Guy scammed out of 14,000 dollars by online romance scam

Seriously, I've had these types of people spam my accounts. I've even responded for fun but I would never ever send them money.

With all the reports on these types of scams how does someone still get taken in by them. I understand feeling lonely, desperate and depressed but you still have to use some common sense.

and wouldn't you think something is up when she says she's from Ghana and then supplies a picture of a white woman? Not to say there can't be white people living there just seems highly suspect to me.

what? they used raven riley as their profile and he didnt suspect a thing? people cant be this dense? oh wait its canada

Hey I'm from Canada :cmad:, there's just dense people all over.

20/20 did a interesting article about this once, they went out of the way to track some of them and most were dudes posing as girls, people are idiots for falling for that scams.

I got a phone call a couple of times from a person claiming that they got a notice that there were corrupted files on my computer, & that he would help. I told him I was busy. Could he call back later? I then called PC Max the let them know of a new type of scam, & to also confirm that it was in fact scam.

I feel sorry for people that fall for stuff like that. It makes me sad.

People need to be extra careful & take precautions when dealing with things such as these. However, as the saying goes...."there is a sucker born every minute."

Seriously who still uses my space?

Any messages that originate from Africa or Asia & ask you for confidential information should raise red flags. Usually they offers prizes, investments, money making oppurtunities, even relationships, those are usually scams & are automatic deletes for me. I follow this adage: "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't."
