🇺🇸 Zohran Mamdani: The hope of New York City

US News
I do wonder how much it was Trump vs how much it was that he was getting no money. All his monetary support probably has moved to Cuomo for a while now.

Saudi Ambassador if the Redditors are correct.

I suspect he is going to find the deal has changed, since he dropped out too late to take his name off the ballot. We will see if he gets funding to sue to take his name off, ala RFK.

I feel like I'm on meth... Why or in what world does praising the disgraced former Mayor of NYC a good political move?

Post 9/11, they NYPD are treated as almost unimpeachable paragons of virtue by politicians. Likely because they act like the mob. It is clear the Jeffries is part of the NY political machine.

Nice words, but he doesn't have that power.
Who stuck a knish up your bum today?

It is a stupid line of discussion for a mayor, no matter how big the city is. It is not in his power. It is one thing to say he should be, another to say he is going to do something that he clearly cannot do.

can you categorically prove that as mayor, he can't do it?

Even if the US was part of International Criminal Court, enforcement of them would fall under federal authority. Much as how local law enforcement should not be doing federal work in terms of immigration, neither should the NYPD enforce such a warrant. And due to the UN, keeping NY clear on diplomatic immunity is very important.

And so now, you need to convince NYPD officers to execute an illegal arrest. Which is a fantasy in itself, because I suspect that Mamdani is going to have a tougher time working with the NYPD than Bloomberg did. And then there is the question of transferring Bibi to another nation. Well, guess who controls US air space, the feds.

So, the reality of Mayor Mamdani trying to send Bibi to the ICC would require multiple levels of illegal activity, that is essentially kidnapping. It is a stupid fantasy that should be addressed realistically, not playing into the fantasies.

you got me there. I didn't know America wasn't in the ICC. everyone likes to ask Mamdani such hardball questions, I'm surprised with the facts of his claims how no one has brought this up.

Mueller She Wrote said that it would need to win a majority in the Senate for the US to accept the Rome Statute and recognize the ICC. This is a federal issue. Love Mamdani's energy, but yes he won't have the power to do anything about Bibi.
