime in 2006. Yeah, that never happened. However, while out promoting his latest film, The TV Set, Duchovny noted that negotiations were just about wrapped up, and he feels production will now start sometime in 2008, or sooner. Then again, he's said this before ... so, X-Files fans, don't go holding your breath.

One thing Duchovny did note back in 2005 was that the sequel will not pick up where the last film left off, or involve some sort of alien conspiracy. Instead, it will be a regular old supernatural horror film. No word on what that means for Agent Mulder (will he be hunting down ghosts on MySpace alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar), but ditching the whole "alien aspect" might not sit well with those die hard fans. If it is true that negotiations are wrapping up this week, there's a good chance the trades will pick it up within the next few days. If so, hopefully they will shed a bit more light on the project. What do you think? Is it too late for an X-Files sequel, or are you still down for one more round with Mulder ... regardless of whether he's chasing aliens or chasing tail?

The movie came after season 6 or 7, not before 5. It was a good movie for the 90s. Not great, but good. Especially if you were into the X-Files.

I remembe seeing Dachovny on Leno last november/december maybe, and he said he was on board and all for the sequel as he always says on there.

But last week it was announced that DD is going to be in a new Showtime series starting this summer. :(

they were gbonna do a movie set in 2012 where the aliens invade and supposedly take over the world again....

It's never too late for sci-fi movies. The original Star Trek franchise proved that.

But if a sequel does emerge, Gillian Anderson has to come back! The X-Files isn't The X-Files unless you have both Mulder and Scully. No sense in making a movie without either one of them.
