2009 NFL Draft Thread (aka Excel & Norman's personal b**ch and moan thread)

Forgot one guy in 2010 to go along with Bradford, McCoy and Tebow:

Jevan Snead, Ole Miss

Snead is a better pro prospect than the other three.

Also, I call it:

If Knowshon goes to Philadelphia, the Eagles will be in the Super Bowl. I really hope this doesn't happen.

I think Moreno could fall that far and being the better choice over Wells if both are on the board when Philly hits the clock, but even though that defense was terrific last year, they still gave up 32 to the Cardinals in the NFC Championship, and they will struggle for a while with the loss of their heart and soul in Brian Dawkins. Making the Super Bowl is a very good possibility though.

I just hope Jerry Jones doesn't draft Pat White. I personally can't stand the Cowboys, and having to root for a former Mountaineer on a team I hate would suck, but I'll be glad if I see him prosper as a Wildcat QB.

The only way that happens is if Wells is gone; they wont draft somebody exactly like Westbrook. And even then Phily wont win the super bowl; they need a wide reciever. They could snag Robiskie who just might be my fav. wr of the draft.

I would say if they can get Wells/Moreno & Pettigrew/Britton/Beatty with their 2 1st rounders and snag Robieskie in round 2...they are in good shape. McNabb can move the team down the field with any WR, but he needs a big red zone threat which they could get.

Robieskie also has excellent running form for a wr. Forget the 40; his long, toe-tipped strides will allow him to get by unsuspecting defenders with relative ease if used properly.

Moreno is more physical than Westbrook, and brings more to the table than Wells with his pass catching ability.

Britton wouldn't make a lot of sense with Stacy Andrews already at RT.

Unless Phili takes him in the first round, it is unlikely he will be reach the Eagles at their current second round spot.

We have no left tackle....Talk of moving Herremans, but OT is still a likely pick with one of our first three picks.

The Eagles are going to move around, whether it's up in the first or second, they will make a trade somewhere.

They dont need a pass catcher, they need a shortyardage guy.

Theyd move one of them to LT.

Depends. If Crabs, Maclin, DHB, Kenny Britt, and Hakeem Nicks all go ahead of him there is a shot.

You can't just move a RT to LT. LT and RT are different positions. Britton is a RT. Andrews is a RT. Beatty is a LT. Right Tackles are generally run blockers with more emphasis put on girth and power than pass protection and quick feet. Left tackles are pass blockers.

That's why left tackles are so much more valuable than right tackles. No one drafts a right tackle at the top of round one.

True.

Philadelphia will definitely make a trade. Its going to come down to how much they like Michael Oher and William Beatty.

Matt Stafford's Private Detroit Lions workout is tomorrow.

A good work out and he earns 35+ million dollars guaranteed.

Also, to any "Offensive Tackle is the safer pick" people:

to be fair, Mandarich is the "all time tackle bust" mostly because he went the pick ahead of Barry Sanders. For every tackle 1st round bust, you can list a dozen QB's picked in the Top 10 who have been busts. Plyaing the %'s you have a greater likelihood of success from the T position.

Players aren't percentages though. Making your decisions based solely on history and not the present is a good way to lose your future. So far Stafford has given the Lions no reason to doubt him.

Also, Hulk, I would advise looking at William Beatty from UConn. Is very similar to Jason Smith and should be available at pick 20 and possibly 33.

For every Wells highlight tape there is one for Knowshon. Moreno is a more powerful runner than Wells - as Mike Mayock has claimed.

If thats true, lets see it.

Here's my ratings.

I can't believe you have Tebow last on the list. The system argument you always have I get but other than that how do you not say his intangibles far outway stats. Although his stats are amazing!

I mean Common he's 6'3" and 240 lbs with these stats:

I mean as Miami Hurricane fan I understand the hate but I acknowledge him as the best college QB ever and think he will be a phenom in the NFL. I hope my bucs take him next year.

Because Tim Tebow will never play a down under center in the NFL. He in now way projects as a starting NFL QB. He doesnt have the arm strength, the decision making, and only excels in an offense that doesnt work on the pro level so his stats are meaningless and won't translate. Hell, Ty Detmer and David Klingler were the greatest college QB's ever, statistically speaking, and neither were even a blip on the NFL's radar.

And "intangibles" arent going to cut it. He consulted people about coming out of college this year for the NFL and the best anyone would tell him was that he'd be a late 3rd round pick, and that's after your laundry list of college accolades, you've listed out above.

The last Gator QB with all these similar stats was Danny Wuerfful..he didn't do anything in the NFL.

Heisman Trophy (a second will come next year and Bradford stole his this year so it should be 3)
:lmao:

What's so funny that he'll get another one next year or that bradford stole his second this year?

We'll see but i'm putting money on him being a first rate QB if any team gives him the chance.
