I think there will be at least one comedy that will surprise this summer. Like Wedding Crashers last year. But it's damn hard to predict comedies for some reason. Maybe because there are so many of them, and they rarely get the same kind of hype as more FX-heavy summer blockbusters

Can I ask you?

Why you think there will be difference in $10m between SR and DVC???

Also dont think Posseidon will make huge box office, and the same with X3.

If X2 made more than $200m, it isn't guarantee that X3 will make even more than $250m.

But I will agree with you that there should be 2 summer movies, which will make more than $300m.

Agreed. That is why I never predict comedies.

Ofcourse you can ask, lol.

I think that there are going to be TWO huge movies this summer. Two movies that appeal to two HUGE audiences.

-Superman-

While being a comicbook movie, and a "super hero", he is not just any comic book hero. He is an american Icon. Batman, Spider-man, the Hulk, whoever....they all can claim and pretend to be the American Icon, but Superman is. Superman will appeal to everyone.

-Women: The power of the love story between Lois Lane and Clark Kent is amazing. Women gobble it up. If you want evidence for this, look no further than Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, it was huge hit in the early 90's and emmensly popular among women.

-Men: It's SUPERMAN. It doesn't get bigger than that. There is going to be HUGE action sequences, and marvelous special effects.

-Teenagers: Like it or not, Smallville is still a big hit. Even if it's not Tom Welling wearing the red boots and cape fans of Smallville (the casual ones, not the comic offinianados) will be at this movie.

-30 somethings and up: These people grew up on Superman. They either saw SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE in 1978 when they were children, or took their children to see it. Superman is a tradition, these people will go again with their children, or grandchildren.

-Moviefans: Bryan Singer is a very respected film maker (The Usual Suspects), and Kevin Spacey is one of the most respected actors of our time. Also, after the undoubtably huge opening weekend, it will have legs. Because if BATMAN BEGINS was any indication, if a movie is good, and deserves to be seen, it will be. No matter what genre.

-Gay Fan-Base: Yes, and not for the size of padding in Superman's trunks. This movie is being made by two of Holywood's most prominent gay actors/directors, in Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer. This won't have a very large impact, but I expect it to play some part.

-Comic-book fans: The biggest demographic. This is the first Superman film in nearly 20 years. It is also going to be the first (hopefully) good Superman film in north of 25 years. Comic fans have waited LONG enough. Superman, is also a character that is like Spider-man. If you are a fan of comics, I'll bet, a part of you loves Superman. These fans will also fork over admission more than once, some more than twice. This is going to be a huge factor, especially come opening day weekend.

-The Da Vinci Code-

This movie doesn't have these specific Demographics. This movie will appeal to everyone. It has these factors going for it.

-The book: As well as being the biggest book in the past 10 years it has been a hit through all ages.

-Tom Hanks: He is a terrific actor and men and women love him alike.

-Ron Howard: He is one of the most respected directors of our time, and his name alone will put butts in seats.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This movie will be huge too.

I think that these two movies are spaced far enough apart that they can both reach these amazing numbers.

As far as X3: The Last Stand, I think that this movie (If a quality film) will surpass X2: X-men United. It's going to have it's talky moments, promised by Mr. Ratner, but as the trailers indicate it will have amazing action. Also, the fact that it is the last in the trillogy, and possibly the final X-men Ensable movie of all time.

I'm surprised I wasn't flamed or questioned about predicting Oliver Stones': WORLD TRADE CENTER as high as I did.

So y'all think Superman Returns will make more than Batman Begins?
I do.

Not that BATMAN BEGINS wasn't/isn't a good movie, it's just that Superman, while having two sucky movies under his belt had two GROUNDBREAKING movies. Also, Chris Reeves is an "American Hero", and has left a great taste in the public's mouth as opposed to BATMAN RETURNS, FOREVER, and & ROBIN.

Plus, make no mistake, after X3: The Last Stand shows up in theaters, it will be all Superman. He'll be everywhere, he is much more marketable than Batman. Especially in the movie verse. Batman movies are dark, gritty and edgy...in words...not for children.

Superman, like Spider-man, is lighter and more family freindly. However, it is going to be intense and still deliver all the fun and excitment fans want and expect.

Yeah, Returns will probably make more then Batman Begins.

But I think Pirates will make the most this summer.

Since when is Kevin Spacey gay???????
Are you kidding me? He's been gay for quite some time. My dad is friends with Christopher McQuarrie's (writer of Usual Suspects) dad, and said that Spacey would walk around set in pink slippers. He's flaming...and I'm pretty sure openly out of the closet.

Show me something that says it because everything I can find says speculation he is gay. It also says Spacey denies it all.

So Robin is wrong when he said Spacey is openly out of the closet gay?

But hey, Spacey sure did get the job of Luthor very easily. Him and Singer might have had a fun night right before casting day....lol

Pirates of Caribbean 2, Superman Returns and the Da Vinci Code seem like a safe bet.

SPECULATION that he is gay or bisexual. He very well may be, but I can't find anything that says he definitely is. I also can't find anything that says he's out of the closet.
Alright, I'm telling you he is. I don't have internet proof, if that's what you can call anything on the internet. I have never once claimed to know something on here. My dad knows Chris McQuarrie's dad and he told him that Spacey is gay. My dad even held the Usual Suspect's screenwriting Oscar at Chris' party afterward. Believe me if you want.

Also, gay or not, I believe he will deliver the diffinitive Lex Luthor on film.

well, i have world trade center doing 75/260. major breakoutage.

I'm not seeing how:

Over the Hedge or Cars is going to do all that well. I mean, The Wild has made only like 20 some million, I know it's not a "summer" movie technically but still, it's verymuch the same genre.
