The tightly-wrought American sports energy film Youngblood looks at the ice-hockey life of an aspiring gifted player named Dean Youngblood (Rob Lowe) who must deal with a tense semi-pro team (Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves), a very brutish nemesis named Racki, and a girlfriend who happens to be the daughter of his coach! Dean has to return home for a while and seek courage-advice from his once aspiring older brother who teaches him to defend himself on the ice. This is a terrific sports-daydream film for anyone interested in the actual dynamics of achieved if offbeat American fantasies.

The movie posters are quite colorful and indicate the overall daydream-face of this sports imagination film, which offers many tidbits about human values and the will to keep your dreams realistic.

The cast is just perfect and includes some early work by future stars including Keanu Reeves. Rob Lowe does a great job as the protagonist Youngblood and deals with the test of losing his great mentor Patrick Swayze when Racki obliterates him during a game with a cheap revenge shot to the head. There's lots of team-and-coach drama in this gripping American culture film!

Dean has to grow up, learn to deal with responsibilities, adapt his love-life with his sports dreams, and learn to deal with the nemesis Racki while coordinating his on-ice play with his teammates and developing both his skill and his ability to fight.

In a climactic scene in with Dean must face Racki in a standing fight, Youngblood reveals why and how he got inspired training in his hometown barn with his older brother, and we get the true sense of this film's overall treatment of human valor and talent.

The substory of the coach and his daughter becoming Youngblood's girlfriend adds a nice touch to this human story about American pride and everyday dreams.

In fact, Dean's relationship brings him closer to a sensitivity required to harness his confidence with grace so that he may be an effective team-player and maybe a coach or pro-athlete someday! His girlfriend is a great inspiration in the end.

If you like movies about sports and/or ice-hockey consciousness, then this nicely mounted story-movie about the American imagination behind semi-pro ice-hockey fantasies will certainly entreat your indoor-life sensibilities about finding magic in everyday places and corners! It's a great recommendation say for Netflix folks who look for entertainment catering to a modern dogma aesthetic, which is why I chose to offer up this dioramic thread devoted to this under-rated American gem. Thanks for reading,
