Peja plays no defense and he'll be going to a team that still stuggles on D.. maybe not like Sac but they're gonna suffer. Artest was able to guard 1-3 positions and on most nights locked the perimeter. I also see Peja falling off a bit. He's going from being the man to being a complimentary player.

Artest can shine in Sac.. it's a quiet neighborhood and it changed Webbers career. He's got a solid team around him. It's certainly gonna make the Kings better with his defense.

Sac is getting the better deal IMO.

i tend to agree sac got the better end...but JO is the man in indy..they dont need a number one..they only need a number two.....

I don't know Peja is a good premieter support for Jermaine and them.
The Pacers have a better shot at the playoffs

With the Kings and there record they aint gonna make the playoffs and ron-ron may get frustrated. Then again Sacramento is a great crowd still and it will be cool to see the fans reaction everytime Artest hustles on the court

and Alpha, your right. I guess with today being my Birthday....I got some humour as a gift. I can't wait to get out of work and party :(. 15 minutes to go!!!!

Congrats. You're right about Peja. I didn't think about conferences; I was considering teams. In the weak E-conf, Indiana could go as high as a 2 seed. The only sure no.1 is Detroit. The other teams, including Miami, really aren't guaranteed anything.

You said 'ron ron.' hahahaha:up:  Poor Artest: NBA's Rodney Dangerfield - 'Can't get no respect.'

Dennis Rodman found a scapegoat to make people forget his time in the league.

NOw ESPN's reportin the deal is off..artest doesnt wana go to sacto!...

^^^^^i know. what a soap opera this has turned into. what a distraction for the players.

hopefully we still got a chance to get him...i would trade odom for him like that

I know, I hope you're right. That would be an ideal trade, if Kwame Brown would step his game up, he could replace a tentative Odom. . :( Now I feel like an idiot for even hoping that.

I'm shocked you would actually type that up. I usually keep my fantasies to myself. :o

Yes, it was a momentary transgression. . .:O :( :o

LAL still could acquire Ron Artest. It is a possibility, no matter how remote. It's not really a fantasy; it's likened more to a passing thought.

Its not the trade that was shocking, its the fact you thought Kwame could actually do something that amazed me.

:( Jordan's hazing sessions had a negative effect.:( Maybe the Zen-Master of the game can help him progress, or he'll never have the promise of becoming a retired has-been. He'll remain a 'never was.' Oh well, I'm sure the 14 million he's made will console him.

odom sucks so bad, i can still say the Heat ripped off the lakers to this day by not giving up wade

The trade may still go through once Artest stops acting like a jerk.....uh oh

What? How is that Miami's fault? That is all on L.A. or more directly on Bryant. Say what you want but it basically went down like this.

Kobe "Bus, you either get rid of Shaq or lose me."

Bus being just as bad at managing the Lakers as he is at playing hold em said okay and got rid of Shaq to make Kobe happy.

That's because Kwame has no heart and no desire to play. Jordan tried to give him and instill in him what came natural to Jordan. You can't turn anyone into a winner or teach them how to have the desire to win. Kwame just doesn't have it and never will, he is a bust plain and simple.

I mean look at Jordan even though his skills had diminished he was still diving on the floor for loose balls at 40+. You can't teach that, I think IMHO that is why the league isn't what it used to be, players like that are few and far inbetween. There are some and a couple of teams with that, but most of the league and players are not.

I thought he is making $10 million this year?

I agree the Lakers got ripped off by not getting Wade, but it's all Mitch Kupchaks fault. I remember reading some quotes from Pat Riley after the trade where he said something about "i'm glad it didn't come to that." Wish i had the link, but that was so long ago. If Mitch woulda played a little hard ball, he coulda had Flash and Kobe on the same squad. I think at the end of the day tho, that contract extension that the Heat gave Shaq will come back to cripple that franchise. That's a lot of money for 5 more years. He already looks like he's over the hill. It's actually kinda sad to see.
To get Artest, to me, everybody except Kobe and Bynum are available. I mean this guy will give u 20 pts, and literally knock off 10 from the opposition. I highly doubt that Phillip wants to give up Lamar "Odumb." I doubt the Lakers get Ronny tho because the Lakers just don't have the talent on the team to make a deal. I don't even think they can get Artest if they brought a 3rd team into the mix. I hope i'm wrong, but i don't see it happening.

You're gonna criticize a owner who has 8 championships? An owner that's been to the NBA Finals 13 times, and has won 13 Division titles? Maybe i was the only one who saw Shaq scream @ Dr. Buss during a preseason game...."Are you gonna pay me now (Bleep)?" Shaq was out because he wanted too much money. The Lakers offered him a 2 year 45 million dollar extension that he declined to take. He wanted a max contract that took him up to when he was 38. That woulda been a bad business move by Buss because Shaq always comes into the season fat and outta shape. I'm not saying Kobe is completely clean in this, but all of the blame doesn't go on him.
There's a great book out right now called The Show: The Inside Story of the Spectacular Los Angeles Lakers In The Words of Those Who Lived It. There's a lot of great behind the scenes stories in there. There's a lot about the dysfuntional Shaq/Kobe teams in there.

Have you seen Jerry Bus play poker? Obviously not because you would have known what I meant. Also the owners share credit, take a look at who the GM's were.

the owner gets the last say in what happens when it comes to big contracts and trades. Buss is a gambler and he'll do things that make u wonder what he's doing, but look at the track record. I am however VERY worried when Jim Buss takes over the Lakers as owner :(
