🇷🇺🇺🇦 Discussion: Relations with Russia and the war in Ukraine

I'm not so sure that's how things work, especially if they commit war crimes in the process.

Alternatively if you pay that Reverend of Corruption $10,000 your sins can also be washed away.

That sort thing got the Catholic church in trouble, hence the Reformation. :(

Does that include rape and torture? What if they don't die? Do they just get half forgiven or something like that?

It's statements like this that really restore my faith in organized religion.

It's a stain on the rest of us Christians. Making people think they have to think this way to belong when it's not close to true. :( Jesus would be weeping.

They can now make him a conscript on the front lines in Ukraine congratulations on the upgrade from 'unofficial' FSB agent to citizen. You don't even need more training, Eddie!

Pretty much cannon fodder for hardened Ukrainian troops IMO.

Firing top generals, meaning that they are being replaced with incompetent ones, and drafting poorly trained civilians into an already botched war? Putin wants a revolution, doesn’t he?

Jesus. The Russian army must be about to collapse.

I mean, there is a reason the conscription is focusing on ethnic minorities first. Plus, do the generals make a difference if he is micro managing the war.

The army certainly isn't in a place good enough to win this war. I hope this means the fighting stops quickly as the Russians fall apart.

Kinda hilarious that a guy who's pathologically afraid of protest and revolution is creating the circumstances for it in Russia right now.

Doesn't make it any less dangerous though. There have been protests (violently suppressed) in Dagestan (mainly Muslim) as well as Chechnya for the first time since Ramzan Kadyrov came to power there.

I genuinely think there's a possibility for the Caucasus to explode again like it did in the '90s if Putin and Kadyrov's regimes become weak enough.

This could not have gone any worse if they had planned it. Actually, it could get worse but let’s not go there.

Nothing Putin is doing makes any sense as far as guarantees success and support for the war. It's bewildering.

To misquote a wise man, “His ego is writing checks that his army can’t cash.”

He bought into the myth of the Russian army. You win by throwing bodies at something. Ignoring what happened to Russian leaders the last time they forced unwilling people to die in a war.

As we have learned ourselves, mercenaries are a bad, bad choice for an offensive force.

Not only is it against the Geneva Convention, but it is also one of the most idiotic thing to do. Give soldiers of the opposing side a weapon within your own lines?

I know, right? Putin can't honestly think they would legitimately fight their own people. They will either sabotage, kill the Russians next to them, or simply surrender with their weapons.,
