Dunno if ths is true, but if it is, it's sounded like that maybe Holmes parents should've drown him when he was a baby...

The gun range owner did not say that he thought the message was a batman inspired voice.....he said that he wouldn't have known if it was because he had never seen the movies.....but that the voice was not normal on the voice machine, he did his best rendition of the voice....and yeah, it was pretty creepy.

It is amazing how many of them have Texas connections...

The one thing I found strange about that article was the guy making a big deal out of him signing off with "Cheers, James." Like it's the craziest thing he's ever heard, he asks who says 'cheers'? Um... pretty much everyone in Britain. It's a popular sign-off that's gaining usage in the states too.

I know a couple of people that use it periodically....maybe he felt that it was weird because of the weird sound of the voice.....maybe his voice changed when he signed off....possibly the voice did not match what you would think if someone was cheerfully signing off with Cheers....who knows.

No I agree with everything else in the article being weird, but the "cheers" thing was in an e-mail. I chalk it up to the guy being old-fashioned and a bit insular.

Oh, I gotcha....very possible...lol

The more i read about this guy the more its obvious that he had a major psychotic episode.

He was a normal dude and boom, he's nuts. Why the sudden change?

I haven't really discussed what happened in Aurora, CO last Thursday night, but so far it seems to have created the WRONG IMPRESSION, clearly. So allow me to elaborate my feelings:

A month ago, I sit on my computer and I debate whether I go at the Scarecrow or Ra's Al Ghul for the midnight showing of TDKR; a premiere I've been waiting for nearly 4 years. I have always enjoyed dressing up and getting into Batman movies... it's been a part of my life since I was born, ask my family and friends; it's an obsession. LOL But to stay on topic, I decided the Scarecrow would be fun, I dressed up along with a few of my friends and enjoyed one of the greatest nights of my life... enjoying a movie that was an amazing spectacle.

When I returned home after a day of fun, I see my mom watching the news and informs me that a guy in a mask comes into a movie theater and opens fire on everyone. Many dead, many more in the hospital. I still at this moment do not know what possessed this man to go off and slaughter innocents... but it's a crime against nature and will be engraved into my mind as unforgivable. While I watched the tapes posted on the tv, I couldn't help but think one thing: it was a stark night and a boy runs out of the theater excitedly pretending to be Zorro, and little did the boy know that his life would be changed forever. Where his parents would be shot dead in Crime Alley, and where he would become the Batman.

It's people like James Holmes why such an iconic character would become a man at the age of 8, holding sitting besides his dead parents and become a masked vigilante: NEVER did it cross my mind that I would see the day when it was completely the other way around. When I think of someone who hides their face behind a mask, it is meant to protect the ones you love... not yourself. *shrug* All I can say is that I was out to have fun for one night and spend it with people who're big Bat fans like me; to hear people who are fanatics like me where shot ruthlessly is heart breaking.

My sympathies and best of wishes go out to every single loved one who lost someone they loved that night, and the world can find balance in things again. We can do more to prevent tragedies like this from happening, but hiding behind the fear of other people in masks that they might do something horrendous is not the way. If you keep closely within that nutshell, then you might as well tell your children to stop dressing up for Halloween or deny people's talents with Cosplay and not have them dress up for Comic Con. We cannot live without hope and put distrust into everyone because they put on a mask; I cannot believe it would take only ONE MAN to see a half empty theater on an opening day at the movies. I can't say that I blame you... it is frightening, and we all fear death.

But we cannot be lead astray, not like this. Tighten up security by putting up a few cameras in movie theaters and outside of their parking lots, hire more people for security officers, perhaps put a metal detector or two by the doors. We can ALL do more... but all that is being done is hiding in insanity and making shields with extreme laws and decrees. Take control before bigger people do: otherwise, natural First Amendment rights will no longer be rights and become restrictions.

All I ask that let's be more than what others make us; because we can be.

I definitely don't want to be one to pile onto the grief their families must be feeling.... but who takes a 6 year old to a midnight showing of a movie? Or a baby, for that matter?

Any talk of God and forgiveness is in the end irrelevant unless the perpetrator has the means and the capacity to make it up, to earn a redemption through restitution toward his victims and their families and society. This bastard could never make it right if he were to live a thousand years of sainthood.

Thats the whole point of Christianity. NONE of us can EVER make up for what we've done. All have sinned. Some like this shooter FAR more than others and God clearly sees that but as a pure, perfect, and holy being there is no way that any sinner such as the shooter or myself could ever stand in His presence or live in enternity with Him. Christ dying on the cross was a gift to man kind and all sinners because there is no way that any man could EVER earn God's forgiveness. Now is it likley that the shooter will repent of his horrible sin? No. But as a sinner I do pray that he does repent and believe in Jesus.

There were babies in the showing I went to. The mind boggles.

What you said kind of emphasizes the point he made; as far as making things right with the victims and their family, there's nothing this man can do. He can only do for himself now. To ensure, should he believe in that idea, his own way to heaven, but neglecting the fates of those he killed, should that idea be in fact true is now his only possible action. And supposing that idea is true, what if one of those victims were agnostic but on the verge to being convinced of Christianity's truth, dying prematurely of it? And suppose further that this man repents his actions, and does nothing but good in God's eyes until his death thus getting into Heaven? How does he make up eternal hell fire to the agnostic whose conversion was aborted by his gun fire? He can never. Thus all talk of God and forgiveness is irrelevant to the topic at hand. Who cares what happens to his eternal soul when he never contemplated the eternal fate of others.

The guy didn't just turn crazy. This was very calculated. Maybe he was just hiding it. There had to be something messed up going inside his head though.

From reports I've been reading he was planning this attack for months. The insanity plea won't work if it's that premeditated.

I heard on Fox News that he yelled out that he was the Joker before he started shooting, and again to the cops and then cackled.

I havent heard anything on CNN so was that guy embellishing or is this reported elsewhere?

Cripes I started tearing up when I saw a pic of that little girl :(,who does this

The only Joker thing is that he allegedly told the police when he was arrested that he was "the Joker." But as far as I know that has still yet to be officially confirmed.

In confinement he is trying to act deranged to suit the story and plead insanity but he prob hasnt even thought about the planning and premeditation conclusion the authorities are arriving at.

What I do think is that he was too confident of his intelligence and willingness to do what it takes to be sure he was going to get away with it. His plan relied on somone opening the door of his place to divert attention and buy him time to get away. He definitely has another place to go to that we dont know about yet and quite possibly far more ammo. I think this guy wanted to go all out Natural Born Killers style and continue spreading fear. He is going to be in jail forever.

A little bit of good news in the midst of all this tragedy. This man was able to continue living because he received two lungs from one of the victims of the Aurora shooting.

I couldn't see myself doing that either. It's difficult to make plans for these things when you have a child but there are much better options.

An insane person can plan something. They're not mutually exclusive concepts.
