What brought you here?

I didn't know anyone who collected comics and I wanted to talk about them with people. Frankly, I got sick of friends wanting to chat comics, talking about Harry Osborn as the Hobgoblin and other alterations from the 90's X-Men cartoon.

What made you stay?

Hmmm... Don't know. Just did. Must have been all the wonderful people. I wonder where they went?

Personal attacks in a debate. If you can't debate without getting personal then don't debate. Take a couple years of growing up and then come back when you're ready.

I'm currently enjoying THIS debate. For the most part I think it's been fairly interesting, though a couple people seem to be getting a bit personal in places.

How old are you?
Today is my 28th and 7 months birthday

Where were you born?
Here in the Cincinnati area, though not in Cincy itself.

What’s your job?

I am a night janitor at a local Middle School and have been for 1 year and 1 week.

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

My car is a rusted white '91 Ford Tempo.

Dream car?

The only good car is one beaten with a baseball bat and set aflame. I can't stand automobiles... wish I could ride a horse.

What is your greatest regret?

Dropping out of the Church scene for 3 years. Fortunately, we've started going again just this month. Man I missed it!

What is your greatest achievement?

My family would be the obvious answer. My wife and 2 wonderful daughters are awesome and we are a very tight-nit family, and I love that.

Outside of the cliche answer, I'd say my writing. I taught myself how to write properly (though you wouldn't know it by many of my posts on here) and have been working on novels as a hobby. I'm working on trying to get my first one published now... and I have my first comic book short story being published this spring.

High school mascot?

Hamilton High Big Blue Bulldogs! But I had no school spirit, so I didn't care.

How do you like your steak?

Medium well, but I never get it. Too expensive when eating out and my wife doesn't know how to fix it. My last steak was on my honeymoon... 7 1/2 years ago.

I constantly finish other people's sentances... though I'm often wrong. I can't help it, I do it on reflex. I annoy myself at it!

Favorite Place to Eat?

Hmm... I actually don't know. Maybe Frische's... I think it's called Bob's, or Big Boy's elsewhere in the U.S.

How many tattoos do you have?

Yuck. Can't stand tatoos. I have a whopping 0!

Hmm... I really don't know. Maybe that ol' Harry Potter universe... provided I were a wizard.

If you could be present for any historical event, what? Why?

A tie begin the beginning of everything and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I could so easily stop so many debates with those two moments.

Name three people, living or dead, you would want to have dinner with?

Ryan Jennings, Wayne Maki, and Cheyanne Sexton. Those are 2 friends and a niece who have passed away too young (2 friends were teenagers and niece was a baby). To quote a crappy storyline, if only I could have just One More Day.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

It was either 'Up' or Harry Potter... whichever came out last. Both were good.

What is your favorite TV show?

A perfect 3-way tie: So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother, and Lost.

What is your best childhood memory?

Playing in the woods behind my friend's house with a good 10 other kids. Those were some good times. And it was every day. Wood, creek, hills, etc. I think about it every day.

An embarrassing moment?

5th grade. Walked into the wrong homeroom, had my stuff put away, and the class started. Teacher from accross the hall came and called for me and the class laughed while I gathered my things and left. My actual homeroom laughed while I put them back away and found a new seat.

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

Any good book store, though Half Priced Books would be top on that list!

Hmm, don't remember honestly.

Are you honestly happy with your life? Not money wise, but about Life itself?

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to write novels for a living. I prefer fantasy novels of some sort but I have so many ideas in my head in nearly every genre that it doesn't really matter.

I realized I love to write out of high school but I never went to college, and I didn't pay much attention in English class in school, so I had to tutor myself on how to write using friends, family, and internet. About 8 years later I started my first full attempt at writing a book and finished it. I've been editing it ever since and have attempted to get an agent to pick it up, but with no writing credits or schooling it's difficult. I'll be sending it into a publishing contest soon so we'll see how that goes. And once I do that I'll be moving on to my next story idea.

That's my dream job.

Are there many Jewish Hobbits, or are you the only one? If so, how did you come to this conclusion while living in Middle Earth?

As far as I know, there are ZERO Jewish Hobbits in the world... as I, myself, am not even Jewish. I came upon this realization during my internship at Rohan University. I was a bit smaller than all the beautiful blonde people but I was at least confident in my Jewishness... when the one ugly brunette man with no eyebrows informed me that I was actually British. I know the man is a wormtongue, but I couldn't deny his wisdom. And so I sadly learned that nowhere in the world, was there ever a true Jewish Hobbit

if you could go on any game show, which would it be?

Oh Big Brother 100%!!! It's the reason I love playing Hype Survivor so much. I LOVE that type of stuff. I've filled out the 15 page application three times now but have never sent it in. No matter where I work, Summer is always the buys season and I can't take time off without being fired. Unfortunately, having a wife and 2 kids to support, I can't do that. But I'm hoping that once I've spent a few years in my current job my boss will be understanding when I bring it up.

Hey JH, how's it going?

What is happening with your book?

I'm going through my 4th round of edits. I'll be sending it into a writing competition at Random House for Young Adult novels this month, hoping for a contract and cash prize. Keep your fingers crossed! If this one doesn't work out for me then I'll simply bind the book myself for my own shelf and move on to my next idea.

How is the family situation?

My core family is wonderful. I still wish my wife would get a better job, but she likes what she's doing (Pro sales at Home Depot) so I can't argue with that. My oldest daughter started kindergarden this year and is doing absolutely wonderful and is one of the best in her class. My youngest daughter is fun as always. I got us all back into church, so that feels good. We got rid of 5 of our 7 cats, and our little tiny dog, and turned one of the two cats we kept into an outside cat... so our house smells better.

Money's a little tight, but it's been worse.

Are you in a better place then you were over a year ago?

I'm 150% in a better place than I was over a year ago. I was in a job that had me physically and mentally exhausted and on the verge of a depression, and financially we just weren't making it. But now we're getting by okay and I actually kinda like my job. It's nice to actually be in a job that I can retire from with excellent benefits. The pay is enough and my boss's boss is looking for me to take tests to move up the latter of management... though I hate management, but at least the option is available. And Spiritually I'm growing too, though that won't mean much to some, but to me it means the world.

Why did the CoM not get off the ground yet?

The lack of interest is killing it. Unlike other games where people can come and go without much issue, the Contest of Marvels requires dedication over a long period of time. What started somewhere around 9 or 10 people has now diminished to maybe 5, and even then it's still lacking.

I think it's just too big of a game for most people. But we did get 2 great seasons out of it. I hate that we won't be able to finish the 3rd, but maybe down the line we can return with a smaller amount of characters, or doing the teams thing as discussed. I love having 512 Marvel characters duking it out, but the time it takes for that to work out, unfortunately, is not for everyone.

There actually isn't... but I do have about 4 per hand from pushing mops and dust brooms nearly every night. Helps with that ol' manly handshake Sometimes I bite 'em off with my teeth. Grrrr.

While we Hobbits do enjoy Kosher, Kosher tends to yell and scream when we try to eat her. I've digged and digged and digged, and I swear I haven't found a decent knish yet. I've heard they've found some knish fossels over in the Burrow Downs though, so I plan to check there next. I don't know, Sauron strikes me more as a homogegi... but that's just me. And despite popular belief, Frodo and Sam are straight... so I didn't have to shlep them at all

Favortie Marvel hero?

It changes fairly regularly, but I keep going back and forth between 3 people. So I'll just call it a 3 way tie.

1) Iron Fist... I never cared a lick about the character until his Immortal Iron Fist series, and then I fell in love with the character. That entire series was just phenominal and I can't wait to see what, if anything, comes next.

2) Nova... A character that I liked a lot from his New Warrior days but was nowhere near the top of the list. And then Annihilation happened. It shot him right up there in my top 5 or so, but then his ongoing came out and every issue has just been amazing and I've really grown to love the character due to that.

3) Cyclops... He was my favorite a long time ago but he was always a shadow of the character I thought he could be. Then Emma came and made him even worse and it got to the point where I really didn't much care for him anymore. But then I finished Utopia and the way he strategized the defeat of the Dark X-Men and the Dark Avengers had me in awe and I was sold once more. And now I love him every issue and every plan he makes. I like the other two characters I mentioned, but Cyclops is the one I really root for.

Favorite DC hero?

I don't know if you'd label him a hero but I've really grown to love the Spectre. I don't typically like the hugely powerful god-like characters, but he's just cool. I read about the Spectre in Green Lantern Rebirth but didn't care. Then his stuff in Days of Vengeance was okay, but one he joined with Crispus Allen and I read his 3 issue Infinite Crisis Aftermath mini I was interested. I liked him, but then I read Final Crisis: Revelations and it blew me away. I reread the IC:Aftermath mini and then Revelations again and they read well together and really dig into the character. I was sold. I went out and bought the two minis that took place between them. Tales of the Unexpected, which took this god-like character to a street-level story, was magnificent! Other stuff was okay, and I like the random appearances he's been in too.

I love Hal Jordan and Kyle Raynor as well but the Spectre has my heart in the DC Universe right now. Can't wait for his next appearance in the Phantom Stranger tie-in of Blackest Night.

Favorite Bond film?

I've, uh... heh... um.... yeah, never seen a bond film. I hear they're good though. I'm not a big tv or movie buff.

Which Immortal Weapon is your favorite?

Hmm... well Iron Fist obviously, but discounting him.... Prince of Orphans. I just think the guy is awesome, and the last issue of the Immortal Weapons mini sold me even further on that. He's got a great look, a great character, and his powers outshine anyone else on the page every time. I'd totally buy a Prince of Orphans ongoing.

Which Iron Fist of the past is your favorite so far?

Hmm... most of them were really interesting... save that stupid futuristic one. That story was just dumb.

I'd say my favorite is Bei Bang-Wen. The Iron Fist with the perfect strategy mind really intrigues me. And his issue was really good. And I really liked the Brahman in that story... just as interesting as Iron Fist or any of the Immortal Weapons. I wouldn't mind seeing more of him or his descendants.
