I guess Cena now being a part timer has made people see him as a legend or something

I'd say people having more respect for Cena has more to do with people having to finally acknowledge the run he's been on. For the past 3+ years John Cena has been REALLY good, sure people were sick of seeing him, but when you look at his actual matches he's been damn good and not just delivered by exceeded expectations most of them.

I think people were so stuck on how bad Cena was back in 06 and 07 that they stuggled to acknowledge how much he's grown as a perfomer and been putting on some REALLY good matches.

Based on that Smackdown opening segment, I'd say after the No Mercy triple threat, AJ Styles should retain and go on to a new opponent, while John Cena and Dean Ambrose should transition into a feud with one another, maybe with Ambrose turning heel. That was pure venom dripping off the screen in their interactions with one another, projecting what convincingly felt like genuine dislike in a way you don't often get. Plus I can't recall them feuding before so it feels fresh.

Also, for AJ's next opponent, some might think the no-brainer choice would be Randy Orton. But I'm gonna go more left-field and suggest Bray Wyatt, complete with a face turn for Bray. It seems Wyatt is still well liked enough for people to feel frustrated at his direction, but he is essentially dead as a character in his current persona. He shows up by interfering in someone else's big match, claiming they are loved and because of that he will destroy them, does some evil promos... then loses against them. He'd still lose against Styles, but giving him a win over Orton leading up to that, and letting him change up his act a bit, might give him the fresh head of steam he needs.

Yeah, that would be a good idea imo.
I dont really think they need to turn Ambrose heel, he fits the tweener role perfect.
Having him feud with Cena over losing the triple threat at No Mercy...could start a feud.

I would love that...but i doubt it.
Before Bray was injured, they seemed to want to make him into a tweener.
He was teaming with Reigns etc...this was really awesome.
But then he returned and we got same old stuff.

It would be so awesome to have bray in the main event, giving him the title and have a long feud with AJ...but i doubt it will happen.
I fear that he will lose to Orton.

Yeah, thankfully people still care about him, i havent seen a single person who didnt care or was happy that he loses so many times.
Everywhere i see people being upset about it and saying how much potential they waste with his booking.
So there is a bit of hope left that the wwe sees this and gets their head out of their asses.

You can save Bray Wyatt very easy too imo.
Have him speaking about the fact that he is just all talk, then make him dissapear for 2-3 weeks.
Show a video of him being at the Wyatt compound, talking to sister abigail.
Have a segment where we hear her saying that she shows him the right way again...boom he is saved.
Then let him be quiet for a while, no words...just actions and wins.
Its easy to save Bray Wyatt, even in the state he is now.

Ambrose vs. Cena is a money feud that could carry itself on both performers wordplay.

My guess is Orton is Styles next feud after this. Either that or you bring in Samoa Joe (though part of me thinks RAW take him).

I kind of wish they would stop using the Austin Podcast in promos against Ambrose sinply because kayfabe/character wise it makes no sense. The critique Cena was using didn't make sense to me considering Ambrose had beat everyone he's faced since being champ, including Rollins solo and then both Rollins and Reigns, and Ziggler looked pathetic in their match. Heck like someone said on IMDB he only lost it when AJ cheated, and i don't see how tripping someone off a rope to defend yourself outside of a match (or even in one) is the same as someone directly kicking you in the jewels in a match, affecting the outcome. Cena delivers his words well but a lot of the time they make no sense. I'm glad Ambrose fired back, and kinda exposed Cena's hypocrisy with the part timer thing. I always found his commentary on that against The Rock annoying so it was nice to see it thrown in his face now.

Isn't Cena only back for a month? I figure they'll do the triple threat, Styles retains, Ambrose attacks Cena afterwards and he's off TV again until Rumble build up. I also think the reason they did this was to prolong the Ambrose/Styles program. So triple threat at No Mercy, Ambrose/Styles at Survivor Series. Styles should retain both times. Afterwards, Orton is the only real credible opponent left. Smackdown should bet he one to get both Joe & Nakamura when they come up cause they need them more.

There is no "hypocrisy" with Cena though. He was a full-timer for like 15 years (which is longer than Rock and Lesnar btw) and, whatever issues they had with booking him, busted his butt all that time and worked really hard. Also he would even come back from serious injuries quicker than many other men would. So now that he's nearly 40, and has been dealing with yet more injuries, he's starting to transition to part-time status (and he's still more consistently involved than Rock or Brock are even now).

If anything Ambrose comes across like a petulant fool who doesn't pay attention to the recent history of the company that he works for.

I like the Usos as heels. Now I can feel good about not liking them.
I think they need new music to match their new heel personas.
A lot of shoots going on tonight
Smackdown has been the shoot show since the draft.
Maybe this beating will knock some personality into Crews?
I'm not sure there are enough beatings in the world that could knock some personality into Crews. He seems like a nice guy. Maybe they should make being a smiley nice guy his gimmick.

Bray Wyatt the guy does great work but it's just totally undercut by the fact that he never wins. He's just all talk.

They destroyed his credibility as a legitimate threat by jobbing him to oblivion.

To be fair, Ambrose's only responded to Cena's remarks. Not sure how that makes him look like a "petulant fool".

I still think you could make Apollo Crews a great heel. Use his "still smiling" deal to his advantage i.e. he does some heelish stuff and turns to the crowd still smiling.

"And that's not a bad thing. That's a good thing!" :awesome:

Yeah I also heard that Cena is only back till No Mercy. Then he has to go off aain for the rest of the year.

One of the best things about NXT is that it gives both rosters a hidden depth to them, without necessarily having a lot of guys spinning their wheels on the main roster with nothing meaningful to do.

Cena will be gone for the rest of the year after No Mercy but so I guess he will be a Royal Rumble entrant

Apparently Paige is NOT done with WWE, and will return to work some events after her suspension ends in a few days.

I'd be she and all the RAW women wrestlers not named Charlotte, Bayley and Sasha want to be on Smackdown.

It's cool if she's still in wwe but I bet she will be jobbing and treated like crap on tv again for months

I can't imagine Nikki would remain a full-timer when Cena is away, so Becky will need someone to feud with.

I don't agree. I think there's too many people up high that want to salvage the relationship between her and the company...Triple H is one for sure. She won't be pushed to the moon on her return but they may placate her a little bit. She's been pretty quiet during this whole thing which is smart on her end.

y'know, one thing I like about AJ being champ is that he isn't the tallest guy on the roster. :)

when he was backstage with Daniel Bryan, they looked to be about the same size.

so, I'd say AJ is probably only around 5'9" or 5'10" irl?

I know AJ is one of the physically smallest champs we've had in a long time, but I almost don't even notice it because of how loud, brash and confident his character is.
