Why are there so many Redskins fans in Virginia?

The Skins aren't my team, but anyways I live Northern VA. The local team there is the Skins because D.C. is not that far away. I guess if you go more south it's still the Skins, but then there's also the Titans and Panthers.

I didn't watch most of the games because I was at Yankee Stadium, but when I saw that the Chiefs beat the Jaguars 28-2. I was like Smith is stepping up. Until I found out, 1 TD came off a INT. 3 others came after great field position after returned punts and another INT. I mean this is typical Smith 173 yards with conservative passing?

Well I guess that Alex Smith should give the win and the stats back... because as we all know, touchdowns don't count if the defense set you up for it, and wins don't count if you threw for less than 200 yards to get it.

And I have never blamed a ref for losing a game...

I've been unhappy with blown calls... who doesn't... but they didn't lose last year's SB because of the refs... they lost that game because of 4 bad play selections in that last minutes when they were in the red zone.

Exactly. Poor play calling from the 49ers, a strong defensive showing from the Ravens and the inability of the 49ers to adjust cost them that Super Bowl, not some imaginary "blown" pass interference call on a pass that was uncatchable to begin with.

That said, Cary Williams SHOULD have been tossed from the game for shoving a ref. That's not 49ers bitterness or bias.

The proximity thing makes sense . I've always seen states without teams as wild cards.

Really?

Well, Northern Va is almost its own state. Places down south like Richmond support the Skins but the area surrounding DC in VA is the center of Redskin Country.

This.

Yeah it was a stupid question.

Looks like both Pouncey and Foote are out for the season.

What can you say? Both are huge parts of the team and there is no one on the team who can fill their roles. Frankly, this falls squarely on Tomlin and Colbert. One of the most injury prone players in the NFL shouldn't be the lynchpin of the teams offensive line, to the point where the line crumbles without him. But IF he is, then he should sure as hell have a good backup. As for Foote, basically its the same but switch injury prone for older player in one of the most physical roles in the NFL.

In the Cowher days, you never heard anyone making excuses about injuries, because if a player got injured, his backup could seamlessly step in. It seems like every Mike Tomlin press conference has him making an excuse about injuries being the reason that the team is underperforming.

Cowher had foresight. Tomlin doesn't. Cowher knew how to use the later rounds of the draft to find diamonds in the rough and build depth on his team. Tomlin doesn't. Cowher knew when it was time to cut your losses and move on from an older player. Tomlin doesn't. Ugh, what I wouldn't give to have the Chin back on the sideline. Remember when Joe Gibbs returned to Washington after his retirement? One can dream....right?

F***.

Here in VA, you are more than likely either a Redskins fan or a Steelers fan.

So defensive about Alex Smith.

I know you like bringing up his big game against New Orleans but, you said it yourself he's not lived up to that #1 pick. Not that's unusual for a #1 draft pick, but he's a conservative QB who needs a certain system to succeed.

I know it won't count as a pre-season pick anymore, but I'm backing off of Dallas, and picking Philly to win the East now.

Philly Ran 30 plays in the first quarter, holy ****, to put that in perspective the fastest offense in the league last year was New England and they ran about 80 a game.

It's going to be close between Philly and Dallas but I didn't buy into the Redskin preseason hype. Their D was always subpar and RGIII isn't going to be back into the flow of thing until about week 6 or 7.

Rust isn't an issue here. RG3 hasn't had a running game to lean on tonight (DBs not creeping close to the LOS to stop it) and his bubble screens have been limited. As a result, RG3's passing game has been non-effective. Seattle basically did the identical thing to Washington last year.

This is what happens when you haven't played at all in 9 months.

My goodness, I expected this game to be a gun-slinging contest with some comedy gold commentary from Gruden. How wrong was I. I know it's only week 1, but Chip Kelly's offense is amazing. Vick is looking the best he's ever been since the 2010 season.

Yep, but we all know RG3 will bounce back. It's just a shame he had to play like s*** against a division rival.

Eagles are tearing them to pieces! RG3 should have taken the season off and healed up more. He shouldn't be out there.

RG-INT is looking awful tonight.

...and of course they missed the field goal. Wow.
