Hype Life

When did you join the Hype?

(Puts on his best Rod Serling voice imitation) It was on that fateful night of September 2002. . .

What’s your favorite forum?

I like Community (Lounge), General Movies, TV Series (Wrestling) and I'm recently visiting the Superman forums. Things over there have been relatively peaceful since my last run over there where the Smallville fans and the Superman Return fans were involved in a fight to the death about who was the best Superman, etc. . . .

What brought you here?

I remember my wife (who was my girlfriend at the time) was checking out a Superman film rumor I heard back around the Superman Lives Burton Era and she told me about the Hype. She sent me the link and I got hooked with all the hero and film related news. After a few years lurking I decided to join the community.

What made you stay?

I guess it was the camaraderie of the posters along with the great film scoops and rumors. The community gave me the opportunity to share my views and thoughts with people that had similar interests who later on became friends. Sadly, many of them no longer post at the Hype.

Who is your Hype Nemesis?

Nemesis? No one in particular. I like to have a great time and a few laughs with the” hypesters". Unfortunately there have been a few trolls that I've encountered in my time here, but I've put them in their place. The Hype to me has more positives than negatives.

Fave smiley(s):

:cmad::up::up: <---- I call it the Bad Superman thumbs up

:lmao: and :hehe:

What is your current avatar? (post a pic of it if you want)

My avatar is based on Superman III's character "bad Superman" or "evil Superman".

What is your Hype Pet Peeve?

The infamous lag and people that aren’t civilized enough to disagree without resorting to insults, trolling, etc. I HATE BOTH

Real Life:

How old are you?

1.825 Katun (Mayan calendar) :cwink:

Where were you born?

San Juan, Puerto Rico

What’s your job?

Supervisor for a Statistics Office of the local government

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

1996 Nissan Sentra. I'm getting a new car for my birthday (June).

Dream car?

2010-lamborghini-reventon-roadster.jpg

The 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster

What is your greatest regret?

Not following my heart by dedicating myself to music and writing. Both are two of my favorite hobbies, film being the other, but I would've loved to work in music and writing.

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement? Waking up from bed this morning I think the answer to this question changes as time goes by, but at this time I believe that my greatest achievement so far has been finishing my Master's Degree in Economics.

High school mascot?

The Buccaneers

How do you like your steak?

Road kill. . . . . LOL. . . Medium Well with some potato wedges, coleslaw and a nice glass of red wine.

What’s a bad habit of yours? Feel free to mention more if you’d like:

1-If I wake up during the night and go to the kitchen, sometimes I drink from the water jar. . . .

2-Sometimes I trust the wrong people. That has led me to hurt people around me with words when they mess up, play games or piss me off. I don't like being confrontational but if I'm provoked I rarely hold back. It's something I'm working on.

3-I tend to get these really "bad headaches" when I have to do the dishes

Favorite Place to Eat?

I've got a few: Uno Chicago Grill, Macaroni Grill, On The Border or Longhorn Steak House

How many tattoos do you have?

None. Never liked them enough to get one.

Misc

If you could live in any fictional universe, what would it be, and why?

DC’s Metropolis. I would love to see Superman in action. He’s been my favorite superhero since childhood. I would be awesome to see him in action along with visits from other DC heroes.

If you could be present for any historical event, what? Why?

That’s a tough one. I love history and I would love to witness a lot of historical events from the past (too many to mention), but if I had to choose just one, I would love to be present for Christ’s 33 years on Earth. I would love to see it all.

Name three people, living or dead, you would want to have dinner with?

Larry, Curly and Moe. . . . :D. . . . But seriously, WOW, another tough one. So many possibilities but just three. . . .Elvis, Michael Jackson and Gary Oldman.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

Date Night

What is your favorite TV show?

I love TV series and there are so many I like. I’ll name three from the past and three from the present: Twilight Zone, X-Files and Friends. Current: 24, The Office and wrestling, MMA and boxing programming.

What is your best childhood memory?

I remember there was this Christmas, I was about 5 or 6 years old, where I got basically the World’s Finest “combo” action figures: Batman, Robin, Joker, Penguin, Superman and Lex Luthor. I got the Bat Cave, the Bat Signal projector and the Batmobile. It was such a magical moment for me. Since I come from a lower middle class family, it was a huge deal for me to get so many presents, specially those that were about my favorite childhood heroes.

An embarrassing moment?

Back in fourth grade, the days we had physical education (or gym class) we used to have our gym class shorts underneath our regular uniform pants. One day I forgot to put on my class shorts and when it was time to change I pulled my pants down and everyone saw my briefs AKA tightie whities. . . .

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

That would be Willie Wonka’s Chocolate factory. . . ;) It’s a tie between two stores: Borders and Best Buy.

What is the last cd/mp3 you acquired?

The last CD I got was Enigma: Seven Lives Many Faces

Show us a sample of your handwriting?

If you had the power to erase one thread from Hype existence...what would it be?

I think the Religion thread. Not because I'm against it, but today, I believe we need more to focus on the positive rather than the negative. Most, not all religious discussions tend to get very heated sometimes and I think religion or beliefs are a vital part of the person, even if they identify themselves as non-believers. I had a recent experience where two close friends were Christians and now they identify themselves as atheists. I corrected them on some errors they believed about Christianity and all I got was insults and very hateful words. I was shocked because of their reaction after knowing me for so many years and their knowledge of how important my beliefs are to me. I'm no saint, I have many flaws, but I don't like to be insulted or bashed because of my beliefs. I have friends of many beliefs and sometimes there's a exchange of ideas, but we avoid debates at all costs. I like to focus on the good rather than "the bad" or differences.

List 5 Things you want to do before you kick the bucket.

Coke or Pepsi?

5 Things to do before kicking the bucket:

1- Visit Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Amsterdam, Germany, Great Britan, Ireland, Scotland) I would love a big European tour.

2- I would like to get my poetry books published.

3- See my children, if we're blessed to have any, become good people in all aspects: as persons, spiritually and professionally.

4- I would love to work again for radio and have a decent part-time career on it.

5- To have read all the books I've bought throughout the years.

===========

Coke or Pepsi? I choose Diet Pepsi. :oldrazz:

I really only have one question:

- How did you become a pro wrestling fan?

You've been a long-time Hypester, how has the Hype changed from when you first joined?

I noticed that you said you would like to meet Michael Jackson and Gary Oldman...

What would you discuss with Michael in your meeting?

What are your 'Top 5' Michael Jackson songs?

In your opinion, what is the best Michael Jackson performance ever?

Did you see 'This Is It'?

Have you see the youtube videos of the prisoners imitating Michael's songs? If so, what did you think of it?

What would you discuss in your meeting with Gary Oldman?

What is your favorite Gary Oldman movie?

How incredible is he as Commissioner Gordon?

why havent you read all the books youve bought?

whos your favorite Superman?

who do YOU want to play Clark in the new movie?

I really only have one question:

- How did you become a pro wrestling fan?

WOW, that's a great question. I remember back when I was six or seven one of my uncles who lived in the countryside was watching the local wrestling promotion (WWC). I remember he invited me to watch the show and he told me laughing: "They are not fighting for real, they are just giving the viewers a show. There is a good buy and a bad guy. The good guy usually wins". Since that moment I got hooked. I remember watching wrestling ever since.

Who are your top 10 favorite wrestlers of all time?

How many wrestling events did you attend to?

Who in the wrestling world do you hate?

Is that you in your Avy and if so what alcohol is that?

What do you want out of the next Superman film?

What is your favorite wrestling match of all time?

Who are your top 5 favorite comic book heroes?

Who's your favorite actor/actress?

You've been a long-time Hypester, how has the Hype changed from when you first joined?

Well, I've seen that many of the regulars of my time are long gone. Today I see alot of new young Hypesters that bring to discussion many interesting topics and ideas that never crossed my mind. I enjoy sharing with both oldtimers and newbies. I think that today, newbies are open not only to "old" hypesters ideas, comments, etc. but most of the times they bring something to think about.

I noticed that you said you would like to meet Michael Jackson and Gary Oldman...

What would you discuss in your meeting with Gary Oldman?

What I would discuss with Michael Jackson? Mostly about music and writing. He loved music and I consider myself a music lover. It runs in the veins (my father and many of his brothers are musicians). I also would talk to him about his inspiration for this or that song. It's amazing how a song or a poem comes to live having been inspired with the smallest detail of a person's reaction, a melody, the scene of a movie, etc. It's a beautiful gift and sometimes a curse.

The best MJ performance ever?

I would say when he "unveiled" the Moonwalker on the Mowtown 25th anniversary, if Im not mistaken, when he performed live "Billy Jean". It was his crowning moment as King of Pop. He became a Legend that night.

My top Michael Jackson songs:

1-Jam
2-Thriller
3-Smooth Criminal
4-Human Nature
5-I Just Can't Stop Loving You

Yes I saw This Is It and I loved it. I remember back in 93 when MJ was coming to give two concerts here in Puerto Rico. I had bought tickets along with other family members. I remember that that the day before him landing in Puerto Rico he was accussed of the first child molestation charges. I had hopes to see him on the planned This Is It World Tour, but unfortunately he passed away.

I haven't seen the video of prisoner imitating Michael Jackson. As of this moment that is on my "To Do List".

What would I discuss in my meeting with Gary Oldman? I think I would ask him about his way of portraying different characters and changing both physically and mentally for his roles. It's amazing how much he changes from one role to another. I would recommend comparing Oldman's performances on the following movies so I can explain myself a bit better: Dracula, Sid and Nancy, Fifth Element, Nobody's Baby, The Professional, Immortal Beloved, Air Force One and Rosencrantz and Guilderstern are Dead. Compare those performances both actingwise and "lookwise" and you'll see why I consider Gary Oldman one of my all-time favorite actors.

Favorite Gary Oldman movie: There are many that I like, but I'll say: The Professional

As Commisioner Gordon, he has done a wonderful job of giving the character depth and humanity.

I haven't read all the books I've bought because of the little time I have. After leaving work I want to relax and watch TV. But, strangely, at the same time I would love to read. Sadly, I have little time for reading.

My favorite Superman: Christopher Reeve. To me, he'll always be Superman incarnate.

I like to see Henry Cavill to be the next Clark Kent/Superman. I think he's the top man for this role at this time.

How did you become a Superman fan?

Do you still watch Smallville?

If you could've, would you have paid the money to see Michael Jackson live?

Do you currently read any comics? If so, which ones?

Who are your top 10 favorite wrestlers of all time?

How many wrestling events did you attend to?

Who in the wrestling world do you hate?

My top 10 wrestlers (in no particular order):

1-Bret Hart
2-Undertaker
3-Ric Flair
4-Shawn Michaels
5-Chris Benoit
6-Triple H
7-Steve Austin
8-Chris Jericho
9-Edge
10-The Rock

I've attended to 8 live wrestling events. One in Florida (NWA/WCW) and the rest here on Puerto Rico (WWC, WWE and TNA).

Who in the wrestling world I hate?

I think it's a tie between Triple H (although he's a great wrestler) and Vince Russo.
