They brought him in Yao's rookie year, he is there every game on the bench.

That baffles me too. Why not just trade the guy for someone else?

I'll be damned. I do remember that now.
Still, his progress has been slow. His fundamentally sound, but he's missing some of the nuances and subtleties of the game. I 'm starting to give that whole "He plays ball year round" argument a little more credence.

No, they brought him in as a coach, PE has been retired for some time now.

Yeah, I mean if the guy had an off season to rest, recoup and work on getting himself into really good shape he would improve much faster than he is. I mean you have to also take into account that a guy of his size expends energy a lot faster and needs a lot more to recover than somone 6'6" or 6'1".

Plus he isn't even 25 yet, when men reach their peak performance physically, or there about.

He getting a raw deal. I think the guy's definately being exploited by his home country. Doesn't appear that's there much that can be done. I'm surprised he hasn't been injured more often. I think before this injury he just got over, he had never missed a game. This could go bad.

I was referring to Yao.:o

Alpha, what could they get of decent value. The quality of the League's centers nowadays sucks. Anybody decent is probably locked up. Plus, the cap hit; I don't think Yao is making too much.

I think they just need to work with the man and give him some proper conditining and rest. I don't think he's the best center by far, but he's not a bust.

Yes it could, those damn communists!

You're right J. Shaq was the last true center, and the position is almost non-existent now. The most dominant position in the league right now is probably the 4.

Well don't give up on Yao just yet and Bogut is only a rookie, you never know what he will develop into.

Man that Rockets got that ass spanked tonight, geez.
I think the rockets are just too inconsistent to make the playoffs this year:o

The Daddy rules and he's gonna bring it home this year! (Yes, I'm biased)

There are a lotta good 4 guys though. Most of them are versatile enough to take it out on the perimeter and kill you there too. You figure it be'd easier for a center to be effective down low with that kinda trend in the League, but apparently not. After the guys we've talked about who are you left with, Erick Dampier, Jason Collins, Joel 'Prybzilla', Brian Scalabrine...

Maybe they'll do well. . . and let's also give hope for poor Darko. . . he'll never see any real playing time in D.

Clear cut reserve all-stars:p

Indeed, they dug themselves into too deep of a hole to be this inconsistent at this time.

Funny thing, the Rockets are only out of the 8 spot by like 4-5 games. You figure it would be more. They'd have to play alot better (and be healthier) to get in though.

Dikembe carrys lions, tigers, and leopards on his back and he battled the mighty Oneal in 01, but was defeated.:o

Now he just plays second string. . . but a long time ago. . . he was much more.:O :( :D

Riddler, your knowledge of basketball's center position is sorely lacking if you think that Yao is dominant, currently the best, and a success.

I've seen JEROME JAMES handle Yao. :o JJ is garbage. . .or not.
no one said he was dominant.

if you read what i said in the past i said he was the best center in the nba today.

and there's no reason to believe other wise, when there is not another center scoring 20 ppg and grabbing over 9 rebs.

shaq is no longer dominant, wallace is only defense.

If with talking best, then I'm going with the guys with the pedigree. Again, Shaq, Wallace and Amare (oh, but he's injured, so he doesn't exist).

This may be the first time that I've ever heard somebody call Yao the best. A large portion of the basketball community has another opinion.

No, Shaq isn't as dominating as he's been in the past. And some of that crap that "analysts" feed me has been more than cognizant of that fact. Despite all that, everytime the subject comes up, I still hear a slew of names (starting with Shaq and his 'diminished' abilities) before Yao's.
amare hasn't played. by the best center TODAY, i mean someone who's actually playing...currently.

also, you don't know how'll he return. in addition, he WAS NOT a good defender. a poor one in fact.

also, stop giving me crap like what analysts say. give proof with solid facts.

BAH HUMBBUG! said:
Not to mention Yao is his BIATCH!!! This kid dunks on Yao like it is a natural reflex  :D
if you've watched the games, amare has been frustrated by yao.

not to mention, they dunk on each other.

proof,

I've never heard anybody (outisde you) refer to Yao as the best
Yao has never been close to an NBA 1st Team
You may not like analysts, but they more than both of us. Pardon me if I'm inlcined to believe their general consensus (or crap, as you call it)

do you know why amare is never posterized?

because he runs away when he sees someone coming down the lane to dunk.

no joke. if you watch him, he moves out of the way.
