🇷🇺🇺🇦 Discussion: Relations with Russia and the war in Ukraine

Russia took the bait and lost strategic territory to the Ukraine offensive. Red army got played like a fiddle :funny:

Hopefully Ukraine can wrap this conflict up.

Imagine this with Putin instead of Hitler and you can get a pretty good idea of what's happening in the Kremlin right now:

Nice to know the support is still there.

Unfortunately even those cities that have criticized Putin recently have done so from the far right flank and framing.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the special operation to unite Russia ended up being the catalyst that tore it apart?

I shudder to think where we'd be had Trump been re-elected. Pause and think about that for a minute (or less....it shouldn't take long).

Its a sad fact that there are plenty of people in Russia who are even crazier than Putin is. Its a grave mistake to think Putin's opponents are all liberal democrats.

Great to see Ukraine taking back territory. I’ll be very happy if they can get Crimea back. That will be quite symbolic IMO.
I hope they can do this, too. Put things back to rights.

Meanwhile, Putin opened a ferris wheel today:

I suppose he's gotta find something to take the annihilation of his country's military off his mind, huh?

Does feel like a possible turning point here.

I wouldn't jump the gun yet, but this offensive has been leagues more successful than anyone would have dared hope for even 2 weeks ago, so anything's possible at this point.

As was their initial defense. A lot of people who know a lot more than I do thought this was going to be over in short order.

I know I'd rather have advanced US weaponry than "advanced" North Korean weaponry.

Im glad, but its making me nervous too. A desperate Putin, especially if he thinks his head is on the chopping block, could decide to just bomb the hell out of Ukraine out of pure spite.

Yeah I saw the alleged document (this guy) and his alleged fleeing (to somewhere) vlog but we’ll see if it’s real and verified later.

Related to that, the Russian puppet head of the Donetsk seperatists resigned, so I think he knows what is coming.

AFAIK, that's still unconfirmed, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was true. Those "separatist" leaders were never anything more than tools of Moscow and so there's no incentive for them to stay and fight now its all going to hell in a handbasket.

That's what he's been doing for the last 7 months. Only trouble is that his air force can't establish the necessary air superiority to do proper carpet bombing, and now his artillery is being outranged and obliterated by HIMARS..

True. It seems utterly crazy now to think that before February of this year people talked about the Russian army as if it was a genuine peer rival to NATO.
