That loss to the suns makes me want to cry :(

How about my Dallas Mavericks? 14-5.

While it's still early in the season, I love how we're playing at the moment and expect more good things to come. We just need to tighten up our defense, get a better big man other than Dampier, and we'll be fine for years to come.

I still believe we should've won the championship in 2003. If Dirk hadn't went down, we would've beat SA for sure.

San Antonio is playing great ball as always, however, I'm not sold on them at all because it seems people allow them to score at will and intimidate them. In my view, all you have to do is clog up the middle and force them to shoot jumpers.

oh it's ok. It could have been worse, if Amare played he would be making posters of the rookie frontline, so it wasn't all bad.

This is true, but somehow I suspect you wished you had won that game instead:o . Cause you know, a win against the best team in the league>> a dunk everyone's already forgotten about:(

Of course I'd rather have won, but I'd still like video of that for avatar purposes :(

Artest wants to get traded to the knicks but most likely to the Kings:o

Ron Artest stunned the Indiana Pacers on Saturday by requesting to be traded, telling the Indianapolis Star that he believes the team would be better off without him.

Artest

Artest, who has missed the Pacers' last two games because of a wrist injury, told the Star that he doesn't like playing for coach Rick Carlisle and would prefer to be dealt to the New York Knicks.

"I think I cause a lot of problems here," Artest told the Star in a one-on-one interview Saturday; the story first appeared on the newspaper's Web site. "If the trade rumors, if there is any truth -- maybe it won't be a bad thing. They probably could win more games without me."

Artest said he wants to play in an offense where he's allowed to shoot more, adding, "If it was a perfect world, I would be going to New York."

Pacers chief executive Donnie Walsh was taken aback by Artest's request, saying the former All-Star and defensive player of the year had never raised such concerns with team officials.

"I've never heard him say anything before," Walsh told the Star. "He hasn't talked to me, and I see him every day.

"He can always come up and talk to me or [team president] Larry Bird," Walsh said. "From here on out, I expect Ronnie to be a professional. ... [This] isn't the best way to get a trade done."

"You never want to lose someone like that," Carlisle told the newspaper, calling Artest "one of the elite talents in the league."

One of the NBA's best defenders as well as one of the league's most combustible players, Artest set off last season's Pistons-Pacers brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills by charging into the stands after a fan who threw a drink. Artest was suspended for the balance of the season -- 73 games.

"I still think my past haunts me here," Artest told the Star. "I think somewhere else I'm starting fresh. I'm coming in with baggage but people already know about it and how I'm going to be. Either they're going to be for me or they're not going to trade for me. Here I think my past haunts me.

"I think [Indiana] will be a better team without me."

Artest said Carlisle is a good coach, but criticized the Pacers' structured offense as too restricted for him.

"I'm so demanding of the ball. It's not my fault," Artest told the Star. "Every time somebody is on me it's a mismatch. It messes up the offense. I like Coach [Carlisle] as a person, but I don't like playing for Coach. I like my team, though."

"Don't get it twisted. He's a very good coach. He knows what he's doing. I personally don't like playing for him. I would not want to see him get fired for me after all the immaturity I've been through with this organization."

Artest, whose contract expires in 2008 and includes an $8.5 million player option for 2008-09, makes $6.5 million this season.

i have a new proposition for the new season,

i propose that Football be declared a National Safety Hazard, and removed from every school, college and public place PERMANENTLY!

2005-06 Power Rankings: Week 6
RANK (LAST WK) TEAM REC. COMMENT
1 (1) Pistons 15-2 Pistons might reside in the league's toughest division, but even in the Central, can you say anyone is close right now?
2 (4) Mavericks 15-5 Mavs just keep picking up injuries and racking up victories. They've also already beaten just about every team in the league playing well these days.
3 (2) Spurs 16-4 Remember a week or so ago when Pop said it's too early in a such long season ''to go after these guys'' like he wants to? Just a hunch, but it'll be harder to hold back after that loss in Atlanta.
4 (6) Clippers 14-6 Beating a hot team like Suns, without Maggette, moves Clips ''up another notch'' in Dunleavy's estimation. If you disagree, you're in a dwindling minority.
5 (3) Grizzlies 13-7 After their two previous two-game losing streaks, Grizz reeled off win streaks of four and six games, respectively. This time ... let's see.
6 (7) Suns 13-6 Remember when D'Antoni said in the weekend edition of the Daily Dime that Amare-less Suns would win 50 because Nash ''has always won 50'' and would figure things out? Not such an outlandish claim anymore, is it?
7 (10) Timberwolves 12-6 They're getting none of the Surprise Team ink, like Clips and Suns sans Amare, but I'm guessing KG and Co. will be content with the longest win streak in the West (tied with Dallas at five).
8 (8) Bucks 11-7 Joe Smith's knee injury could have been a serious setback. But Bogut has looked rather NBA-ready, so it's not.
9 (5) Pacers 12-7 Pacers are ''a better team without me,'' Artest says. After a statement like that, and what he added about Carlisle, who can argue with Ron-Ron?
10 (12) Heat 11-10 We knew Heat would be starting over with Shaq back. Turns out they're starting all the way over.
11 (9) Warriors 12-8 Warriors can rationalize a couple narrow losses to top teams (Suns and Pistons). They didn't have this many wins last season until mid-January.
12 (11) Cavaliers 11-8 Two obvious problems: Cavs aren't winning lately when LBJ scores big, and they're not playing anything close to the sort of D expected by their Pop-schooled new coach.
13 (13) Nuggets 11-10 The 3-point shooting is still amiss -- 24.9 percent as a team -- but 'Melo's 40-point night in Miami suggest that Nuggets' misfortune with injuries might finally be fading.
14 (14) Bulls 10-9 I'd like to focus on the 6-1 record in their last seven roadies, but how can I? Upon hearing Bulls and another big man are facing health issues, this time Chandler's breathing, I can't.
15 (24) Lakers 10-10 Even if the Zenmeister has gone over the line with his Kwame cracks, that's about all you can find fault with. To have this crew at .500, through 20 games, is something.
16 (25) Rockets 7-12 Can't even say for sure that this is the Team O' The Week From Texas, after Mavs went 4-0. But a 3-0 week for Rockets, given how punchless they've looked, is a big-time boost.
17 (18) 76ers 10-11 One of the toughest teams to read so far. This much, though, is pretty certain: One tutoring session from Moses Malone isn't nearly enough to drastically improve Philly's rebounding.
18 (17) SuperSonics 9-10 They've been better lately, but there's a reason Sonics haven't been over .500 yet this season: No team in the West allows more than 99 ppg ... except Seattle at 104.8.
19 (23) Nets 9-10 The committee (of one) reserves the right to update its thinking, and we did: Nets are far from fixed, but Wiz still edge them as East's foremost disappointment to date.
20 (20) Kings 9-12 Kings just completed their longest winless homestand (0-4) since 1992. So long ago, in other words, that we're talking roughly six years before anyone started calling Arco a tough place to play.
21 (16) Wizards 8-11 Sad but true: More than anyone else in the East, Wiz have left me wanting more. They've teased us twice -- looking so good in beating Spurs and Pistons -- but more regularly have fallen well short of their potential . . . even without the departed Hughes.
22 (15) Hornets 8-12 Hornets are facing their first on-court crisis of the season, but, as with Warriors, it's all relative. NO-OKC didn't secure its ninth win last season until Feb. 9.
23 (19) Magic 8-11 The recent 0-5 slide was a blow, but Magic can't be too down given Howard's progress and Grant Hill's expected return this week.
24 (21) Celtics 8-12 Thanks to Rockets' win at Sacto on Thursday night, only one team in the league has failed to win two in a row at least once. That would be Celts.
25 (22) Jazz 8-12 Out on a limb we go: If Kirilenko can't shake his funk and Boozer never comes back, it won't matter that Okur is playing the best ball of his life.
26 (26) Knicks 6-13 The bright side of starting the season with a flurry of games in the West: Knicks don't have to travel farther away than Texas for the next four months.
27 (30) Hawks 3-16 You probably won't see a more surprising scoreline than Saturday's all season. You also get the feeling that, without stunning Spurs, Woodson wouldn't have lasted until the next Power Rankings.
28 (29) Raptors 4-17 Why would Bosh want to leave for L.A., Phil? Raps have won three of five ... and one of the losses (Washington) came in OT.
29 (27) Trail Blazers 6-14 Before 2005-06, Portland had never lost two games in one season by 39-plus points. And with one of their few vets (Miles) hurt now, Blazers have to brace for more lows.
30 (28) Bobcats 5-16 With the league's longest losing streak (seven) and 10 consecutive defeats on the road, Bobcats must be starting to long for the day when they were a plucky expansion team carrying zero expectations.

I figured someone would have beaten me to it by now but...Stan Van Gundy resigns as the coach of the Heat. Pat Riley takes over. Van Gundy said he resigned because of ''family reasons''

Well, if no one wants to believe that that's fine. I personally refuse to join in on the whole conspiracy theory that Riley ordered Van Gundy to resign so that he can rejoin the team as coach. Following this team as closely as I do (even though I don't know what goes on behind the scenes) I don't think that's what happened at all. Van Gundy was always very loyal to Pat as an assistant and I don't think Riley would be the kind of person to turn around and stab Stan in the back.

Van Gundy was a good coach. Riley should give the Heat a boost especially on the defensive end. I hate to see Stan go, but I'm eager to see what Pat does with this team and how he handles them.

FIYA NBA Rankings #5
Rank Team FIYA Analysis
1 Pistons

They're so good, I may as well use a cliché:
They're firing on all cylinders!
2 Spurs
After posting 12 and 10 in a loss to the Hawks, a dejected Tim Duncan took the all-wise Robert Horry's advice and went to Club 112, found the sista with the biggest booty in there and took her back to his hotel room. You can expect a big week from Timmy Dawg.
3 Clippers
While I agree that Mike Dunleavy is doing a great job, I refuse to tout him as a coach of the year candidate, because of the poor coaching job he's done with his son.
4 Mavs
With the emergence of second-year star Devin Harris, the Mavs now have two good point guards that aren't championship caliber.
5 Suns
Steve Nash is the best point guard in the world. There, I said it. Not that it'll stop every white guy in the world from gloating, but I did have the integrity and courage to say it anyway.
6 T-Wolves
Kevin Garnett has won more fantasy league titles than any player in any sport. You know what that means? Common idiots, from mailmen to dentists, have done a better job of building around KG than Kevin McHale. Hell, that
new baby panda would win a fantasy league with KG.
7 Grizzlies
Tough week for team ball.
In other news, Shane Battier has added a new wrinkle. No, not to his game…on his head.
8 Warriors
Baron Davis came home to find Mike Montgomery, Michael Adams and Hersey Hawkins in his living room. "Baron, we're not attacking you. We want to help you. You have a problem, Baron. These guys know what it's like. Let them help you," said Montgomery. A confused Baron replied, "Man, what the **** you talkin 'bout? Why you in my house?" Adams responded firmly, "Cut the **** Baron! You're taking too many three-pointers. Everyone knows it. Don't make it worse by lying! You're an addict! I see the signs. I been there, brother."

9 Pacers
Artest is asking to be traded and J.O. is hinting at a trade demand, himself. The chickens are coming home to roost on chicken-lipped Larry. Zeke's Disciples will make sure of it.
10 Bucks
The frontcourt of Bogut and Magloire will be the cause of more injuries than any other frontcourt in history, surpassing Dikembe Mutombo and…anyone.
11 Bulls
After a week of extensive testing, team doctors have concluded that the cause of Tyson Chandler's chronic fatigue and chest pains was his vagina.
12 Cavs
Oh, look, they're tanking and it's not even spring. And LeBron's new commercials suck more than Drew Gooden.
13 Nuggets
NOPE! I saw 'Melo outplay Wade. Mmmmmmmhuh...FILED!
*PS --Stop Snitchin'!
14 Lakers
Led by three-time champion Kobe Bryant, the Lakers seem to have righted themselves.
15 Heat
Led by zero-times champion Dwayne Wade, the Heat seem to just suck. Hard. They'll be fine when that big ass break-dancing, gun-toting, Superman loving, free throw missing Philosopher/Rapper/Center gets back.
16 76ers
I coulda sworn I heard "breakout" and "Iguodala" used in the same sentence over a thousand times during preseason. That ***** 'bout as consistent as an Arab Nazi drag queen.
17 Sonics
When asked how his game is any different from Al Harrington's, a brutally honest Rashad Lewis stated, "Oh. Well, I'm light-skinned. And I take more shots."
18 Nets
What a great week for the Nets! Vince out duels 'Bron and…nope, that's it.
19 Wizards
I don't need to check the stats to know that this is the worst defensive team in the history of the world.
20 Magic

Captain Ankle is coming to save the day! Hang tough Dwight.
21 Hornets

Google "breakout" and "J.R. Smith"…it's disgusting.
22 Celtics
Ricky Davis has toned down his act to become a very good and reliable player. Good for him. Now, watch this ***** go rape a ***** or something…have weed all in his uniform…kick a midget...steal some Pez...not stop his car behind a school bus…fight with a deli owner over the amount of mustard he asked for….something. You watch. It's all too quiet right now.
23 Jazz
By way of one of our credible sources, we've obtained Carlos Boozer's AIM away message:
BoozGotPaid: My leg hurt. Leave me alone, unless you're Mitch Kupchak.

24 Kings
I hear they're working on a deal to trade Peja for a 16th century catapult, which they'll place right outside the three-point line. It's perfect for their offense, as it can do everything Peja can do, but they may give up about four or five more points than they did with Peja on the defensive end. Maybe.
25 Rockets
T-Mac is getting radical treatments on his sore back from none other than Jim Brown. The former NFL great sits T-Mac down for an hour and slowly repeats "Stop...being...a...****in'...*****." It's been working so far.
26 Knicks
Channing Frye was playing so well from the high post that Larry Brown just had to **** with him and stick him in the low post.
(Oh, that's it…no funnies…just the truth)
27 Blazers
Zach Randolph extended his streak of Most Consecutive Games Of Being The Only Guy In The League Who Looks Weird Wearing A Headband.
28 Bobcats
When asked if he still felt Emeka Okafor was better than Dwight Howard, Bernie Bickerstaff stated, "No. But, why you bringing up old **** to make me look bad?"
29 Hawks

They beat the Spurs, so they move out of last place.
30 Raptors

They didn't beat the Spurs, so they are the worst team in the NBA.

But we lost to the Lakers tonight. :down

Yeah but they didn't have that star to get them over the hump.

Sorry about the Lakers loss. I hate them.
