With members of the Xmen and FF having a prominent role with the Inhumans, I was wondering how likely do you think that Marvel might pull a retcon and make mutants and the FF Inhumans? How crazy would it be if the "cosmic rays" that gave the FF their powers was some form of Terrigen?

If this was the route Marvel was going, I would personally be ok with it. I like the idea that the Xmen and FF just being different teams made up of Inhumans. I like the notion of there being a streamlined reason for a lot of superpowered individuals in the MCU. Now Im not saying every superpowered person in the MCU should be an Inhuman, but to me it makes sense to me that if you want to create a "race" of individuals that have the potential to get superpowers that they would all belong to the same race.

I'd be personally opposed to it. To me, the outsider perspective of the characters would work far more effectively (it's not like the Fantastic Four and Inhumans haven't worked together before). I also think it dilutes the Inhumans (although NuHumans arguably do the same, the idea that they're coming into the fold of a alien monarch government creates story potential). But making characters who will always remain independent into Inhumans weakens the strength of the royal family and Inhuman community and makes it into a different story entirely.

Part of the fun of superhero universes is the myriad of origins and types of superhumans out there. "Streamlining" it is boring.

I dunno, all this stuff is reminding me a lot of 'the government created mutants' thing from the Ultimate comics. Just replace government with Inhumans.

I understand what you mean. Idk to me, streamlining to me just makes it seem like a more "cohesive" universe

Seriously... Super Hero universes (i.e. Marvel and DC) need to be gestalt in nature. What the ding-dong hell is up with "streamlining" stuff? It limits everything in my opinion. The cool thing about the Marvel and DC verses is that EVERYTHING is possible. An immortal ancient warrior with magically empowered weapons like an ax or a sword can fight side by side with a human alien hybrid and the hybrid can meet a cyborg created with advanced super science and the cyborg can battle a vampire, and the vampire can be the enemy of a swashbuckling pulp styled hero...

But what are we seeing more and more, and what is the attitude among fans?

(adjusting nerd glasses) "There must be total logical consistency to this fantasy world of overly muscled men and beyond perfect voluptuous yet athletic women that battle in form fitting, highly colorful outfits." This is getting into the shows as well and IT'S LIMITING. And not needed. On the CW FLASH show they are linking everything so far to the particle accelerator which is going to limit them in the future... Until such time as they decide to just start having super humans show up WITHOUT a link to the particle accelerator. I mean...it's inevitable... Remember SMALLVILLE's stupid linking of everything to the Kryptonite meteors... Until they just up and decided to forgo that explanation? Yeah... That's EXACTLY what's going to happen on FLASH, in which case that limitation is going to be silly, as a world where super powers are possible is inherently about NOT having limitations... JESUS!

Same here. Let the comics be the comics and the films be the films and don't let the momentary circumstances dictate how a DECADES long fictional universe has been going , okay?

i totally agree with others have said this "streamlining" crap is for the birds! I've enjoyed having mutants, Gods, Inhumans,Eternals and regular humans who get bit by a radioactive spider and experimental Super Solider serums. thats always been a highlight for me.Such as when beast as a mutant was an Avenger and the others were kinda like "uhhhh you know they are going to give us grief about this in the newspaper!" and Cap being "who gives a ^&*. he's a great guy!"Streamlining" this is all cause marvel cant use the the term "Mutant" anymore and are pissed off. and like Krypton said let the cinematic universe being its own entity and the comics its own! damn! why do you have to try and have this synergy between the two!

I don't think they're making those characters Inhumans, just realigning the Inhumans to be more prominent. And the two characters from other teams joining kind of make sense. Human Torch has been close to the Inhumans before, and Beast is a founding X-Man. The idea of helping persecuted/outcast metahumans has to resonate with him.

The Smallville approach (where every weird thing has the same origin until they don't) is actually a good way to start a new concept. It reinforces the core of the series, but eventually gives way to revealing that the original origin for the strangeness isn't alone in the world.

For a decades old series, it's just a step backwards.

They're not retconning any of them into Inhumans. The solicits mention that the Terrigen Mist is affecting mutants in weird ways so Beast likely joined them to help find a solution.

If they retcon the X-Men and FF origins etc, I'll be disgusted. "Streamlining" my ass.

I've always wondered about this ever since I first heard about inhumans especially when rumors about quicksilver and scarlet witch becoming inhumans first came out.

Personally I would rather them stick with one of the two since the similarities are very obvious ----- to me at least. if they ever choose to integrate them into the MCU, I would prefer them to stick with one species. This is coming of course from a none-comic book reader. Just my two cents.

EDIT: Talking about Mutants and Inhumans.

Ok we know what is happening with Johnny. But what of the rest of the FF? I thought I had heard Sue would be involved with an Avengers team.

Oddly just saw that last night. Got the Marvel previews magazine with my order. So looks like for me at this point Spidey, Hulk, Inhumans and Guardians for my collection going forward.
