The real test for me as far as the EU, is if and/or when they allow Turkey in....

How often do they vote on new members?

Their parliament is voted on every 5 years, I'm not sure on other votes...

That's true.....I don't think that Turkey will denounce the Islamic influence on its government.....and if they don't they'll never get into the EU.

So, Ireland have voted yes...It better be a good thing, I swear to ****ing god. This country is already deep enough in the ****ter.

I know that some like to compare Tony Blair to George W. Bush...but I like Blair.

I really hope this position stays largely symbollic as it is now.

I hope it does. Not because I dislike Blair or anything, but just because it is another step to a truly unified Europe.

I don't mind Blair. Seems like an ok chap.
I can totally see him getting drunk and putting his
tie around his head.

I'd say Blair's eection could be the pound's final nail in the coffin.

If they are going to push for the change, the time is now.....August was the lowest the pound has gone against the Euro.....now would be the time....because the trend is for it to go back up and possibly ahead of the Euro in the near future.

UK economy overtaken by Italy
Slipped from 4th biggest economy to 7th. UK is going to hell. All they need to do to seal the deal is elect Gordon Brown.

Gordon Brown's party is not going to be re-elected. The only reason why he's holding off an election right now is to get the Lisbon Treaty into effect so the Conservatives won't undo it.

I hope they do, it would be an interesting macrocosm to observe.

So we are going to try that one again....

Good luck.
