Where the bulls really that good? when they had the 70-15ish record?

What a stupid question. They dominated in argubaly the best era of the NBA (90's with Malone, Barkley, D-Rob, Payton, Kemp, Tim Hardaway, Zo , Penny. Grant. Shaq...)

 Good Point. Jordan is the reason why none of those guys have rings. :D

here comes the argument..the best era was the 80's by far... prrof is in the video games(hear me out before you decide my lunacy) go to any basketball video game..any one..and lineup the 80's all stars with the 90's all stars..the roster for the 80's is waaaaay deeper... and they actually had good TEAMS.... we had like 20 or so 2005-2006 pistons teams..that played as a team and played well ..the level of competition was far superior..... MJ had no other opposing 2 guard in the league during his time with exception to clyde for a spell....

i think the 90's was one of the dullest era's

The 90's were the heydays of the NBA. You're basing an argument on video game stats.

the 90's were a lot of innovation in the game came in from an athletic standpoint (players playing all 5 spots like Pippen, Garnett, Duncan, Webber) and gaurd/foward/point players (Magic may have started but Penny, Grant Hill and players like that took to the next level)

read the post again alpha...they heyday???? psssh why cause you grew up during that time????? beg to differ...the NBA was BORN in the 80's rivalries..great TEAMS...great PLAYERS...... the 90's were the bulls and everyone else..... name the great teams of the 90's and the great players of the 90's where would they rank all time?

this era is more exciting than the 90's .... more competition.... better athleticism....

but the 80's was a physical era..no layups ... you had to earn them..jordan introduced the TICKY TACK foul.... you earned EVERY point in the 80's and practically everyplayer played d...

i can agree with that ..but every sport has to evolve.... just naming the evolution doesnt make the era better....it also turned into the me first era...which phoenix ..san anton and detroit are changing....

but the BETTER BASKETBALL...was played during the 80's.... the fast break ..the defense.... the celtics...the lakers... the pistons.... the sixers...
i'll take anyone of those teams from the eighties and they will mop the floor with any team from the 90's(exception to the bulls, who would have a chance)..

But y'all know MJ was running **** in the 80's too. That 88 MVP year was one of his best. But c'mon everyone goes on about the 80's, but they always mention the same two teams LA and Boston. Sure there were some other good teams but the teams from the 90's (even the ones who didnt win anything) are remembered more (Hornets, Warriors, Pacers, Rockets, Nets, Heat, Magic,Suns, Sonics, Blazers,Lakers)

The 90's Bulls would beat the 80's teams physically. Look how scrawny players in the 80's were

Did you see the players who SL mentioned? I grew up and saw both time periods of play, but I enjoyed the 90's better. Almost every game was a joy to watch. (not like that anymore.)

The NBA as a sport was in its heyday in the 90s. This is largely due to Jordan's impact. His image / brand turned Nike / Gatorade from multi-million dollar companies into multi-billion dollar companies. I factored in playing, revenue, and the amount of high profile names. It's the nineties by a mile when it comes to the heyday.

The 80's had great players, and they played team basketball very well, but IMO, the 90's were more dominant in every way.

Also, the 90's were the Bulls, Supersonics, Jazz, Knicks, and occasionally the Trailblazers. Those teams were perennial mainstays. You're partial to the eighties and that's great, but the 90's were the peak of the league.

Not to sound like a dick, but how old are you? You must not be that old if you don't remember how good that team or any of the Bulls teams during their championship wins were. You could take any of those teams and put them against this year's, last years or the year before Detroit Pistions and they could come out on top in a best of seven series.

If MJ didn't retire they probably would have won 8 straight tying Bill Russel's Celts record.

Dont get me wrong the 80's had some of the most exciting and fun basketball ever and it is one of the best eras (well every decade since 1970 has been great) but I feel like the NBA's physical peak was in the 90's (see Malone,Barkley,Rodman, O'Neal and Johnson and Hardaway and Hill too). the 80's players looked smarter and could run the ball but the players in the 90's were physically stronger on defense and had goo transistion offense

In terms of marketing I will agree with you but I have to say it's true talent/competitive heyday was in the 80's. Quite possibly the best decade ever for the NBA. Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dr. J, Hakim, Charles, Worthy, Kareem, Robinson, Wilkins, Pippen, Isiah, and on and on and on and on.

IMHO anyway. With the exception of the Pistions, and Spurs, maybe Dallas and the Suns teams in this era couldn't hold their predacessors jock straps.

thats the evolution of the game luda...the guys would be building and evolving too.... but the badboys of detroit.... how long did it take jordan to get by them??? when zeke was washed up and laimbeers knees were gone???

the celtics ran things with physicality.....

the sixers were no joke either

i dont remember any teams from the nineties except the bulls the jazz and that one suns team(lakers of courser but thats biased) shoot if the rockets didnt win those two ships i wouldnt even remember them....

and alpha you said it the better basketball was played then..thats all i care about... the nineties brought more rev in.... but thats all jordan ..the NBA was a sidekick....

If you compare every team in the league with there rosters from the 90's to there rosters from the 80's. Other than 4 teams (Boston,Philadelphia,Denver and LA and even that's arguable) the 90's rosters are better than the 80's ones.
Look at it team for team

Yeah, that's true. MJ is probably the only thing that most people remember about the 90's NBA. :(

I used to love watching the Bulls play the Knicks in the playoffs.

MJ left Patrick Ewing, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, John Stockton, Karl Malone, and Charles Barkley unfufilled in their careers as a result of his success. Now they're probable hall-of-famers w/ no rings. :o

Hakim, Cylde and the rest of the Rockets championship teams all need to kiss MJs ass for retiring for two years so they could win their rings.

The rest of the world can have and keep Michael Jordan. David Robinson was my man.
