Since we already have a thread for best main MCU villain, I thought we had best have one for best supporting villain as well!

Basically, my criteria for a supporting villain here is any named character who fulfills a villainous role without being the main villain of the movie. They don't necessarily have to be a henchman (or woman) of the main villain, but they have to have a clearly smaller role than the primary antagonist. This is why Dormammu and Surtur are on the list, because they had very limited screen time.

Ulysses Klaue for me, simply because of Andy Serkis. Sultur would've been my secondary choice.

1. Surtur

Proxima Midnight, she's wicked awesome.

But I also really like Arnim Zola, Ulysses Klaue, Grandmaster and Ebony Maw

2. Laufey

Nice to see Laufey get some love. I think Colm Feore did a great job with his limited screen time. I've always loved it when he tells Thor: "You know not what your actions would unleash. I do." He says it in a mournful tone, as if he is remembering all those who perished in the last war with Asgard and is reluctant to start a new one. Laufey is ruthless and cruel, sure, but he also seems to care deeply for his people, and given what we find out about Odin's past history of genocidal conquest, its possible his hatred for the Asgardians isn't totally without justification.

And besides, how many other beings are there in the MCU bad*ss enough to injure the All-father?

I get a better appreciation for him each time I visit the first Thor. I wouldn't have minded if he had an even bigger role in the movie, but he served his purpose and did a good job with it.

For me, the best is Arnim Zola, in the sense that after Winter Soldier, he really wasn't a "supporting" villain anymore. Arguably he was the Biggest Bad of Winter Soldier, being the one who orchestrated the entire Hydra infiltration of SHIELD. He just was half-dead come the events of the movie.

Justin Hammer is Number One. My soul shall not rest until he dances his way back into the MCU.

Honorable Mentions to Laufey, Klau, Grandmaster and Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine deserved so much better than what he got in Homecoming)

I really liked Ayesha in GotG2. Not particularly as a villain (because she was pretty non-threatening), but as a character, she was really entertaining.

For me its definitely a tie between Ulysses Klaue and Ebony Maw. I wish both had stuck around alot longer than they did honestly, because they really stole the show when they were on screen.
