šŸ€ NBA: Let’s Get Hoop’d

So.....I'm assuming I'm the only one who thought Indy would drop 80 in Cleveland in the first half and be up by 41?

Glad to see the Knicks come out on top tonight over the Celts. Has there ever been a time I rooted for Boston? No.......

Sorry, however, to see Tatum get injured. They were saying ankle, but when I watched that play, it had Achilles written all over it. I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see Tatum playing again for at least this year and maybe not next.

Celtics are about to enter a really bad period. Selling the team right after winning has to be one of the worst things to ever happen to this franchise. Bad owners really do just change the energy, and the energy around the team was bad as soon as that sale was announced.

Result? Worst case scenario. Losing to a Knicks team they are significantly better than. New owners are going to be cheap and blow up the roster because it's too expensive and the new NBA CBA is stupid. Their best player is potentially hurt and could miss the entire next season. Their second best player turned back into the sucky no handle pumpkin he was two years ago, which directly played into said best player getting hurt. And lastly the godawful coach is probably going to keep his job for at least another year. They'll be lucky to be a play-in team next year.

This sucks.

It was definitely a torn Achilles. The same thing happened to Damian Lillard a few weeks ago.

That's what I think, but they haven't confirmed it. They said they were going to get an MRI to see what the extent of the injury was. I recently had my calf muscle come away from my achilles while exercising (jumping rope) and got an MRI on it. When I finally got to see the orthopedic surgeon he told me the MRI was a waste of time because he could tell exactly what happened just by examining me. Fortunately, I just needed a boot for awhile and no surgery was needed. So, "maybe" this wasn't as bad as it looked???? (crosses fingers). If he had my injury, rather than the tendon snapping, it's a much lesser injury. Tendons take a much, much longer time to heal than do muscles.

Even though I'm a Laker fan and, therefore, can't stand the Celts, I hate, hate, hate to see anyone get hurt like that. I get almost physically ill.

It's confirmed

I hate to see anyone get injured. Even a Boston player and I'm a Knicks fan.
I can’t stand either one of those teams. lol, but I’m pissed that I was right. I just didn’t see any other explanation.

Hope he's able to make a full recovery. (Even though it usually takes up to 12 months to recover from an injury like that.)

He'll probably have to sit out a while year like Durant did.

Yeah.....there's no way he should be back next year; at least not before the very end of the season or the playoffs. I mean, they can push it and shoot for 9-10 months, but I don't think it's worth the risk. I look at what the Dodgers are doing with Ohtani as how to handle this. He underwent a bracing, Tommy John surgery in Sept 2023 and the Dodgers don't plan on having him pitch again until probably July or so of 2025. Of course, he can still DH and win games for them, but if I'm the Celts, I take this slow. I want him fully healed before I put him back on the court. Even then, it's not a given he'll be the same player. I could see it slowing his first step.

sorry this happened to Tatum. i'm not really a celtics fan or anti-fan but he's young enough that he's worth waiting for it to heal properly

and man, that nuggets/thunder game last night was pretty good

tony parker on that list is a little unexpected, but at the same time, it isn't.
he just quietly put the numbers up

Parker’s best years were when he initially broke into the league.

Even though he played for Duke and now the Celtics, I still have sympathy for Tatum. But I don’t think he was ever going to be the one to carry that team. That team wins and loses with Brown.

I wish I was at MSG tonight :hyper:

Knicks vs Pacers should be fun.

Logged in after quite a while...

just want to give my take on the Celtics got eliminated, which make it 7th straight years that the defending champions got bounced in the 2nd round.

And I just want to say that it was not the devastating JT injury that made the Cs lost the series...its clear that the game 1 and game 2 collapse were where this series was lost for the Celtics. Add that KP has some mysterious illness, Jrue regressed, JB played through a meniscus tear...so yeah this was not just the Celtics year...and my prayer for JT for speedy recovery...rest up and get well soon, JTšŸ™

Congrats to the New York Knicks!
First conference finals in 25 years..wow thats a long long time lol
I root for whoever comes out the East...be that NY or Indiana., but it would definitely be crazy if the Knicks meets the Wolves in the Finals...just to decide which team won the KAT-Randle swap 😃

Anyway....fingers crossed for the nice basketball game for the next few weeks.

Do you think the Cs should try to get Giannis this off season?
Its clear that KP will be gone now (he's pretty much useless right now)..so what do you think if Brad Stevens traded a KP-Jrue-Hauser-Pritchard for Giannis?
Or what about a straight up a JB for Giannis trade?

It is clear that JT won't be playing until 26-27 season, so I think the Celtics should try to tweak their roster to be still competitive next season until JT comes back.

I'm not sure I would trade for Giannis. I'm not sure that would work once JT came back, similarly to how he and Dame didn't work. Both guys are just way too ball dominant. The nice thing about Brown is that despite wanting the ball often, he's much better working off ball. Would certainly be a fun experiment, though!

With the second apron and a new owner, I think a lot of pieces are moving. Jrue and KP feel like definitely out the door. I wouldn't be shocked if they trade Hauser. I think Horford is either retirement or one last year somewhere else, particularly because of Tatum's injury.

Brown's injury makes things interesting. He's probably not going to be ready to go at the start of the season, and knee injuries always concern me. Those never seem to go away. If they're going to trade him, now's the time to do it. I'm still a little indecisive if I want a known commodity back or lottery picks.

If Giannis is going somewhere, I'd say San Antonio is as likely a destination as any. the Spurs have lucked out in the draft at just the right times and I think this could help them land Giannis without giving up their young players. I'd hate to give up that #2 pick, but ya gotta give something to get something. I think maybe the Bucks are ready to reload.

enjoying the Knicks run I've celebrated all my teams win a championship in my 46 years
Except for the Knicks would love know that feeling

I don't co-sign the excessive celebrations on 7th avenue and the dummies who threw garbage at that Pacers fan

NYC is a basketball city at heart
