2014 NFL thread: The land of Jaguaring

So Eric Decker and Percy Harvin are now on one team.

If only they had someone to consistently throw them the ball.

Wow, Seattle spent 7 years $67 million on Harvin. Also it took them to give up a 1st, 3rd and 7th pick in the draft. He hasn't even played a full season in Seattle too. Could be the worst trade I've ever seen in the NFL.

His stats would be looking a lot better if two of his TDs weren't called back due to penalties. But yeah, Harvin is overrated anyway and it doesn't help his new QB has 1 good game out of every 6.

How does that work?

It doesn't. I mean, it's a slippery slope I guess. Luckily for Colin, he wasn't 'miked' in that particular game but there's no mistaking Kaepernick used the N word when reviewing the clip.

It's just bizarre. I understand getting rid of him if there were issues in the locker room but why not try and actually get something for him? These weird one-sided deals seem to happen so often in the NFL and I never understand why.

There's definitely something that we don't know. I'm not buying what we're hearing.

Keep in mind, Harvin comes with 20 million dollars worth of dead money too. The Seahawks got shredded on this trade. Not only was Percy expensive but he never lived up to the hype at Seattle, and they gave up three draft picks for him (one of which was a first round pick). According to a few whispers, Harvin is a diva similar to Owens.

Locker Room Cancer? Check.
Overpaid? Check.
Underperformed? Check.
Injury Prone? Check.
Bad Attitude? Check.

Wow, did not see this coming. He was by far their best weapon, and they needed him with the way the defense has been playing. I have to be honest, I think this really hurts the Seahawks chances of repeating.

Apparently Harvin tried to fight Russell Wilson twice, punched Golden Tate prior to the Super Bowl, called out the offensive coordinator for not enough gadget plays, demanded more money this past season, etc.

Damn...

Seriously? Maybe play half a season worth of games first. :funny:

Where did you find this out?

And that's what I meant with my earlier post. I don't think Pete Carroll and company are boneheaded enough to just let him go for no reason, so I'm not surprised to hear that.

Tweets from NFL.com, ESPN and now the Field Gulls blog.

No, letting him go wasn't boneheaded at all but they got screwed out of three draft picks and 29+ million. Talk about a cluster**** for a guy who barely made an impact for them.

It is legitimately one of the most bizarre and stupids things I have ever read. If true, yeah makes perfect sense they sent him packing.

Yeah, The Seahawks have a strong locker room and front office. They wouldn't have traded Harvin for something insignificant. Whatever the final straw was it must have been big enough for Seattle to kick him to the curb before the deadline.

I see, thanks!

I understand. However, there really wasn't any other option for them at this point. It was either let him be a cancer for the team or take whatever they could get for him. People were shocked at the initial news of it all but I knew there had to be something else to it. Sometimes there's even more than they tell the media.

Jay Glazer was on WFAN here in NY as soon as the trade went down. He said there was much more to the story but wouldn't go into detail as it was a whole piece he was doing for tomorrow's pregame show.

NEH-VA!

That's not surprising at all. It's all about the city for me. I was curious because every day it seems like the Redskins are getting closer to a name change, and I can see myself supporting the new team as long as it represents the city of Washington. Even if the national media quiets down about the name change, it's still something that's discussed locally.

I was completely confused by the move, too. I think when it comes to franchises choosing a name for themselves, it should be something that's either intimidating or very honorable. "Pelicans", in my opinion, doesn't fit either of those, and the name itself just doesn't roll off the tongue well. Major props to you for still being a fan.

Thanks so much; it's certainly been a grueling fan experience for the most part.

Also Tate posted a meme about him chilling out drinking tea/coffee with his gf and teammate. I thought it was hilarious.

Also worth noting that Tate is with a different chick now in that picture. I am not sure what Seattle actually got from the Jets when they traded him. Anyone know?

Jets got a deal on that one. Gave up practically nothing.

Agreed.

Although the Jets had to give up practically nothing, look how much ego they added to their roster on top of some of the characters they already have.

Don't mention it, because I can relate.

The struggle is real.
