I don't hate the casting...I just feel like he isn't what I envisioned? I was expecting someone bigger and bulkier.

A topless scene is a given.

I don’t think Hammer could play this part in all honesty. It had to be someone who has a bit of goofiness and can play a child in a mans body.

My thinking for Hammer was the amazing on screen bon ami of he and Cavill in MFU, just the thought of that spark between Superman and Shazam made me feel excited that it could be for a DC film.

Those two definitely had good chemistry in The Man From Uncle. But I don’t think that makes Hammer right for Shazam. I can see him in some other roles and more so Hal Jordan than Shazam. But like I said he doesn’t have that natural goofiness/cheesiness required for Shazam.

Seeing him with his hai slicked back and being well known as an affable character already... Not bad. Now that the Big Cheese is settled on to casting for Billy, The Wizard and Mary.

Levi is a great choice for this, half the charm of the Chuck character was he had a super brain (and later Batman like skills) all by accident cause he was the dorky dude working a low end Geek Squad style job. He was the kid who never grew up who happened to become a super spy.

A lean muscular protagonist will fit the under dog role better than a bulky John Cena.

The funny thing about the first Jackman pic is that there was ever a period where an actor playing a superhero could get away with just being regular guy muscular. And in the 16 years that followed, he was molded into a bodybuilder.
