Perhaps you should further acquaint yourself with Redford's work before you start proclaiming what you did in your original post.

You didn't even get the name of one of the films correct - It is SPY GAME and not SPY GAMES - Please.

Are you that petty? I mean come on i called in Spy Games and it was Spy Game. You act like i called it SPY BASKETBALL, or some ****. I got one letter wrong..it's like having a hissy fit over someone writing Batman Begin instead of Batman Begins with an 's'.Everyone knows what i meant.

And i was referring to Redfords recent flicks, if you'd bothered to read my original post, not about all the films in his long career....please.

I'm surprised nobody ever mentions Sneakers. As far as "hacking" movies go, that's much closer than more popular ones like "The Net" or "Hackers".

I love Sneakers, as a thriller i thought it was top notch.

I agree with you on The Last Castle, though I think its too patriotic for most people's tastes :P

Ive never seen the Spy games myself so cant comment on that.

Sneakers is great with an awesome ensemble cast. I bought it on dvd for $5.50.

Robert Redford is an incredible actor ,and like Clint Eastford, the films he's done when he's older (now) are just as awesome, or sometimes even better, than his old flicks. I've been surprised at how people were not very receptive towards :Spy Games and The Last Castle.

Sometimes even better? Hence why I mentioned BRUBAKER.

I hate to break it to you, but Redford's films of the last 2 decades can't even compare to his early work. Look at his films post 1986 and then tell me his late work compares to his work pre-1986.

People were not very receptive to SPY GAME and THE LAST CASTLE because they are garbage when compared to BRUBAKER (prison) and THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR (CIA/Spy genre). What are you going to say next that UP CLOSE & PERSONAL is as good as BAREFOOT IN THE PARK.

The cat is one of the greats, but he simply has not found the great roles and scripts in his later years that he found in the first part of his career.

Because he does not share your opinion, he automatically has not watch a lot of it? I already spoke about the subject in my first post....

First of all, the movie is called SPY GAME (Not SPY GAMES) and it is not under-rated. The movie is a mess. Far from a "Redford" caliber movie.

Second, THE LAST CASTLE isn't even Redford's most under-rated prison movie - that honor goes to BRUBAKER. THE LAST CASTLE was a terrible script with two great performances by Redford and Gandolfini. However, a terrible script.

So, read the whole thread next time. THE LAST CASTLE was nothing more than flag-waving propoganda in a muddy script with poor character development, an inaccurate portrayal of prisoner behavior (military prison or not) and improbable scenes where key characters seem to avoid hundreds of bullets. Two good performances by Redford and Gandolfini could not save shotty direction, bad editing and a weak script. As for SPY GAME, typical early Tony Scott all style and no substance. Watch SPY GAME and THE LAST CASTLE and you will notice that both films have protaganists that are supposed to be fighting the system yet the act and behanve like the very same system they are supposed to oppose. These are not terrible films, but they are mediocure at best and far from Redford caliber films.

SPY GAME'S' and THE LAST CASTLE are 'my' two favorite Redford movies. Yeah, i've seen Brubaker but like i stated in my original post, i'm referring to Redfords recent body's of work-the work he's done when he's older-now. Not the films he's done 10, 20 years ago......

I never claimed that they were. Im just saying just because you think a movie is "average" doesnt mean someone else does. If you cant handle other peoples opinions I suggest you find another place to discuss movies.

How about people "backing up" their opinions with their film knowledge? It is called debate and I will debate someone any day of the week who tinks that either (let alone both) of the films in this thread as some of Redford's best.

Well put, i couldn't have said it better myself. Obviously some of the people on this thread are die hard Redford fanatics, or have ADD. Either way, i'm glad i'm rattling their cages with such a simplistic statement as "SPY GAME and THE LAST CASTLE are my favorite Redford movies"........
