Yes I have watched the movie.
Comic book movie standards are a lot higher today. Last Stand was almost rated fresh on RT and it is widely acknowledged as an abomination in this day and age. Same goes for the Raimi Spiderman movies as well - they would not work in this day and age.
2013 was...
But this is Fox and Kinberg's second chance to redo the Dark Phoenix saga and they failed, once again. One can even argue that The Last Stand was a better movie. It is simply inexcusable in film making to not learn from past mistakes and that is why critics are being so harsh on this movie.
In...
Because Kinberg and Fox are disrespectful like that. It is like they refuse to listen to what the fans have been asking for the past 19 years. I was willing to give Kinberg a chance since he has gone on interviews saying how much he has learnt from Last Stand but after watching Dark Phoenix, it...
Some of my notes:
- I was looking forward to the film, was willing to give Kinberg a chance, but all that went out the window once the reviews came in. I went in with already low expectations, and still left the cinema disappointed at how badly Kinberg screwed the legacy of this franchise...
Just watched a screening of the movie. It is no Fant4stic but this is probably on par with Apocalypse or Last Stand for me.
The first 30 minutes of the movie felt incredibly rushed with no sense of built up at all. And even though the music was gorgeous and lush, it felt over "scored" to me...
I don't think we should be making any more excuses for him. He has shown time and again that he is a hack. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for Dark Phoenix but he screwed the pooch.
I hope Hollywood stops hiring Simon Kinberg now. He has been given enough chances to prove what he is capable of and he has failed every single time. He should have never been given the reigns to direct this movie.
But this is also the same studio that thought they had a sure fire hit on their hands with Apocalypse and made the mistake of lifting the embargo 3 weeks early. That was an embarrassment.
June 4. The movie will premiere in a lot of markets on Wednesday June 5 since it is going to be a long weekend in countries with sizeable Muslim population, as well as a holiday weekend in China.
It is not looking good for the film, with the embargo being lifted so late and the low theatre...
I remember First Class and DoFP reviews being embargoed very close to the release dates themselves. They overplayed their hand for Apocalypse and it bit them hard.
