Yeah, the estimates for Russian losses have been there for quite a bit.

This is just insane seeing the power plays spill into actual military action. Prigozhin isn't trying to topple Putin, he is clearly setting himself up as successor by taking full control of the Russian military, rather than his private army.

Putin really needed to listen to the rules of having a mercenary army.

Just remember, Prigozhin was all for this war. He eagerly conscripted prisoners to be human shields. Its clear he is acting out now, because its clear he is going to lose his private military, and thus, all his power.

If he pushes Putin out he'll stop the war, though, right? He's saying Putin is responsible for those deaths. If he resumes the war after Putin is gone the Russian people will turn on him, no?

He isn't though. He is blaming this entirely on the Ministry of Defense. Prigozhin's beef is 100% with the MoD. Not Putin. This is about preserving his power, as I think someone was trying to weaken Wagner and Prigozhin's influence.

I can assure you, Prigozhin won't end the war. At best, he will off a ceasefire at the current battle lines, not cede anything back to Ukraine.

Well that stinks. Then the best I can hope for is that this distraction will enable Ukrainian troops to gain some real ground before Prigozhin gets back. I just want this thing over with Ukraine intact.

You would think so. I'm even hoping that perhaps in all of this chaos the Russian people get told the truth about Putin's actions on attacking Ukraine and they turn on him.

Prigozhin was indicted for US election interference in 2016 for Trump and sanctioned.

Zelenskyy always said he could make a deal with Russia but not Putin.

I’m far more interested in a revolutionary leftist party taking advantage of this situation, than I am in Wagner or Putin; but the chances of that are close to zero.
