The dude maybe flipped out in anger because he prob had dreams and expectations of being someone big and after busting his ass to get a neuroscience degree he saw himself at a macdonalds. I wonder if he saw this Luka Magnotta killer freak get all this attention and that might have set him on the path of acting as a sociopath as means to get attention and started planning a big movie like spectacle with apartment traps and stuff.

Its sad that these crazy killers are starting to pop up just to get attention and be recognized as classic socio/psychopathic characters basically. I think with the internet they feel they have a stage large enough to enact something gruesome like what a villianous character does on screen.

Other things to mention:
Lots of shootings in Canada and the US becoming more common, I mean just look at this poor sportscaster girl. She was in the Toronto mall shooting and now this. It is still counts with a large degree of coincidence, but its clearly reduced. Is gun control too lax and illegal firearms trade picking up across NA?

Doubtful. Just recently the PD was outed by the news for harassing and profiling customers who bought pistols at the largest gun store in town. Basically any African American who bought a gun was followed and prejudged as contributing to felons/illegal firearms possession

From what Ive been reading, it seems like the bombs he set up in his apt were meant to be tripped by officers or maybe his neighbors as a major distraction to occupy the police force so hed have more time to kill the moviegoers.

Don't get distracted from the real issues. Like I've been saying, there's a metal health crisis in America but people don't wanna talk about it because the discussion gets political and to most people that's "boring".

I 100% agree. If not because of the logic that tens of millions of people without health insurance = millions with the need of mental health care that is too damn expensive without it, but I'm going to move in with my stepmom after my lease is up next month primarily because of the fact I cannot afford to see a therapist for my depression/anxiety issues and it is affecting me to the point I can't even afford to live on my own at this point in the first place. This after having no problems for several years on my own in pretty much the exact same living situation. It's simply too expensive and I've tried getting pro bono help but it's a joke dealing with fringe doctors who get paid salary to not actually listen to what you have to say.

2. Are we seeing the last days of free environment theatres and midnight showings? Are we going to start seeing metal detectors/xray at the theatres?

There have been an increase in gang related shooting in Canada. We haven't had a mass shooting since École Polytechnique.

Reports on CNN say the guy lived alone and dropped out of college.

Part of me wants to feel for this guy despite all he's done. Maybe he felt alone, maybe he was mistreated by others, maybe, as another poster said, his dreams were shattered and he found himself working at McDonald's, maybe if somebody had shown him some love and kindness he wouldn't have lashed out like he did. But then I read about a baby being shot at point-blank range, and lose any sympathy for this man whatsoever.

I remember in 2008 people saying TDK was cursed becuase of Heath's death, and the death of a stuntman, then Freeman's car accident and Bale's encounter with the Police. I don't personally believe the Nolan Batman movies are cursed. This was clearly the act of a mentally unhinged person who snapped for whatever reason. But still, it's kinda weird how both TDK and TDKR have some sort of tragedy involved. (Come to think of it, didn't a stuntman die driving the Tumbler during pre-production of BB?)

You had a mass shooting at a mall in Toronto...not long ago....what was it 19 shot, 2 killed?

Or kill any policemen who might rush to recover evidence and information...he told them it was rigged only after he was arrested without incident. If he had been killed, in his commission of the crime or in his apprehension, those explosives would have been detonated by the first people that entered that apartment, taking any evidence with it. He may have thought that the loud music would have been enough for someone (the neighbor that almost did) to enter the apartment - either way, perhaps he wanted to erase all traces of his existence, no matter what the outcome.:csad:

Yes correct. A shooting in the food court of the busiest mall probably in canada in the middle of the day and about 4 years before that there were weapons fired in the main street right by the mall entrance. One of the victims in Colorado was in the Toronto shooting but did not get shot. Something is wrong here.

A woman went up to his apartment, because he was playing music so loud....the door was cracked open, and she almost went in, but decided to call the police instead....the music went off awhile later....the police were not able to come because all police were involved at the theater....

Co-ordinating and executing simultaneous criminal acts, letting yourself be captured by the police, then telling them where powerful explosives that you set are...then you have orange hair and call yourself the Joker?

...was he acting out the movie?:csad:

Maybe he was mentally ill? Maybe he didn't go see a doctor because of the stigma that's associated with metal illness?

Seriously, you gotta be messed up in the head to do something like this. People can go the religious route and say he's "pure evil" but evil doesn't exist, just chemical imbalances in the brain.....

The messed up part is this dude probably learned all about chemical imbalances in school.

That was a gang related shooting.

And only one person died, seven were injured. So hardly a mass shooting.

Well, madness, as you know, is like gravity; all it takes is a little, push EDIT MADE BY MOD...

No but seriously I'd like to know what his relationship with his family is like. Maybe this is just a bonafide whackjob case like the kid in Rampage? No real rhyme or reason, just nothing holding him back and something simply giving him an excuse.

That was a gang related shooting.

Gang related shootings and mass shootings are not mutually exclusive. The toronto mall episode was a gang killing that resulted with many people headed to hospital, some dead. A 14 year old who survived took one in the head I believe. The point I was making anyway was about gun violence becoming more and more common (not nessesarily focusing on the actual technical term or definition of the act).

For example: What does the toronto news site say right now? 2 men shot within two hours just now. And at the end of the article it says its the fifth this week. Guns are out of control.

Right - but of course, he's not at the apartment...he's at the theatre, and knows, absolutely knows, he's not going back to the apartment - ever.

Doesnt make sense because he was in and out of the theatre in a minute. Police caught him at his car and were there within a minute.

I still think the "booby traps" are just him pretending to be clever. Otherwise why warn them? Let it blow up in their faces if youre truly the Joker...

Im curious about warning the police as well. Why tell them at all? He killed people already, hes caught, he wants attention and the world is his stage. if hes that deranged and set up the trap, why tell them? He knew the trap didnt go off because otherwise the police would have brought it up with him. Thats all I can think of.

My point is that it wasn't a MASS shooting.

Also you don't seem to know all the facts in the mall shooting. 1 person (the alleged gangster) was killed. 7 other innocent people were wounded. Those are the facts.

One reason could be he is absolutely toast if he allows the cops to kill themselves. He gave himself up without resistance, the cops pretty much can't touch him but if he willingly allows cops to die, well, he would blow any chance of receiving a fairly normal life in prison/possible insanity plea in favor of the system throwing the book at him.

The man had a choice to act on those imbalances; whatever dark thoughts are looming in his mind. What makes him evil is that he acted upon his darker thoughts; and you don't have to be religious to say that. The man is evil; I'm saying it.

No that just makes him weak. Some people are stronger than others. The brain works the same way.

Now before you start freaking out let me be crystal clear; I am NOT making excuses for this guy. I'm just saying that the brain is a very very complex thing and what you might precive as being evil might just be some guys brain not working the way it was supposed to.
