There is NO amount of repentance and confessions that should allow scum like the shooter to be forgiven. As an atheist, I don't understand how confessions wash someone of their sin, especially heavier ones like killing. You feel guilty? Good. You deserve to. Suffer in that guilt for the rest of your days.

Well he has already been forgiven by some of the victims.

And the other victims? Did they forgive him?

So you can do any horrible thing you want secure in the knowledge that you can bank on your God forgiving you if you seem sufficiently sorry?

I don't have a god.

People do horrible things because their brains are ****ed up. Screen that **** early and you'll be saving lives.

Some people do horrible things because they want to do horrible things.

It's one of my real pet peeves. The insistence that certain acts are "inhumane" or that a normal human being couldn't do them if they woke up one morning and decided to do so. Completely, completely untrue, even if it is an understandable reaction to a horrifying situation; people want to think it takes some form of sickness to be able to do such a thing and, thus, they need only worry about the people society deems as "sick."

Stop selling guns and stop giving people that do this publicity. That's the best way to screen for this type of thing.

One of the great immoral flaws of the R word.

Any talk of God and forgiveness is in the end irrelevant unless the perpetrator has the means and the capacity to make it up, to earn a redemption through restitution toward his victims and their families and society. This bastard could never make it right if he were to live a thousand years of sainthood.

And if God existed, and if Holmes "seemed" sufficiently sorry and "banked" on thus being forgiven, of course he wouldn't be forgiven. Holmes needs to absorb into his being the knowledge of his evil and that he should have never done it, and that he needs to earn forgiveness from his victims. It shouldn't be God who forgives anyway, He wasn't shot in the theater.

The only place religion and God has in this argument is within the hearts and minds of the victims and their families and within the murderer's own heart. I doubt the idiot at this point ever cared for any of it, or ever will.

If you believe in the Bondage of the Will, as most protestants do to some extent, then all repentance is a waste of time anyway.

Perfectly said.

Many psychosis do not show up until late teens early twenties....so that would be hard to do....

I truly hope this will push America to better gun control, I mean the guy could get his hands on machineguns and legal. Why would it be legal to carry and own one gun let alone 4 or more.

I doubt this will change though any time soon though.

Is there ever going to be a way to find out if any Hype members were part of this tragedy?

That gnawing feeling in the back of my gut:
is there ever going to be a way to find out if the shooter was ever on Hype....? :csad:

Creepy.

James Holmes is boyfriend material -- that's the shocker a Match.com member says she got when she logged on Friday afternoon to see the site suggesting she hook up with the man accused of killing 12 people in the Colorado movie massacre.

Diana (who asked us not to use her last name) tells TMZ she was floored when she saw Holmes' profile among her matches -- less than a day after the shootings -- saying it was "pretty scary getting matched to a mass murderer."

Diana says the profile said James hadn't visited the site in the last 24 hours, so it clearly had been created before the shootings. The profile also has the same tagline from James' adultfinder.com profile -- "Will you visit me in prison?"

Diana says she informed Match.com of the profile and they said they'd take it down, which Diana says they did minutes later. She took a few screen shots before it was deleted.

Holmes' profile included:

-- Favorite movies: "Too many good movies to have a favorite, maybe Dumb and Dumber, Hachiko, Star Wars, etc."
-- Favorite book: Where's Waldo?
-- "You should message me if you're interested, obviously. Or lookin' for sexy times. Very nice!"
-- Political views: Middle of the road
-- Faith: Agnostic
-- "I spend a lot of time thinking about the future. Mind = blown"

I think the other creepy thing is that on the profile pics shown, he says that he "definitely" wants kids.

Those matches are just done on the trivial information the sites have but still must be scary for the woman to see that.

I was trying to put this in the Notable Deaths section of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_in_film

but someone took it off

I agree completely with the person who took it off. "Notable deaths" does not mean "notable massacres" or "notable events." There's never any massacre or mass-killing that's put in the 'notable deaths' section. 9/11 isn't there, V-tech shooting isn't there, the latest massacres from Syria aren't there. You can't run Wikipedia by your rules, just because you feel it's a bit cold.

Legal or illegal, this guy would have gotten his guns if he really wanted them.

Criminals don't say "oh that's illegal, I guess I won't do it"

Gun control will not stop things like this from happening.

This is exactly my feeling about having my friend's friend one of the people shot in this incident. I never met the man, but it's a very weird feeling that something so far away is so closely connected. And you're right, we are all connected, it doesn't matter how far away an incident is.

I won't speak on the religious part of this post. I'm not religious, and I don't share those beliefs, but it is not my place to argue someone else's beliefs either.

Also, about the WBC thing - that group has to just be doing this as a gimmick at this point.

Yes, we are all connected.

Also, for the others out there that are commenting on that this guy needs to pay back the families and victims of those he wronged in order to receive forgiveness and repentance, it doesn't or should work that way.

Forgiveness of sin, no matter what kind and type, through God is given by God to those that are truly sorry and ask for it and to ask to have their lives changed by giving themselves to God. You don't have to do righteous acts or good deeds. People make that mistake all the time, that acts of kindness mean restitution and repentance, but it doesn't. Yes, these things help as to show you are sorry and have repented, but they are not what you need to do in order to be forgiven.

Sorry, I just wanted to clear that up for people. Also, confession to a priest or something is not the same as repentance to God. People use confession as a way of clearing their souls and minds, because they are confiding in someone. Honestly this is no different than speaking to a therapist. This is dogma and doctrine. I'm Catholic believe me lol. Speaking to God by yourself of through someone has the same effect, some people just chose to speak to priests or whomever, because they feel they feel better by sharing something and getting things off their chest.

Sorry, just wanted to clear things up. But I ask that you pray for all involved if you can and if you want.

Its a good point though, these people know that with the internet media reach to the masses and the love for counter culture of some, the stage is the world to them. It makes their desire for infamy more feasible to obtain.

Think this thread has about run its course if the last couple pages are anything to go by. Adios!

JJJ take it easy. Baneful is just try to introduce another topic and leave a topic that so many of you have ridiculed Baneful on, although I agree his/her point was without merit.

Baneful is not trying to control this thread or tell us what we all should be talking about. Baneful is simply doing what you and others asked...switching to a new topic.

Gun control will not stop things like this from happening.

And people will still murder, pedophiles will still assault, and bank robbers will still rob. Does not mean we shouldn't have laws against them. You really can not see how making it more difficult for a psychopath to buy an assault rifle might not help here?

thank you people, it's good to have some people not surround you overserioisly

Were my other posts deleted? I already said I wasn't going to... ahh nevermind.

Anyways, I also find it extremely ironic how conspiracies surrounded how Joker's death made the Dark Knight box office really high, or at least contributed to it.

And this time the exact opposite has occurred. Before reports of Aurora surfaced, the film was projected to get up to $198 million - and while that still does not beat Avengers, that would still make it the biggest opening weekend in North America without the help of 3D
