In regards to his physique, if Chris Pratt went from fat to fit then so can Zachary. The movie is still months away from shooting and for all we know he may have already started hitting the weights way before today's casting announcement

There are two types of presentation of Shazam/Capt. Marvel. One is the more modern approach used since about 1987, where Billy is simply transformed into an adult with the power and wisdom of a super hero but with Billy's personality intact. In the other it's more like Capt. Marvel takes his place and is a separate entity merely changing place with Billy.

Seems like Zach Levi’s casting has been mostly positive from what I’ve seen.

I have not seen much of Levi's work outside of the Thor movies and I thought he should some decent comedy chops even in the limited time he had in TDW, so as long as he can get to SHAZAM shape, I am sure he will do a great job. Still think Cena would have nailed it though. He is a better actor than people give him credit for.

Oh I see, I guess I don’t know what will work but everything I’ve read and seen I think has been the kid in a mans body.

That to me is one of the big reasons I didn’t want Cena. It would have turned Shazam into a big WWE circus and totally would have taken me out of it. Getting an actual actor is the best move. I still maintain Cena would have been a horrible choice.

Same, he’s just fan tasing down a to a T too he looks the part therefore he is best for it. Honestly it’s only on rare occasions the fans do good casting like Bale for Bats and Cavill for Supes both been fan favourites.

Cena has barely done anything outside of WWE films. It irks me a bit that The Rock has made the transition so well that people think Cena can be a leading man of a franchise so soon. I guess he made it look easy or something.

The Rock had to work hard and pretty much walk away from wratoling for a while to be considered legit. The thing is the Rock could perform on the mic in wrestling and had a charisma that translated perfectly to movies. Cena doesn’t have any of that, he works as a wrestler but he’s like a plank of wood. It’s just fan casting at its worst oh he has huge muscles and kind of looks the part therefore he’s perfect for it.

Cena seems perfectly charming and probably has the right vibe and charisma for some comedy work, but I'm quite happy he didn't land this role.

Let's be honest with ourselves, 90% of the reason people were even saying his name in the first place is because of his build and I wish to God we could move away from the "Body size first, everything else second" mentality. These people can afford f***ing personal trainers and special diets.
