Rogue One Your Favorite and Least Favorite Scenes and Moments (All the Spoilers)

CGI Leia. Looked like she makes regular use of botox. If anything, worst use of tech in entire saga. Tarkin was nice enough if it was cgi, that is.

something that I wondered after seeing it, how come Scariff had a shield around it with a gate, but the Death Star did not use the same technology? After they got the plans, why wouldn't the empire put one of those around the Death Star? I know it is what it is, but after using that technology prior they should have used it again. Probably would have saved the Death Star

Well, as the film showed, nothing could come in and out of the shield when closed, even transmissions. It would make it hard for the Death Star to fire its weapon if it was surrounded by that sort of shield. Also, if I recall correctly, A New Hope establishes that it has really good defences against capital ships and major assaults. The Empire was not aware of Erso's intentional design flaw and thought that small fighters posed no threat to the station.

you're right, forgot about the transmissions part. Id figure they could open the gate to fire, but that would be a pain. thanks for that explanation

Favorite
Vader's 'fish in a barrel' massacre.
Vader in the bacta tank
Vader and Krennic
Any scene with Tarkin.
The final space battle to get the shield down.
The death of Jyn.

Worst
CGI Leia
The cheap looking title card Rogue One

My favorites:

Vader, everything, his final scene of those rebel troopers standing there not knowing what was about to happen and you hear vaders breathing and then is light saber come on, I was going crazy when that happened, totally made him the bad a$$ I knew he was in the original trilogy.

Tarkin, I did not read much in the way of spoilers but a day before I read a non spoiler review and it talked about how much screen time Tarkin had and I was interested, and sure enough I was extremely impressed not only with the CGI of him but the over all performance, I did not nit pick it nor was I distracted by the CGI, there were times I really felt it was Peter Cushing, yes looking back it was not perfect but I loved it.

The final battle, Epic is all I will say, nothing wrong with it at all.

Least favorite:

First act was slow, but we had a lot to catch up on, so overall it is a minor complaint.

Favorties, in no particular order...

- Vader scene towards the end. Wow.

- Vader's "Mordor" scene with Krennic

- The rebel/Empire skirmish in Jedha. Felt like a real battle in a war-torn Middle Eastern city.

- K-2SO's "prisoners" line

- The final battle, particularly the Star Destroyer collision.

- Leia's appearance

Least favorite:

- Saw Gerrera's "go down with the ship" moment. I mean, what the hell? This guy has been fighting and hiding for so long and then is just like, "Yeah, time for me to die."

- It was a little hard to keep track of where everything was happening at the beginning because they jumped around from place to place kind of abruptly.

Favorite moments, the CGI Peter Cushing return. The bits with Vader, the action scenes and final battle, I loved the planet scapes especially Jedah. Bringing Jimmy Smitts back as Bail Organa and Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma, which finally connects the prequel trilogy to the classic trilogy (I wish they had a scene with Smitts and Leia), and my favorite character K2!

Least favorite moment - the poor editing in the first half of the film, jumping all over the place, I feel like there were 20 deleted scenes missing in the first 20 minutes. Jyn obviously was a wanted terrorist operating outside the rebels which is why she was captured and imprisoned, and in the trailer she says to Mon Mothma "this is a rebellion, I rebel." when asked about her violent tactics. It undermined her change of heart to embrace the rebelion. Not sure why they cut all that out.

The stuff with Saw Gerrera. Again I feel they cut out a bunch of stuff. The editing made it confusing and he's in the movie for less than 2 minutes of screen time. He's supposed to have a bit impact on Jyn but it was undermined in that he was a throw away character no one cares about.

Krennic - horrible acting, horrible part, horrible villain.

Favorites:
The final shot of Jyn and Cassian
The Star destroyers hitting each other
Vader in the corridor.

Least Favorites:
CGI Leia look awful, especially compared to how well they handled Tarkin.
Not enough Bail Organa.

- Vader taking out the Rebel Troopers in the coridor

- The At-AT appearing through the smoke on Scarif

- Chirrut shoots down the TIE Fighter on Eadu

- Jyn and Cassian bump into the two pirates from the Cantina in ANH

- R2 & 3P0's cameo

- Chirrut takes out the squad of Stormtoopers on Jedha

- Cassian agonizes over taking the shot Eadu

- Jyn shows her skills against the Stormtroopers on Jedha

- The Hammerhead manouver

- The X-Wing and U-Wing take out the AT-AT's

The best scene of the entire film was Darth Vader ****ing up the rebels. It was just perfect, the right amount of badass, terror and skill. The music was brilliant during that scene aswell.

There wasn't much I disliked I thought the film took a while to get going and I hated anything with Forrest Whitaker. I am a fan of him as an actor but his choices here were off to me. I don't especially disliked the scene with you snarky thing cause he didn't trust the pilot.

I wanted Forest Whitaker's character to have more to do. I was disappointed in his Apparent character arc was limited.
I don’t watch Clone Wars, so I didn’t know the backstory to who he was portraying.
I felt it would have been good if he left the planet with the others, then joined the Rogue One platoon for the final raid.

It was indeed, I liked a lot of the movie, but that moment had my jaw on the floor.

The Chocking pun.

The more I think about it the more I love it.

Best: Any scene with Felicity Jones
Worst: Any scene not with Felicity Jones

Favorites:

- Vader's two big scenes
- Jyn and Cassian's final embrace
- The destruction of Jedha
- Jyn watching Galen's hologram
- The entire sequence on Eadu with Krennic confronting Galen and the attack by the Alliance
- Baze going out a like a champ

Least Favorites:

- Not a lot really. The film's biggest problems have to do more with pacing and editing than problems I have with any particular scene.
- The tentacle squid thing
- Saw's death. This is one case where I don't think they did an adequate enough job showing why he would choose to do that and so he all of a sudden becomes suicidal out of nowhere. The rest of the Jedha destruction sequence is great though.
- I thought the informant that Cassian killed at the beginning was annoying. My reaction when he was killed was "Thank God I don't have to put up with him the whole movie."

Overall, I loved the movie.

Saw it for the second time tonight. Still loved it. Probably in my top 3.

A few thoughts:

Really didn't like when Baze calls Jyn little sister.

The part when they are coming into Scariff is a little weird if you watch how the dialogue is and how it's cut, it's basically like "prep for landing" x2.

There's a shot of Jyn and Cassian, I think it's when they coming down the hallway headed out to the beach at the end lingered too long... hinted too much w/anticipation towards a kiss. Was just awkward.

The dialogue the informant has at the beginning is so obtuse and has no context... "it's all falling apart". WHAT is falling apart and why? Saw's group? The Alliance?

So has anyone else thought about the fact that during R1 they are sitting there debating if there if they are ready to go to war, yet the beginning crawl of ANH says "it is a period of civil war". Well, ok it's not "much" of an existing period of civil war... it like "Just" started.

The whole timeframe and reasoning about how the Tantive got into the flagship... didn't focus too much on it the first time... but 2nd viewing... why?

How did the Empire not know Saw was on Jeddah? Or at least why not flush him out if he was that much of a problem?

If Jeddah is under Imperial occupation... why/how did they let the Uwing on? Why wasn't it intercepted and 'escorted'?
