TAS, need i say more?

just about every character who was in both cartoons was by far better in the original Animated Series. Jubilee, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops... everyone.

Rogue from Evolution was pretty cool, though.

-1992 Cyclops or Evolution Cyclops?
1992 Cyclops. Simply the better version. Much more of a leader, and much more in the sullen anger department.

-1992 Jean Grey or Evolution Jean Grey?
Evolution Jean. She may not have become Phoenix aside from in Xavier's glimpse into the future, but she was a vastly superior Jean in my opinion. Annoying at times, definately, but still preferably to the pathetic example in TAS.

-1992 Professor X or Evolution Professor X?
Evolution by an absolute mile. 1992 Xavier had the most irritating voice known to man. It wasn't very Xavier. He was a bloody whiner too.

-1992 Apocalypse or Evolution Apocalypse?
1992 version. I didn't really like what they did with Evolution Apocalypse. He didn't fit into the plot so well.

-1992 Magneto or Evolution Magneto?
I'm gonna call a tie on this one. I loved both versions of Magneto.

-1992 Rogue or Evolution Rogue?
Again, a tie. TAS has Ms Marvel Rogue, but the Evolution had a pretty kick ass Rogue too. She was just kick ass in a different way.

-1992 Nightcrawler or Evolution Nightcrawler?
Evolution, if only because TAS Nightcrawler didn't get a lot of development.

-1992 Storm or Evolution Storm?
TAS. Evolution Storm kind of got swept to the side in favour of the younger members.

-1992 Toad or Evolution Toad?
Evolution. Much more in the way of development.

-1992 Quicksilver or Evolution Quicksilver?
Evolution. He was a bloody pest. I didn't like the whole goody-goody Quicksilver of TAS. Boring.

-1992 Blob or Evolution Blob?
Evolution got much more development.

-1992 Pyro or Evolution Pyro?
Evolution, if only for the scene where he watched Magneto's 'death' over and over whilst chuckling to himself. His power displays where generally much more impressive too.

-1992 Mystique or EVolution Mystique?
Evolution. She was brilliantly devious, especially when she sought revenge on Scott.

-1992 Wolverine or Evolution Wolverine?
Evolution. TAS Wolverine annoyed the hell out of me with his ever-boring Jean lust.

TAS. He was that bit more psychotic.

TAS. Evo didn't get much of a look in.

Evolution. I hate the whole mystic jem thing, and TAS dealt with it in too much detail.

Evolution by a vast, vast amount. TAS Avalanche was nothing. Evolution Avalanche was truly a character.

TAS

Evolution. The TAS Cannonball was sickening.

-1992 Jubilee or Evolution Jubilee?
TAS. She was obviously much more in the forefront of that series.

-1992 Beast or Evolution Beast?
Personally I prefer Evolution Beast. Nicer design.

Evolution Wanda was vastly superior. TAS Wanda was weak and pathetic. Evolution Wanda was much closer to the all powerful version from the comics.

Evolution. Much cooler.

-1992 Colossus or Evolution Colossus?
Evolution had a more interesting story.

Overall, whilst I enjoyed both series, I much prefered Evolution.

TAS mostly. The art was much better and the characters seemed more like themselves. Evo is closer to movie verse. The badguys in the TAS could have been better, they seemed to get their asses kicked every time. Also the plots in Evo made much less sense to me. And since they translated this one in Romanian (3 people doing 20 characters) i could never really get into it.

X-Men: TAS doesn't even come CLOSE to Batman: TAS, and yes, I am more an X-Fan than a Batman fan. Heck, I don't consider myself a fan of Batman's, but I know a damn good cartoon when I see one. X-Men's in hindsight was good, but nowhere NEAR good enough to be "Best ever".

I totally agree with you. X-Men TAS was amazing, but Batman TAS was so well done. I mean, it was such a great cartoon.

To each his own my friend. X-men TAS did such a good job of getting the feel of the comics...it felt like I was watching the comic page for page for the most part. Other cartoons have tried to do that, and the movies as well, but none have succeeded to the extent X-men TAS did. I am a hardcore comic book x-men fan, and TAS came closest to reproducing what was in the comics, and that's why I like it so much. You don't have to like anything you don't want to, but in my opinion, X-men TAS beats every other cartoon into the ground (Spider-man TAS comes close)

Hmm, I think they were different beasts.

TAS stayed faithful to the comics.

Evolution took more of a movie approach, which I prefered. The comics are great, but the cartoons shouldn't be carbon copies.

Overall I liked Evo better, I know thats heresy but I liked most of the characters a lot more. Evolution Cyclops, Jean, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Professor and Mystique are vastly superior in my opinion. And I hated Jubilee in TAS. The only character I liked better in TAS was Wolverine.

TAS was fun when I was younger, but I don't find it nearly as entertaining now that I've grown up. I think TAS was a great Saturday morning cartoon and all, but I think Evo is a lot more relevant today. I also liked the fresh perspective Evo brought by doing things differently.

Evolution had superior character development. An all around better voice cast. Original and good stories. Better animation. And more time was put into it.

Evolutions biggest flaw was that it started out very shakey. By the second season, it really came into its own and it was awesome.

TAS just had one flaw too many for my liking.

Well, carbon-copies of the comics aren't necessarily a good thing. Yes, it took some liberties, but not nearly enough. When you add to that that it had animation quality straight out of the early 1980s and some seriously awful stuff (for instance, Storm - every single line she ever had in this show was cringe-worthy and the delivery was even worse).

I rarely ever watched Evo, by the time it came on I was more interested in sleeping in on Saturday mornings than watching cartoons, but I definitely give it credit for boldly going where no comicbook-based cartoon has ever gone before - new territory.
