Your Opinion: The Death of Batman (Fan-Made Short Film)

I don't know if you all have seen this, chances are some of you certainly have, but it intrigued me obviously as the title suggests: The Death of Batman. I'd really like to hear your guys' opinion on it (particularly before I give mine). I found it surfing thru Youtube. It's 28:27 mins/secs long. Didn't think I was gonna watch it all, but the story grabbed me.

(I'm placing this in this category because in a way this is a fan-made future sequel but plus no one pays attention to Bat-world or any of the others besides the spoiler section. The people I like to chill with and hear their opinions are here in the Sequels where I don't have to know anything else about TDK. So if you feel the need to say this doesn't belong in this section, save your fingers, and answer the question.)

I remember when this came out in like 2003 it was one of the most contreversial and divided movies ever.
For the record I appreciated the director's vision on it. He was really trying delve into something deeper than a Batman flick. The debates on batmanfanfilms.com were pretty good.

The concept was intriguing. Ultimately, I'd slap Nolan if he ever did something like this or if anyone made this into a real feature film, but the concept from a fan made movie sketch was a interesting take. It was one of those films where it was lame because Bats would never die like that but the creative concept of a fan was appreciated.

I'd like to slap the guy who made the film but then pat him on the back and say "way to be different buddy, many wouldn't have thought of that angle."

Random tidbit: Christian Bale's sister Louise played (the dead) Martha Wayne. IMDB claims she was associate producer of this fanfilm as well. The bat-blood seems to run in the family....

I understand that the director was going for some lofty, dramatic theme with making Batman's actions not always the greater good. However, as a longtime fan of the character, I was really disgusted with the way that the Batman was humiliated - the beatings, the rape scene, etc. I watched it once and never have again. Hopefully that doesn't make me naive.

I thought the theme about the repercussions of self-righteous vigilantism was great, but I think the guy that wrote/directed it used Batman as the vigilante in question in order to attract more attention to himself, instead of making up his own character such or using a lesser-known vigilante character like Punisher or Daredevil or something.

The movie was **** for many other reasons than the fact that Batman, who has survived The Joker, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, and The Riddler's most deadly plots against him, finally gets taken out by a homosexual heroin addict with a taser and a set of chains.

i thought the angle that was taken was very interesting in that batman, or heroes in general, are always thought to do the right thing, however their actions may not always be justified. i liked this film in the way that it was something different, it could have been better but it could have easily been worse as well. by the way, why did no one notice bruce wayne missing for 30 days.

oh and another thing i think that killing batman with a heroine overdose was a horrible idea. to me it showed a weakness in the character that simply does not exist...batman would have easily overcame this situaton.

Replace Batman with Spider-man and that would've been the perfect ending for Spider-man 3.

I'm so glad I've taken Socko's advice and not seen this fan 'film' ( use this term very loosely).

That was a ******ed film.

The people who made it are not true Batman fans; no way would Batman let himself get kidnapped by a druggie, get ass-raped and then decide to kill himself USING the drug.

No. Just no.

And pathetic.

Batman: Dead End, now THAT was a great fan-made short-film.
